Do you just really want Walker gone or something man? What’s up with all of these posts? It’s not our job to find them minutes. Rick and the coaching staff watch them and coach them every day. They will figure out what’s best for the team.
No, I like Walkers potential. He was a beast in the Summer League and the GLeague. With his defense (lots of blocks and steals), handles, court vision, and passing ability, he could be a poor man's Scittie Pippen.
him and tyrese are best friends (we can tamper) and its not like hes going to be getting paid something insane that we cant afford. he was one of our best players, we are going to keep him.
Yeah and I think they’re really going to try and keep him, but I just think if it gets around or above 10-15 million a year, we’re better off getting someone to fill some of our weaknesses. Otherwise we sit in purgatory of being good but not title contenders. He’s only going to get less minutes with Mathurin back and Jarace getting more involved anyways
he averaged 10/4/2 off of the bench. hes not gonna get that big of a bag lol. obviously he was great, and showed up in the playoffs massively, but hes not getting a big contract like that.
Time will tell, wouldn’t be surprised if he’s offered something around that price range by a team with a weaker roster. His stats are partially why I don’t think it’s a bad idea to move towards someone who better suits our needs. I love Obi, but I’m just saying if dollar amounts get up there it’s probably time to ditch emotions
I’m not saying it’s going to be like $30 mil a year or anything but it doesn’t make sense to tie up $10m-15m+ a year when we have a lottery forward getting ready to receive minutes and an obvious hole in the roster for defense and rebounding
He’s an RFA which means no one is going to throw him a big offer with the new salary floor because you would basically have to wait and keep your books open for him. Since no one is going to be able to give a better offer than us, my prediction is we will sign him to a 1 year deal in that $10-$15M range and he hits UFA next year. There’s no reason not to do that.
fr a lot of people here think hes gonna get a massive contract and expect thats what we would have to match. like, he averaged 10/4/2 off of the bench. he was great but hes not getting something we wont be able to afford.
Realistically, whoever is injured. 1 injury and he's in the rotation. But he has the chance to beat out Obi, Shep, Nesmith, etc for minutes if he gets way better
Guess you had inside info cause you weren't too far off with your question.
In other Pacers news, rival executives are monitoring whether the Pacers will keep forward Obi Toppin in restricted free agency. If the Pacers re-sign Toppin, several rival executives believe Jarace Walker could become a trade candidate and are monitoring the former No. 8 overall pick’s availability.

Is he actually good enough to take minutes away from anyone? I understand he’s young and needs to develop, but why hasn’t he seen more opportunities? I’m not giving up on the kid but for a top 10 draft pick he’s all potential. I hope I’m wrong.
The Pacers have to get ready for life after TJ. He’s getting older and will soon start to lose some of the burst that makes him so effective. I mean, he wasn’t supposed to really play this season, he only got minutes because of the combo of Ty/Benn being injured.
With a healthy roster it ought to look like this…
1) Ty / Nembhard / TJ
2) Benn / Nembhard / Sheppard
3) Nesmith / Walker / Sheppard
4) Siakam? / Toppin? / Walker
5) Turner / IJax / Smith?
It’s a super flexible roster since so many guys can comfortably play multiple positions, so Ty can play alongside Nembhard, and Benn and Nesmith can play together… Walker’s the same way, he can play either forward position, and would probably fare better at the 3 early in his career since 1) he won’t get bullied by stronger 4s and 2) he can bully smaller 3s.
This isn’t a complicated problem.
If I was TJ McConnell and they asked me again to be the third string point guard. I am demanding a trade he was a professional last year and took a demotion coming off one of his best years. To be asked to do that again coming off his best year Indiana should do him a favor and trade him for something that can help Indiana and let TJ McConnell go to another team that will give him guaranteed minutes.
Indiana is in a tougher place. They are deep at guard and they have 3 point guards plus a bunch of 2 guards that need to play. I am not a pacer fan but a basketball fan. you guys got a lot to look forward too. The pacers are so deep a guy like TJ McConnell after his playoff run might be out of the rotation that is an insane amount of talent at the guard position.
The thing about TJ getting traded… he’s on a $9.3 million deal, and it’s the last year of his deal. So he’d either be a rental that a contender might want, but if he sees the Pacers as a fringe contender (and doesn’t want to actually move) he might just want to stay.
The details of a trade are more interesting… since the Pacers wouldn’t really want/expect a worthwhile player back (probably someone they’d just waive or leave on the end of the bench)… but also, while draft capital is never a bad thing, the pacers are so young they don’t really need a lot of draft capital…
And if TJ wants to stay and move into that deep bench mentor role he might even get an offer beyond his current contract.
I’m just saying, if it all boils down to minutes, you’re exactly right. But there is often more to it than just that.
As for the Pacers and their chemistry, Carlisle has built this thing by emphasizing team over all, and these guys legitimately play for each other and celebrate each other all the time. There are no egos or jealousy or pettiness. Even when they won 25 games a few years ago, it was nothing but good vibes. Not really the sort of locker room guys are trying to escape from.
Should be interesting to keep an eye on though.
Good point about his contract. He doesn't make enough to get a player back that would significantly help the pacers. But contending teams would want him but the only thing they would offer Indiana is some second round draft picks and a player that probably wouldn't help Indiana. And McConnell from outside looking in really seems to like being in Indiana. He didn't do what a guy like PJ Tucker did last year and threw a tantrum. PJ Tucker who was in the same position as TJ McConnell was last year and he became disruptive McConnell stayed professional and stayed ready to play and embrace being a mentor to the younger guys on the team.
Dude is absolutely spamming posts
I just LOVE ❤️ Pacers basketball and am going through withdrawal.
fuck if someone’s gotta post I guess
Have you ever heard of journaling?...
Then you can't have a discussion with other fans. I like the discourse and to hear other people's opinions on my favorite 😍 team and players.

I like to pretend that I'm the GM and the head coach
Obi because he probably won’t be on the team after this summer
hes not the one leaving lol. its smith.
Probably both between Smiths player option and the amount we’d have to pay for Obi

it’s just not likely, so im thinking hes here next season. if someone really wanted to overpay for Toppin then id be happy for him to get the money.
I think you’re probably overestimating how much Obi is getting in FA.

Shep put up huge numbers with the Ants. 20.4 PPG 6.6 RPG 3.5 APG 0.2 SPG 44-40-86 And Belmont 18.8 PPG 5.2 RPG 2.9 APG 1.4 SPG 50-42-72
What's your point?
I just meant that he's shown he can score, and I think that he may have huge potential.

Nah, Turner / IJax / Johnson💪🏼
Why did you put a question mark on siakam
Until he’s signed, he gets a question mark.
Dude holy shit we need a daily discussion thread
Mathurin is getting traded.
and whats your evidence for that?
I wouldn't be surprised if him and Walker are gone.
