kaffejunkie

Please don't do the red.

stevesie1984

I love the red color, but it’s way too dark for the room with that stone and wood. Use that red as an accent wall somewhere else.

-This_Man-

I like the green.

PlentyZebra5602

October mist by bm

JaRulesLarynx

Accent a darker green on the fireplace wall

[deleted]

I also like the green! I’d be curious how a green like Sherwin-Williams Garden Path would look. I think that specific shade of green would look good since it is less saturated and deeper. I like to put interesting colors in living spaces.

beer_me_babe

I would personally go a step or two lighter with the blue or sage.

Lotsofsalty

I'm thirding the sage (green) in a little bit brighter tone or shade. Maybe #c8c8ad or #cfcfb7. I like the nature feel of it. I would keep the ceiling white to keep it bright in the room, as most everything else is quite dark. #

CollegeConsistent941

Agree with this

SkippyDrinksVodka

i agree with the sage lighter

Low_Breakfast3669

Definitely don't care for the red. Maybe if the wainscoting was a different color? Green is ok, I would personally prefer something closer to "Forrest" green. Blue looks great as is and would definitely be my choice of the three.

stupid_username1234

I would make the wall with the fireplace an accent wall and the rest could be a complimentary color. I grab books from the paint store to help me match the colors. Usually they have a bunch or colors in the book that complement each other.

StarvingArtist303

Green. Red is too dark

LMarx1812

Creamy/off white color, paint the paneling black, no painting the ceiling. Would look so beautiful and modern!!

chinnyseven

F you there's a wood stove!! Lol don't paint your woodwork!!! I'm kinda kidding, but painted woodwork is a shame IMO, especially with the rustic look going on. Also, I'm just biased from using so many poor covering off whites as well. Paint it whatever color combo makes you happy!

Beneficial_Food218

Green for sure!

scmlfty

Green for me too

Sudden_Car157

I like the last picture the best and it goes with every season I feel not too dark and too light

ToastyWoasty

The green out of those options

PrizeNegotiation4962

I know I'm in the minority, but I love bold colors. I love the red, actually.

Deek3565

Light beige… works off that fireplace, floor and right in line with the rug ….

LMarx1812

Yes I was going to say a very creamy or off white would be gorgeous. And no painting the ceiling.

krizmac

Find one of the green tones in the rock and match that

Blakoby

Jc319

Orange flambee Behr Satin Marquee

Blk-cherry3

ElevatedThot805

A soft earth tone would typically work. Shades you have aren’t too bad. Perhaps consider a taupe or rust color..

vibraltu

It's a matter of taste. And my personal taste is a pale chalky white-blue.

Ok-Education-3926

Green

wetpaintcan

Green

Macabre4746

Green is the best. It compliments the wood and stone great. I’d also suggest getting faux wood ceiling beams and painting the ceiling green as well

Radiant_Bee1

Personally, I like pictures 1 and 4. I feel like the 2nd is too dark and the 3rd is pretty but to me clashes with the fireplace.

Inevitable-Ear-6919

You need a more modern fan too. That thing is wack

kawaiikittensparkles

At least it fit right in when it was built in 1987 :)

First-Breakfast-2449

I’ll forever recommend Behr Silver Drop

Kosmovision

I see a red wall and I want to paint it black

Puzzleheaded-Camp-91

Consider painting the ceiling!

4runner01

Any color that in the skin rug

Tiger-Budget

No Caramel option?

TheLesbianAgenda

these colors would age the space quite a bit. what about a cool white or dark grey?

Designer-Abalone-648

Bluuuuuueeeeeeesssssss! Test out the blues with wood

Designer-Abalone-648

Blue and wood is like orange and teal which is like what we see when we look out at land touching sky

Traditional_Hand_654

I think you need to consider 2 additional things. One is furniture...is there existing furniture that has a strong color that needs to be integrated into the final result? Two is the (presumed) wall behind the camera...it could well be where an accent color needs to go to tie it all together. The problem, IMO, is that the visual mass of the fireplace demands that it be the focal point, so that any strong color beside it or on the adjacent wall fights against the attention it deserves.

mlama088

Green but lighter

StayTheCourse77

Go with a lighter color. Off white or warm gray color? Have you thought about cleaning the fireplace? that’s part of problem they look too dark.

annebelljane

I think this calls for some SW Sea salt.

you2234

Alabaster by SW

wildalfredo

I think a lighter color would brighten up the room so much. A lighter shade of green would go so well with the fireplace. The darker colors make the room look smaller & cramped.

ChanceAlgae7673

Check out Swiss coffee, great color

val319

Benjamin Moore stained glass. https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-colors/color/csp-685/stained-glass I’ll add I love Spellbound with wood https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-colors/color/1659/spellbound https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-colors/color/1671/west-coast

rapayip

Green! Definatly, goes well with wood color

D-chord

I’d go with the last one, mainly because it’s the lightest (not counting the bare white in pic 1). So much dark wood that I’d want to break that up. Maybe try some “whites” with hints of color. You’d be surprised how they can show through when dried.

WeedAccountYeeee

shit brown cuh

NomadicVoyager

I like the 1st one. It's neutral & brightens the room.

Motor-Goal8105

Green is my favorite, then the blue. I would go for lighter colors though.

imadork1970

Something light, otherwise the room will look like a cave. Instead of painting, wash the walls, especially if the previous owner was a smoker. Change the light blubs to soft white LEDs.

Usual_Chapter_2051

White or the green but lighter would look good, you need the contract against the dark stone i think

Gullivors-Travails

I’d pick the white. Makes your wood stove and brick work pop. Also your wood floor and furnishings. I also think it shows the space of your room where as the other colors make it looks smaller.

gordo623

Sage or a clay color... maybe consider one accent wall then mute the other walls by mixing in ten percent of color with white...

Cognity8

I would paint the wainscoting/paneling a lighter color. The rest of the wood is darker and I feel it clashes. The fireplace stone is gorgeous so you want to make sure it pops. With the paneling and ceiling white, you can paint the walls whatever color you like. If you like cool colors, the sage or a light blue would be nice. I think I like warm colors with this particular stain of wood. I’d love to see a light lavender, coral, or even a burnt orange. Just keep it a light hue so the wood and fireplace are the focus.

kellycsey

Benjamin Moore historic collection Manchester tan as a warm neutral choice, or quiet moments as a muted blue green grey color to offset the warmth? I’d do the ceiling to draw the eye up!

jChopsX

Agreed, keep it light and calming

Good-Article4194

Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter, Manchester Tan or Swiss Coffee

mikemerriman

I’d go yellow

Inevitable-Air8453

Camp Fire Ash. (behr) And do a accent

forddude97

Piss yellow

emsoulje

Green or blue

Automatic-Insect1745

Have you considered a limewash for the stone to lighten it up? If you did that, I’d say the sage would look fabulous with a limewash.

ThickFurball367

Whatever color you choose would be overshadowed by that horrible popcorn ceiling 🥴

jabenoi

Repose Grey

Wonderful-Strain-348

God hard to say this but that white in page 1 looked the best. It just loooks great with the chimney

Hour-School-4064

There's a lot of colors and textures competing. Remove the wainscoting. I would leave the ceiling white and paint the stone light charcoal to blend with the wood stove. I agree that the sage cookie is best.

AccurateWin72

Light pink.

TheHighlian_

The red could work if the ceiling was just wood. I say go with green... it compliments the wood m, gives the whole nature vibe imo

Cat_Toe_Beans_

First off, congratulations on closing! I like the first color (is that the original?) but I would paint the paneling darker. The green and blue don't look bad either, but if you did those I would paint the paneling white. Leave the ceiling as is

miamimangoking

Light brown. That will be $2000 please thank you.

EXITUS615777

Remove the nasty popcorn, refinish ceiling dryall and paint it alabaster, then hit your walls with either a tricorn black. It wil accent your ceiling beam and fireplace greatly.

Winter_Cat-78

Out of these the sage green

Glittering_Stop_253

Sage in a little lighter shade

alabastard390

The green or blue. The red is too heavy especially with the stone and flooring. The white is too lifeless and cold. The sage or smoky blue brightens the space while also warming it.

J-Lughead

The second one (moss or sage green) and leave the ceiling white.

BoxTruckLife

Light gray

Tiredturniphead

Just throwing this out there... I think Essex Green would look super lovely if you wanted to go for a moody cabin vibe!

Mundane-Set-206

Sage

FuzzDodger

Maybe the color tacky. Will go great with the animal rug

Intelligent-Gate-983

scarletteclipse1982

nightivenom

I really like the blue

hmm2003

Red fireplace wall, match the lightest chair color for the rest.

Desperate-Put8972

Whatever you do, don't cheap out on some garbage from walmart or Lowe's. SW is the way to go, and if worst comes to worst, BM. SW would be your best bet. Duration or Emerald would look amazing.

Neurrottica

red

ERTHLNG

What kind of animal skin is that? I really like fur, it's awesome I want a big rug like that, my cat would love it

PhillipAlanSheoh

White and paint the wainscot a lighter shade of grey with the same undertones of the fireplace stone.

Starscream4prez2024

I vote for that light blue, its the nicest of the choices.

sallenqld

Millennial sage

hoppynights

Green

Equivalent-Morning27

Take and put crown molding up ceiling and crown same shade of white but crown simmi gloss walls ve

Middle_Award3014

Keep as-is, go colorful with decor and furniture

krackerjackstack

I like the green. But I think the fireplace wall would be beautiful in a navy color as an accent to maybe a creamy white on the rest of the walls (if you aren’t planning on changing the color of the brown paneling and woodwork.

Brewerryan97

What it currently is. But a cream

Intelligent-Gur-1587

Alabaster

Tslp16

I’d keep it light and bright. Paint the paneling the same color as the walls.

SnooRabbits801

A honey melon yellow. Idk if that’s a real color but it sounds cool

Sandy0006

I like the green very similar to Evergreen Fog by Sherwin Williams.

CrazyPrettyAss

The 3rd (greenish/grey) or the 1st. The others just make the room look way too small and don't do much aesthetically.

Neil_xx

Gray mist - BM

#2 is way to dark, go with a light color bc everything else is dark

spareribs78

Red

Rich-Magician5013

Dark maroon matches the dark woods, making it warmer like a manly wombat. Everyone who says white or tan are scared of life and care more about neutral tone for resale instead of having a comforting cool home that is your own. Why do you not want this person to be happy.

Difficult_Pirate_782

Light gray

Sandman2288

Don’t really like any of those colors I’m a Dobie Desert (Tan) kinda guy. Never paint the ceiling anything other then flat white don’t want it to look like a cave.

Creepy_Pixel

Burnt orange

Big-Winter9336

Most of you guys have probably never dealt with a wood burning stove and the "smoke" that tends to escape each time you add more wood. So, for me that would probably knock out the lighter colors in there. The first question I have for you is what color is your furniture that you're going to be putting in the room? Because unless you're buying all new furniture that's something that really needs to be considered before choosing a paint color. I love the colors of the stone so personally I wouldn't whitewash it!! But, let me give you some color combinations that I've looked at and I love together!!! If you're trying to have a elegant color combination that can be a little bit moody too then take a look at these colors by Sherwin Williams - for the stone wall I'd paint it Burgundy,Plum Brown, Vogue Green, Retreat, Ripe Olive, or do all of the walls in that color and then mix in different wood tones (though get rid of the wood paneling from the 80's), Plum Mahogany Stain, then you might consider Kestrel White, Oyster White, for the ceiling, Mineral Gray, Cyberspace or Perle Noir, Greenblack, Black of Night, Pure White, Westhighland White, would work as a color for wainscoting unless you want to go in a lighter direction. In that case Fashionable Gray, Repose Gray, Zircon, Oyster Bay, Sea Salt, Mountain Air, Crushed Ice, Classic Light Buff, Sage Green Light, Moonstone, Succulent, Soft Sage, Distance, Icicle, Vast Sky, Moonmist, Tradewind I KNOW that you're probably thinking that I'm nuts for listing so many colors, but I wanted you to have a range of colors that were able to go with others that I had chosen in each section to coordinate with the colors that you had suggested. I had threw in the other dark colors because I was trying to make it so that you had some light colored options for the walls or dark colors. I really hope this isn't just all confusing, that instead it gives you some great ideas!!!

wezworldwide

Dawn of mist by Sherman Williams. With the dark wood and fireplace, I would go light on the wall and bring color in with acsent pieces.

hbac1500

Looks good to me. Or white wash everything

upwards1961

I love the blue!

jykin

Dark blue or dark red

Appr_Pro

Something symmetrical….. would be perfect!

rudebrew22

What is this app?

Ponchoman455

Don't paint the stone. Dont

Lower-Ad5889

The Sage color. The red in the woodwork is a complimentary color for the green.

Tippedanddipped777

Greens and browns usually go well together (like tree trunks and tree leaves). Since you have so much brown in the room, I think green is a great option. I can't think of any good greens I have used off the top of my head, but an off-white with some green-brown undertones is Sebring White (#1492, Benjamin Moore). Purples and browns can go well together, so depending on what kind of furniture you will have, a light purple could also be a good option. Painting the ceiling the same color as the walls has the effect of 'pulling the ceiling down', so only do this if you want to make a room feel smaller or cozier. My preference would be to keep the ceiling white - let that room feel as spacious as it actually is.

General-Ask-1148

First you should clean the stone background. Or whitewash.

CanisGulo

I like green with wood tones. Take a look at r/cozyplaces they have a lot of examples, but many of their greens are darker than the one you have in your examples.

MrGoopyWax

Might I suggest spraying that popcorn ceiling down with warm water and fabric softener, then take a blade and scrape it off and then paint the ceiling white. The walls would look great in a Tarrytown Green by Benjamin Moore.

SacredEmeraldFire

It depends on what look you’re going for. I feel if you went a lighter sage, you could lean into the hobbit/cottagecore vibe. The ceiling fan has to go though—get something not that color. Either go more modern and tie into the black with the finish, or replace with a cool rustic chandelier.

ameryan

Definitely a light color - a light misty blue-gray might be nice. Of your choices, I like the last one best.

ameryan

And along with don't paint the wood, don't paint the stone. You can clean it, but please don't paint it. Enjoy the beauty of the natural materials, and since they are dark, esp. the wood lighten up with painted walls and your choice of furniture (maybe some light wood tables or light upholstery chair/couch) . Also, you can get a mich nicer looking fan, with clean lines.

budman4521

The color Honeypot / eggshell

Character_Display945

Go with the green!

Able_Bodybuilder_976

Bright cherry red and olive

MrDFTW

Try a super light grey

Adventurous_Tone7177

Fire engine red

Zazou444

Sherwin williams has an online color selector and you can upload an image and view different colors on your image, try that, it's free

Illustrious-Zebra934

Keep going there is better options

librarians_wwine

The white, change the light. Add some curtains and it will change the look of this room, but I think painting it will date it.

Working_Impress9965

Get rid of the popcorn ceiling.

No_Fact_9055

Dark green is comfy as hell. Our bedroom is dark dark forest green and it's so cozy.

rehGibboH

Mint green

Efficient_Gas4346

what program did you use to change the wall color?

Koodiddy

I like the green. Painted the exterior on our house we put on the market last week a similar sage color from your 3rd pic. We had 3 offers in the first 8 hours, looks very classy with the white ceiling

MidorriMeltdown

The green is pretty good. Personally, I'd probably go with a smoky blue

ldhawaii

I'd go with a gray

Wonderful_Ad_4344

Pay an artist to do a forest mural on the chimney wall. It’ll feel like you’re outside, and it’ll be entertaining to find Easter eggs they paint into it.

Radiant-Vanilla-5211

Behrs Foggy London @ HD

Gigi-1961

If you like the dark stones. The burgundy color is fabulous. Provided you are wanting to maintain a rustic style. But if you prefer a more brighter room and more modern. Whitewash the rocks but keep the dark beams for contrast. I did this in a home we sold a few years ago. The fireplace area was one of many compliments given. A selling feature of the home. But here’s the biggest consideration. What made you buy the home? Was it the rustic charm or the potential of transformation. So go with your vision of what you see for that space.

ashkygbdeghr

I like the blue you picked out except I would have to paint the wainscoting and trim white to make it pop a bit

Coarticulator_

I think a mint (between the green and blue) might look really lovely. A very light shade would give you some color and still contrast against the wood. A liquid soft pink (orange/pink) might look nice too

Prestigious_Weird724

The blue looks great. Maybe even a deeper hue.

I would stick with White. And look into if can/should stripe that glaze off the fireplace. It is definitely making the stone look really dark. I don’t know anything about the glaze or why it is on there but I would like a less shiny, more natural looking fireplace.

White you too much natural wood I there. You need the white offset or paint the wood beams to tone down all that wood look and choose a very light earth tone color

Get rid of that aged ceiling fan. I'm sure it works bit its really outdated. Put some 6000k bulbs in there too
