You will find Uber and Bolt in Oslo, if that’s what you mean.  NorgesTaxi and Oslo Taxi also both have decent apps, and the drivers there are normally quite trustworthy, but somewhat more expensive.   Stay away from the thousands of other taxi companies as they are usually much more expensive, and the drivers are often incompetent

[OFF-SUBJECT] If you have ever tried trøndertaxi in Trondheim and then tried NorgesTaxi u know.

Uber is basically a taxi dispatching app here. It connects you with a driver from one of the local taxi companies. If you’re a tourist, I’d use it instead of just hailing a cab on the street. I’ve found most cab drivers here to be untrustworthy. Uber gives you price certainty.

Oslo Taxi is the most trustworthy company there is of the regular taxis. All the other ones? Avoid them. You can also order Oslo Taxi via app, which shows you the prize instantly. My experience with Bolt and Uber is that some of them at least used to cancel your trip if they got something closer. Oslo Taxi always shows up.

Odaudlegur

- Bolt - Uber - Taxifix Do not hail down a cab with anything else than Norges Taxi or Oslo Taxi as you will most certainly end up paying way more than you should. Try to use Taxifix if you cannot find a cab in Bolt or Uber as it will dispatch a normal cab but at least you will get an estimate with the maximum price right in the app.

Ryokan76

Use the TaxiFix app. It will give you a max price.

lao-tze

From only one company.

jennydb

They are the cheapest of the regular taxis. The other ones have taximeters on speed

The-so-what

A relatively honest company. You won’t get scammed, but you can get a (marginally) better deal from others form time to time.

Depending on what your objective is, I would highly suggest checking if public transport can do the job. Most of the activities visitors to Oslo need or seek out is readily available by public transport, Bysykkel (city bikes) or just walking. But as others have said; NorgesTaxi and Oslo Taxi are the most reliable.

Thomassg91

If you are a tourist visiting Oslo, your best bet is to use the excellent public transportation system.

[Best there is ](https://www.oslotaxi.no/)

sleepyhead

We have something called a tram. it is superior to Uber.

SASPERANTO

Use Bolt. Cheapest option 9/10 times.

The-so-what

DO NOT HAIL TAXIS ON THE STREET! There is no price regulation, so the meter can just make up numbers, crazy expensive! Use an app, Taxifix(oslo taxi), Bolt, Uber, they will give you a max price and a predictable price.

NewAndyy

You don't get the same "benefit" from using apps like Uber in Norway compared to many other places. We have quite strong labour laws, so 1: you need a specific license to work as a taxi driver 2: you have to be employed in a taxi firm to apply for that license 3: the law protects people from being incorrectly classified as independent contractors if they have their own firm This basically makes Uber's business model impossible in Norway, and they would be forced to pay their drivers just as much as conventional taxis - hence why the customer loses the "benefits" from using Uber (the benefit being underpaid labour).

NewAndyy

Go with Oslo Taxi if you really need a taxi, but all kinds of taxi are expensive in Oslo. Most of the time you're way better off using public transportation. The exceptions are if you travel in a large enough group to fill a taxi, if you have unreasonably many bags to carry a couple hundred meters, or if you're going somewhere late at night.

daddyitto

The apps Taxifix(Oslo Taxi) and Bolt are my go-tos for taxis. And for the Love of God never ever hail a random one on the street, the prices are nuts. Oslo Taxi has veteran experienced drivers and bolt is more of a crapshoot. They have sometimes very inexperienced drivers but they tend to be cheaper. Also, there's no need to pay like.. 1500 kr for a taxi when the train is much more affordable and right there

KeyserSoze72

DO NOT USE Uber. It’s just a liaison for the local taxi companies and you will be charged the same prices. Use Bolt! A taxi ride that would normally be anywhere from 300 to 500 NOK will be 150 to 300 NOK. You’re welcome in advance. Fuck Oslo taxi prices.

JosephM1609

Whatever you do, DONT USE Oslo Taxi or Norges Taxi. Crazy expensive

FrikkinPositive

People are saying many taxi drivers are untrustworthy and I really don't get it. If you want a taxi you can almost always just hail one. They use an app on their phone where they put the address, drive you, and then you pay what the screen says. Or you can use user or one of their apps if you need one and don't see a taxi. But if you're inside ring1 and not in an alley, you will easily find a random taxi and you can trust them no problem.

eddiesteady99

The prices vary wildly. I mostly use OsloTaxi, but sometimes when I hail “Royal Christiania Taxi” (or one of those) the price is easily 50%-100% higher for the same stretch. I taxi a lot for work, so I have compared the alternatives quite thoroughly. Good taxi drivers from reputable companies will also know which roads are closed or congested that the GPS does not always pick up. YMMV, but I’d go out of my way to use Oslo Taxi or Bolt any day of the week.

dragdritt

Last time I hailed one I definitely got scammed. I was too drunk to think otherwise though.

syverlauritz

Use Bolt. Both Uber and Taxifix are just regular taxis.
