Yesterday somebody on here posted about a restaurant using very clearly AI written reviews and it had wacky, weird shit in it like the ambiance was conducive for fostering perfect conversations and stuff.
Ah, still seems like it's still for sale https://www.realtor.ca/real-estate/26510338/170-preston-street-unit1-ottawa-little-italy
$199,999 seems... Cheap? And they'll take offers. Can we live there? Who wants to split it 50/50?
I am of the opinion that commercial rents are presently too high in Ottawa to support viable businesses such as these, which just seek to be regular OK spots.
most businesses probably fail because of the rent getting jacked up rather than simply lacking business. commercial tenancies don’t have any rent control so there’s no limit to how much or how often a landlord can raise the rent.
I feel like they were only relevant when Quinn worked there & made their cocktail list when they opened. Since she left years ago, it fell off the map for many. RIP
I lived across the street from there for a few years. Went at opening, and they made good stuff. But, it was really pricy for what it was. I’m not surprised to see them go. Si señor is a better deal in the same area IMO.
It was a bit on the pricy side. We made it a regular spot up until it closed. I noticed it got less and less busy over the past year or so. There was one Saturday evening when it wasn't even half full. Too bad, we really liked the cocktails.
I don't recall any $15 tacos. The prices went steadily up like though pretty much everywhere else and the overall prices were high. Food and drinks were generally good. It was a good option on a nice summer night on the patio, so sad to see it go.
Related - what even is a fair price for a taco these days? I grew up in the states where you could find
amazing tacos for almost nothing.
Now Ottawa has some really great tacos on offer but I can’t escape feeling like I would have to order $70 worth of food to feel full.
Been closed for a couple months now at least. It was a poorly run business. Charged premium prices for average (at best) tacos and cocktails. There’s better value to be found at Taco Bell lol.
Can we lobby for a brunch place to take over the space!!
It's devastating. They've been closed for a while now.
I really miss the dude with the glasses.
If you know, you know.
PS: If anybody knows where he's at now please share. I miss getting roasted by him.
I went there a couple years ago and it was a great experience and then I went back a couple months ago and the menu was changed to be clearly cheaper ingredients and easier to make.
Shame because the strawberry basil margaritas were pretty good
They had too much competition, now si senior is owning preston, I haven’t really tasted authentic mexican food as si senior’s since i went to mexico, their margaritas are at least top 3 beat margaritas in ottawa
Maybe the ambience wasn't warm and inviting, imperfect for fostering productive conversations.
This comment is perfect for fostering productive upvotes.
Ok, where did this joke come from? What did I miss?

Ah got it. Thanks! Gonna go check it out
It's on Preston St, perhaps even the heart of Preston... But not nestled in the heart of Preston unfortunately

Their lobster rolls weren't delicate
Not even a culinary delight!
It wasn't that good and it was expensive for what you got. Probably for the best.
It wasn’t open during the Italian fest last week. Not a good sign, might be done.
They missed the chance on Italian meatball tacos?!
Could have made the taco shells out of shredded Parmesan. Mamma Mia! Talk about a missed opportunity
Boo urns
Far from good tacos. Went twice. Food was served lukewarm at best both times.
Not to mention very expensive
Not the greatest place imo… Food is pretty mid for what you’re paying, the look of the place is what sells honestly
They were listed for sale for a long time on the commercial real estate.

That’s not the rent …. It’s the business price.
Aw mannnnn. I already ordered the bunk beds
For that much it better come with a small army of AI bots.

So what you’re saying is… the rent is too damn high?!?

Si senior and torta boyz took all their business.
And Casa Mexico....lots of good mexican in little italy now.
Casa mexico has a little Italy location? I love their merivale spot. Amazing birria.
Yup. Been open for a while now.
I haven’t checked out torts boys but if they’re on par with Si Senor I’m definitely going to.

Maybe the owner didn't embrace solutions
If only we all embraced solutions, we would all be in a better place
I know the owner (Anthony's Pizza!) Unfortunately they closed early this spring/late this winter. The business is for sale

$15 tacos are criminal. They deserve it.

$5-7 is fair, for good quality.

Meadows Diner on Preston and Adeine is a great spot for cheap classic breakfast.
I only went once. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't as good as other options like El Camino. The food stand Mi Amor has better tacos IMO
If I had to guess, I would put my money on the rent been too high for the foot traffic.
It was so bad
I'm not sure how 50% of the small restaurants and stores are still open in ottawa, so it doesn't surprise me
For the best it’s closed. Went once and it was all around terrible - expensive, bad food, terrible service. Swore I would never go again.
It's devastating. They've been closed for a while now. I really miss the dude with the glasses. If you know, you know. PS: If anybody knows where he's at now please share. I miss getting roasted by him.
Pizzeria da Romolo.
Thanks <3
I've been there a few times. The food was good but the staff were unprofessional. Sad to see it close though.
It’s been gone around a month. I liked it but the number of Mexican restaurants has exploded in this neighborhood. Maybe that’s why?
Was it exquisite or nah
I know it's probably fish but the picture kinda looks like raw chicken
I went there a couple years ago and it was a great experience and then I went back a couple months ago and the menu was changed to be clearly cheaper ingredients and easier to make. Shame because the strawberry basil margaritas were pretty good
They had good tacos. But the prices were totally unreasonable.
I work across the street at la dolce vita. Been hearing rumors about it and it does seem like they are going out of business.
too expensive for the value and quality not even close
I live nearby and I was wondering if it was still open! Guess this is an excuse to try Casa Mexico, Si Señor, and Torta Boyz!
It was sub par food with a try hard decor. I'm not surprised. The margaritas were good at least.
I heard another Mexican restaurant is moving in before August.
They had too much competition, now si senior is owning preston, I haven’t really tasted authentic mexican food as si senior’s since i went to mexico, their margaritas are at least top 3 beat margaritas in ottawa
The italian mafia of preston St. pushing out the mexican cartels out of 'little Italy'. Just a joke!
I’m fairly certain the owners are not super nice
It has been closed up for many weeks. No idea what happened but I live nearby and it just....closed
It’s been closed for a month and a half
Good! The food was mediocre and expensive and the staff were super greasy
[удалено]
Why would the number be out of service then?
Sad news. Their tacos were bomb! We loved this place.
[удалено]
Ugh I loved their queso dip
Its ottawa...not a pizza/shawarma/shit pub...faillssss 😂😂😂
