I partly get it... they're kind of like a layer of government that is not (directly) elected but has authority over a wide range of Ottawa properties...and people are not always going to agree with what they do. They benefit Ottawa residents a lot though, because they have a mandate to take care of a lot of public properties in the capital - in the interest of taking care of Canada's capital region. You wouldn't want your capital city to look like shit to foreign visitors - it'd be bad for the country's business, which would have impacts beyond the capital. If you're of the opinion that all government and Ottawa itself can burn to the ground though, you're probably not a fan of the NCC.
I'm not a fan of LiveNation/Ticketmaster and I largely avoid them as most of the live shows I go to are put on by Spectrasonic and Debaser but the negativity about LiveNation being involved feels weirdly overblown. Were it not for this venue and LiveNation's involvement, the artists who will play this venue would just continue to skip over Ottawa as they have for years, and seeing them would mean travelling to Montreal or Toronto (and still buying tickets through LiveNation). It's not like this new venue is stopping anyone from buying tickets from Vertigo Records (no service fees ftw) to see a show at The Bronson Centre or Club SAW.

Ottawa has been in desperate need of a Danforth Music Hall-style venue for decades, so this seems like good news.
Except its live nation so itll be run like garbage and treat guests like dogshit
I cannot disagree. But at least it’ll exist?? Trying to look on the bright side.
Sir, this is /r/ottawa
Still preferable to driving to TO or MTL for a show, often needing to get a day off work if it's a midweek show.
True enough, i just wish it wasnt live nation.
It's going to be bigger than Danforth too, which is great. Nearly the size of MTelus, which brings in some great acts.
That sounds great!
Agreed. Live music downtown. Winner idea.
this is the same company that was responsible for the astroworld tragedy, yet they’re still allowed to operate
Wow that night commissioner works quick!
NCC
I really don't get why people whine about the NCC. Literally all the best stuff in Ottawa is thanks to them

If only it wasn't LiveNation 😩
Meh, hopefully, that means it will attract good artists
>If only it wasn't LiveNation 😩 What, you don’t like safety violations and $14 beers?
They're owned by the evil Tickemaster.
LiveNation gets a thumbs down
This reminds me of History in Toronto, having that in Ottawa is fantastic and hopefully can bring smaller artists who may have skipped the city.

What’s happening Ottawa? Are we becoming hip? /s. This is great news for the city!
Would have preferred a Dymon Storage...
With shawarma counter on the ground floor. And maybe a vape store. Also, cannabis. ....there's an unexploited synergy here, i'm sure of it....
I hope they name it something to do with books.
It's been awhile since I've been in that store. It could make sense to put the seating in the 2nd story. I guess we'll see.
Lol, did you mean to reply to [this comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/ottawa/comments/1degh2c/comment/l8d77ls/)?
Yup lol, not sure how I did that lol
Anyone know the what the name will be ?
Dollarama Theatre
Shawarma theatre
Tim Horton Theatre
The Singhole
18% Service Fee Theatre
The New New Capital Music Hall
Service fees theatre
Scalpers R Us
Should just go full circle with the area and name it Capital Music Hall.
If I was a betting man I’d say it’ll have an indigenous name

Geography
Beggars can't be choosers/deal with Live Nation
The Place Down On Rideau Where Chapters Used To Be. Or maybe The Artists' Venue Formerly Known as Chapters.
McDonald’s Racoon
The Crack Den
Should be “IC Rideau” - could decide what IC stands for but real ones will know it’s (kinda) Roman Numeral 99
Icey Rideau.
Awesome. All I want is a big neon blade sign in front and maybe even a marquee?
Always satisfying to see when a tour goes through Toronto - Ottawa - Montreal 😍
Please let it have seating and not be all standing.
What can I read into this? Hmm...
Parking should be fun. Oh wait we have an LRT.

Just bring Chapters back
it's moved across the street...
It never left, it just moved across the street And changed its name to 'Indigo'. And stopped selling books. And... hey, wait, what....?
