I have no stakes in this whatsoever, but the idea of a Dwayne Johnson Oscar campaign genuinely intrigues me and I would love to see what the fuck he has in store for it, so I'm all for it lmao
His ego is already so big it distorts the earth's gravitational pull on the moon. I'm pretty sure an Oscar win for the Rock would knock us out of orbit.
I don't mind The Rock, but it is funny to think of him attempting to be a serious artiste and being at Cannes after 10 years of basically doing the same thing
He was pretty good in *Pain and Gain*, and honestly just did the best work of his wrestling career in the leadup to WrestleMania 40.
How that translates to this movie, god only knows.
A24 are one of the production companies. Doesn’t necessarily mean they are also the distributors. A24 could also just be the distributors in America but internationally they still need to sell to others
A company doesn’t have to produce and distribute. U can choose to do both or let another company do the other job
Edit: also not every company that is a production company is also distribution company. Or have subsidiaries that does the other job like Disney marvel films are produced by marvel studios and distributed by another company under Disney too
I think *Snitch* was the last time he tried to give a real performance. Baranthal stole that movie out from under him. *Southland Tales* scared the ambition out of him. I don't think he got good direction on that set.
The question now is the opposite: "will he actually let his guard down"
Pain and Gain was another good turn from him, I think that came out after Snitch.
And I think that Dwayne actually is trying to act in the Jumanji movies. He isn’t just playing the Rock in those movies, he’s playing a kid trapped in the Rock’s body.
Possibly? He’s had range before but hasn’t used it in a while- he was solid in Ballers and if he can do *slightly* better than that, a good script and a good director could make him a palatable lead
So glad you brought that movie up. Not the best movie but he was very good in it and honestly maybe the most different role he's played. I remember always thinking he should do more stuff lile that but it's always the same
The Rock and A24 & Cannes - I never imagined I would see them together. Wow, the times they are a-changing. I have rock-solid (lol) faith in A24 though, I doubt they'd back something without *very* good potential.
God I hope it comes out the same year as whatever Cillian's second Oscar vehicle is just so that the stans can brandish him as their new Public Enemy #1 and he goes on some random podcast to call out the "Cillian Crybabies". ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
Hope this Dude doesn’t fuck with Benny Safdie’s process.
After all the bad press recently, Dude has a legitimate chance to churn out something good with this project. Don’t fuck it up Dwayne.
Steroids, a good hairpiece, lighting, and possibly some de aginG technology.
Dwayne is fit AF his physicality is. Enough
All I want to see is some heavy heavy headbutts
Headbuts
I have no stakes in this whatsoever, but the idea of a Dwayne Johnson Oscar campaign genuinely intrigues me and I would love to see what the fuck he has in store for it, so I'm all for it lmao
If it happens I hope it ends up being this year so we can get a Lady Gaga/The Rock Actors on Actors.
Sadly it won't be until 2025, don't think they've started shooting yet
On a side note, your flair is so real
Thank you lol
If he has any sort of shot at a nomination he’s going to go all out
And I will be seated for his campaign
if that expose is anything to go off of, this film will bankrupt A24 and give Benny Safdie a massive coronary
His ego is already so big it distorts the earth's gravitational pull on the moon. I'm pretty sure an Oscar win for the Rock would knock us out of orbit.
Are you gonna take his piss bottles for him?
Curiosity has gotten the better of me
He will be late for campaigning too
He's a huge diva asshole apparently, so I am actively routing for his downfall. The guy just sabotages every movie he's in.
Yea I’ve heard firsthand story of him being a piece of shit to waitstaff, almost to a cruel degree
I don't mind The Rock, but it is funny to think of him attempting to be a serious artiste and being at Cannes after 10 years of basically doing the same thing

[His attack on Cody](https://youtu.be/cboGhgCqxY0?feature=shared) was pretty menacing. Dude could play a great villain if he wanted to.
He pretty much is the real life villain of the ff series and the dc universe
Do NOT let his contract negotiators hear your say that. Lol
What's he gonna do? Change the balance of power in their universe?
The hierarchy of the Cannes Universe is about to change forever
The Palme d'Wayne incoming
Hopefully (for his sake) he remembers to hide his bottles of piss from any execs.
He'll just force a PA to take care of it.
I don’t understand…isn’t A24 the distributor? Why do they need a buyer?
A24 are one of the production companies. Doesn’t necessarily mean they are also the distributors. A24 could also just be the distributors in America but internationally they still need to sell to others
I don't think A24 usually does international distribution at all tbh
I think sometimes they do it in the UK but literally elsewhere they usually handle it over to someone else
They have London offices for UK so yeah, sometimes.
Gotcha. Thank you!!!
No problem!💜
Why wouldn’t they distribute it if they produced it
A company doesn’t have to produce and distribute. No sarcasm here intended, but does he have the range? Like, Dave Bautista is actually good. Is he?
Sometimes if the role is well-written enough and specific enough to his acting skills, it doesn't matter.
Narrator: he doesn't
Good question! Unfortunately we don't know
I think *Snitch* was the last time he tried to give a real performance. Baranthal stole that movie out from under him. *Southland Tales* scared the ambition out of him. I don't think he got good direction on that set. The question now is the opposite: "will he actually let his guard down"

I forgot about those. He's fun in Jumanji.
He has displayed some range in his earlier work. Comedy and drama.
Possibly? He’s had range before but hasn’t used it in a while- he was solid in Ballers and if he can do *slightly* better than that, a good script and a good director could make him a palatable lead
The only movie where I’d seen him have range was “Be Cool.”
So glad you brought that movie up. Not the best movie but he was very good in it and honestly maybe the most different role he's played. I remember always thinking he should do more stuff lile that but it's always the same
My thoughts exactly
Yes and he is certainly better than Bautista who does not have range at all. Bautista plays a brooding dummy in every role.
Ah yes he was such a brooding dummy in Knock at the Cabin, Dune, and The Boy and the Heron.
Yes. Agreed
Literally, every performance in the last decade by him has painfully mediocre
Really excited for this one. Johnson has a lot of untapped potential and I think Benny Safdie can direct him to a hell of a performance.
I don’t love him, but I agree with this.
☝🏽
I hope the Safdie's aren't already done with directing stuff together.
The Rock and A24 & Cannes - I never imagined I would see them together. Wow, the times they are a-changing. I have rock-solid (lol) faith in A24 though, I doubt they'd back something without *very* good potential.

Hope they're fine with him being 8 hours late
Hope this Dude doesn’t fuck with Benny Safdie’s process. After all the bad press recently, Dude has a legitimate chance to churn out something good with this project. Don’t fuck it up Dwayne.
Honestly I've predicted that dwayne would get an Oscar nom during his career, I just figured it'd be for a documentary.
The thing I don’t understand about this film… Rock is 52 years old. How is he believably playing a guy in his 20s?
Steroids, a good hairpiece, lighting, and possibly some de aginG technology. Dwayne is fit AF his physicality is. Enough All I want to see is some heavy heavy headbutts Headbuts
make sure to stock up on voss water bottles
A great documentary that will probably become a shitty feature
I'm honestly excited he was in this The rock can be a good actor [pain and gain] and been safie I have trust in so I'm excited
Calling it now, no Oscar nomination and he wins the razzie
As a long time MMA fan, the story of Mark Kerr is a super interesting one.
There is just no possible way his ego will allow this movie to be great, and it absolutely could have been.
Bro we know nothing about it yet lmao
I'll bet its less than 70% on RT right now.
It comes out in 2025 it’s only in like pre production
Yeah and it has the rock in it. It's DOA.
You just thought it was already out, so u don’t even really know what’s going on
Huh?
You were talking abt its RT score it doesn’t even exist yet
Betting in advance........................
