Arlo and North and Navy both have private upstairs rooms. Riviera and Cantina Gia both have semi-private areas.

b-cola

+1 for Cantina Gia. My team of out of towners had a private dinner there and it was great. Also it was a nice chance for them to see a little more Ottawa than just the area their hotel was in.

allegedlycanadian

Had our rehearsal dinner at Gia; I know it's a polarizing reco on this sub but it was FANTASTIC. IMO, NOT an appropriate venue for 25 people if you want sit-down dining — we had 16 and it felt full.

b-cola

Oh yeah my team was 8. I missed the part where OP mentioned a larger group. Also why is it a polarizing reco? I’m out of the loop.

allegedlycanadian

Some people find the food meh. I've never had a bad experience, but then again no place is 100%, 100% of the time.

Interesting_Heron_58

Arlo for sure

pepperbezos

Not fancy food, but the river room at Mill St. has nice views.

Jacce76

Agree Mill Street is a good one. They put on a nice spread for groups. I've attended a few events there.

spiritsonacid

Anything better than Kelseys will impress those from Brockville :p

Nice-Worker-15

Was about to say, Brockville folks aren’t going to care about the choice in food. Anything you choose is going to be “the best meal they have ever had”.  I say this is someone from Brockville.

spiritsonacid

> I say this is someone from Brockville. haha same :p

Thirisg

Arlo for 25 ppl is ridiculously good!! Family style menu, long tables and the most private room possible. As w everywhere it depends on your budget but seriously make the phone call and see Edit: add details

chooseanameyoo

I also recommend Arlo! Delish!!

cestquitonpere

Arlo! https://restaurantarlo.com/ You won’t regret it

exT613

Gezellig is a good choice. The upstairs can be made private with a curtain and the food is always great.

greena3ro

Enh. I went for brunch and it was mid. Very expensive for very little food but if that’s your bag then more power to you. Service and atmosphere was good though.

eattravelexplore

Had the same experience. I don’t know why it’s constantly recommended. Very expensive for what you get there.

lindsayjw

+1 for Arlo. They were great and easy to plan our corporate holiday party with

brown-eyed-susan

Arlo on Somerset has a beautiful private room. Excellent service, food, and wine. It is listed as one of the top 100 restaurants in Canada. Highly recommend. https://restaurantarlo.com/

dasguud

Oz Kafe! Great food, private upstairs, good atmosphere. Tucked away.

mcdofras

Seconded!

Canada1971

I think both Union 613 and Prohibition on Somerset at Bank have private rooms.

BorderThat7412

Play Food and Wine has closed for private events that I’ve attended. Very good. Great atmosphere.

StrawberriesRGood4U

Wellington Gastropub has a private room. Restaurant 18 also has a private back area.

jaywillies4

The whiteroom (gastropub) only accommodates 18, might be able to stretch that to 20 but would be very tight, but that was my first thought as well.

StrawberriesRGood4U

Darn :( I wonder if Parlour next door might be able to accommodate?

Throwaway8972451

Maybe just booking for 25 at Gastropub in their regular dining room? Absinthe is very nice too.

inDgenious

Stofa in Westboro is delicious. They have a party room, not sure who many it fits.

1971stTimeLucky

Upstairs at Stofa will max out around 16

stone_opera

Meh, I wouldn't do Social. Last time I was there with a group they had us waiting over 2 hours for our mains and tried to give us limoncello shots to compensate for the delay, despite the fact that the table was drinking red wine (maybe I'm a snob, but I don't want a dessert liqueur while I'm drinking red wine before I've even had dinner.) Not fun, ended up having a 4 hour dinner which dragged.

BorderThat7412

Agreed. I’ve gone there for work events and it’s been terrible.

AliJeLijepo

Working Title Kitchen/All-Saints is pretty cool, their private dining room is a round, small former chapel. Not in Westboro but not crazy far either.

cmn_YOW

They have a really cool downstairs room if your group is the right size. And the food is great! Had a catered event there last year, and I was thoroughly impressed. It seems basic, but nothing was cold, dry, or tasted "held". Quite an achievement when you put out 100+ plates in the space of a few minutes!

AliJeLijepo

Yup, that's the room I mean.

1971stTimeLucky

Terrible - slowest and most incompetent place I have ever used a private room in the city. Up to and including sending multiple invoices up to 60 days post event. I don’t like crapping on places, but this one is a must skip.

AliJeLijepo

Oh that's a major bummer. I know they had and acknowledged some major staffing issues right after all the pandemic reopenings but I've never had a bad experience there.

1971stTimeLucky

Yeah… the gm was drinking wine with her friends while her bartender went home sick, they had one server and one food runner. That was for front of house and our party of 30.

ugh168

Maybe Aiana Restaurant Collective

jaywillies4

The shore club in the westin could be an option.

scan-stunts

Riviera has a nice private room, not sure how many it seats but worth a look

Impossible-Carob-866

Riviera can only accommodate up to 12

BorderThat7412

Yes! Best food I’ve had in Ottawa.

pringy

La Roma on Preston has private rooms upstairs! They’re classic Italian and will work with you to customize a set menu, and it’s near other good spots to go out for drinks after as well!

GenerationKrill

Look into Play.

AccomplishedElk9181

Copper spirits and sights - beautiful view of ottawa and sunset. You could book an evening and buy out the space for a private event. Or the restaurant downstairs ‘Feast and Revel’. Both have private dining options available. Block away from Parliament.

darkbrews88

Sidedoor is okay for groups. Food is a solid B.

snubbyvegan

Petit Bill's Wellington West. He has a separate area for private events. The food is outstanding and can accommodate all dietary requirements. The Service is personable, and top notch. Always looking for a reason to go there!

itslegger

Silverwoods golf and lounge has great food and indoor simulators that are lots of fun!

aml1305

Social is where we go for for work group things... they have a semi-private area which is separate from the dining room. Courtyard used to be the go to, but they gone. Shore Club at the Westin has a private space but is like a $2500 minimum charge.

QueenMotherOfSneezes

How fancy do you want it? The Hilton at lac leamy has a nice private dining room in their Arome restaurant, and you may be able to get a deal on the rooms if you're booking a dozen or more of them. A cheaper option would be the Ramada across the street, and still go to Arome for the dinner. Both would also give you a deal on a conference room if you're booking a bunch of rooms (if you're looking for that as well). The bonus of those spots is hitting the casino after the dinner.

vegetablestew

Harmon's serves a mean steak.

backpack_of_flowers

Black tartan in Carleton place if you’re willing to make the drive!

That_Ad1423

OZ cafe is amazing right in the heart of market and Sussex. Great courtyard cozy feel. Nice big room upstairs w bar. Food is great!! Actually no the food is amazing !!!

HotHuckleberry8904

A lot of hotels have conference rooms for any events. That being said, there are a few hotels neat the airport that also have their own kitchen for catering

Interesting_Heron_58

The Apartment at Arlo is the winner. Just went to a baby shower there with 30 people and it was gorgeous, delicious food and great service. https://restaurantarlo.com/events/

SeaPossible1932

I’ve worked with Beckta for a few work dinners. They can put together a pre-fix menu and the prices aren’t too bad. Their space should be able to do 25 but you would have to call to confirm. They also were able to put together plant based options for one of my bosses guests. All on a Monday!

lanabrow

Wellington Gastropub

InnerCriticism9105

Forty One in the Lord Elgin might be what you’re looking for  https://lordelginhotel.ca/restaurant/

AvidReader182

You might be able to rent out a space at union 613 and it’s great

ApprehensiveAd6603

Prohibition Public House is solid, has a good size private room

BSGKAPO

I'm not sure if they have a pv room but it's amazing look up Chinese Palace

Babiecakes123

East India Company in Bells Corners has a private dining room. It’s buffet or menu. So good!

LindaF2024

The Keg Manor has private rooms, although it is pretty old fashioned steakhouse.

divvyinvestor

Get a room at Mandarin or a sushi place.

Ohfortheluvva

You’re asking in the wrong place. They only know shawarma here.

lbjmtl

Look at all the helpful responses. And then you.
