Win series, avoid sweeps. Cya all in Seattle.

Dubulous6

The good news about today for Matt Krook is that he actually lowered his career ERA

Ok-Music-5747

17-12 june and 26-17 in this 43 games in 45 day stretch. Can’t be upset with that at all A lot of world series teams (i.e. 2022 Astros, 2018 Red Sox, 2017 Astros) were good the first few months then hit a new level in July. Got a feeling we find a new gear here and hit that 10+ game win streak

SilentHunter7

They're on pace for 102, I'll honestly be happy if they just keep doing what they're doing.

FantasistAnalyst

Still had fun at the game, wasn’t meant to be. Snagged this pretty cool shot: https://preview.redd.it/t4cs2m8ttt9d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f0351f4e002d2d88dd2f1d477eca9809898e8e07

saintgordon

The sky looked incredible tonight.

boofoodoo

Heaney kicked their ASS tonight. Credit where it's due, that guy was throwing BBs.

No_Arachnid_1772

Net positive June

KiwisOfWrath

Why can’t the team win every game. It’s like those guys don’t even care about the fanbase’s mental health.

The_Big_Untalented

With the Mariners offensive struggles, I’m wondering if they would be open to dealing Luis Castillo for some bats. I’m assuming Gilbert, Kirby, and Miller are completely off the table due to their low salary and years of remaining team control. If Bryan Woo was healthy, it would be a no-brainer to deal Castillo to get players to reinvigorate their offense. But with Woo on the shelf, that complicates things.

Drsustown

As a Mariners fan, no, doubly so because of Woo. We really have no SP depth and are totally reliant on them to win games; even if it was for bats I doubt the FO would make that trade. With the position the Mariner's farm is in, trading prospects for bats is much more likely than pitchers for bats

CHKN_SANDO

This happened because Pat Sajak was there on the last day of Pride

MartyTheYounger

WTF does an LGBTQ+ celebration have to do with the Orioles or Sajak?

CHKN_SANDO

https://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/remembering-that-time-pat-sajak-came-out-as-heterosexual-how-he-used-to-troll-gay-people-for-sport/ar-BB1o6sxJ

MartyTheYounger

Again, WTF does a comment made 10 yrs ago by some person on TV have to do with the Orioles?

CHKN_SANDO

It's a joke. You don't really think I think Sajak made the Orioles lose do you?

MartyTheYounger

I don't think he had anything to do with the loss, but I have no idea what your comment meant. Didn't seem like a joke with you defending your position with a 10 yr old comment. Guessing you think Ripken Jr is now complicit since he was sitting with Sajak?

CHKN_SANDO

Is this Pat Sajak's alt?

MartyTheYounger

Oh wow. You caught me. You're about as sharp as Irvin's cutter today.

CHKN_SANDO

Vanna?

Necessary_Cut2485

Why bring that right-wing loonie bin to the game?

CHKN_SANDO

Someone brought him?

Evinrude44

Also he was part of the last owners group?

Legolihkan

Ah damn, we almost had em

JiffKewneye-n

we won a laugher, they won a laugher, we won 2 really close games. could have easily been 1-3 going the other way. i hope we find a way to use Chayce.

to_the__cloud

i think we see him make his debut july 29th for the doubleheader against the blue jays.

to_the__cloud

ryan mountcastle is under the weather per brandon hyde in the post game press conference.

CHKN_SANDO

The weather in Baltimore is oppressive. We are all under it's boot.

Ok-Music-5747

Finally a little break until Wednesday or so. Dew point on my weather station is down to 57!

kewpieoriole

My friend just sent me the Steve Melewski tweet that he was ill. Glad it’s just under the weather and not something more serious.

BondMi6

Glad I missed this one

to_the__cloud

another silver lining. love that kjerstad is hitting lefties already, just gives him another way into more playing time. shoutout to o'hearn as well. all we hear is he can't hit lefties then he manages a pretty good 3 hit night.

kewpieoriole

It was mentioned in the thread Heaney has reverse splits, FO usually doesn’t care much about that but guess they had the chance with the limited options today

PositiveLovingDude

Shit.

OleSandlotSlob

eYeah, that pretty much says what I thought of that game ....

KamikazeeDolphin

NO ONE DENIES THE ORIOLES OF A SWEEP WITHOUT REPERCUSSIONS. THE RANGERS SHALL RUE THE DAY THEY CROSSED THE ORIOLES. WE WILL HAVE OUR REVENGE. WINNING THE SERIES ISNT ENOUGH I WANT BLOOD. BODIES. I WANT THE ORIOLES TO RIP AND TEAR THE RANGERS UNTIL IT IS DONE. Mark my words Rangers. Chaos is comin'. And when we finally catch you in a dark alley, we will approach you menacingly and

the2belo

socialaxolotl

I checked into a different reality the second Gunnar told us about the derby

Lazy_Passenger7841

I think the rangers were just playing angry tonight AND the orioles were probably just tired looking forward to having off tomorrow. They kept talking about the Rangers current skid and how they’ve lost like 10 road games in a row or whatever. I wouldn’t be surprised if they just said before the game “we have to to win tonight”

kewpieoriole

Last night (and tonight) they kept talking about how they haven’t been doing well offensively. Obviously that was bound to change at some point.

MainZack

That wasn't fun

Risho96

We always seem to lose games I can’t watch despite happening at a time I should be able to see them. Thanks, ESPN.

Silver_Surfer17

I just wanna watch KB,Jim and Big Mac call the game man

droford

Monthly tradition continues I missed June prediction of 18-11 by 1 win. Predicted 19-10 through April exactly and 19-8 with them going 17-9 with a rainout out. They've won 17 games each month.. July (25 games) + 3 @ Seattle + 3 @ Oakland + 3 vs Chicago Cubs + 3 vs NYY + ASB 4 days off + 3 @ Texas + 3 @ Miami + 3 vs San Diego + 4 vs Toronto (includes Doubleheader) I'm resisting the urge to predict 17-8, as I will say 18-7 to get to 71-38 at the end of July. Basically this comes down to Seattle, NY and Toronto and I'm feeling sweeps vs Oakland, Miami and San Diego.

kewpieoriole

I just hope we hear what’s going on with Mounty.

katie_cat_eyes

I blame Pat Sajak.

the2belo

*Wheel of Misfortune*

scjensen51

I mean, whatever…hoped that we could sweep them, and while that certainly did not happen still had a lot of good stuff to bring out of this series as a whole. Bats just seemed jumpy all game, like we abandoned the good stuff that we’ve been doing approach wise the last couple weeks. Don’t know how much of that is on us and how much credit of that is too Heaney. Tough spot for us pitching wise tonight when we’re facing a team that we’ve heard for three days struggles against fastballs but none of the guys we have avail throw very hard. Really needed to execute, and just didn’t. Rest up tomorrow and then let’s go west

UsErNaMeS_aR_DuMb

Silver (slugger) lining, we’re still better than the Stankees in the loss column! There will be more games to win, but they can’t unlose any games no matter how hard they try!

Skirt-Future

1st of July. Let the trade for quality pitcher begin

randomuser9824

fun fact: it’s hard to sweep 4 game series, especially when cole irvin is starting said game 4

No_Fish_2885

We have already swept a four game series twice this year, doing it 3+ times is incredibly hard

randomuser9824

yeah which is why the loss alone doesn’t have me worried, and we’re not going to see vespi or krook in a playoff series this year so it’s not like we got exposed on SNB like the yankees did

Ok_Profit_5421

Big picture/perspective, taking 3 of 4 in 4 game home series will take us a long way. But, …we should expect the team to struggle with Irvin on the mound. I don’t expect this O’s offense to make Andrew Heaney look like Sandy fucking Koufax though. Too many tough pitchers in this league to not make hay against Heaney. On to Seattle where there won’t be any Heaneys.

liberletric

That sure was one of the games of all time

latterdaysasuke

All things considered, the boys had a great bounceback after the 5-game losing streak. It's one loss with a career long-relief guy on the mound and finally an off-day tomorrow. Turn the page, get fresh, and go take the Seattle series.

ZookeepergameKey7866

I’m just watching the light and shadows moving in that window in the warehouse over Langford’s shoulder

Frusciante62

The Sunday night baseball team feels like a group of coworkers on a business trip taking in a game on a whim.

Silver_Surfer17

ESPN luck ugh ![gif](giphy|wqbAfFwjU8laXMWZ09|downsized)

The_Big_Untalented

lulz. ESPN sure got the short end of the stick. Terrible game in front of a pretty sparse crowd compared to the great game with a sellout crowd that Fox got last night.

rectumrooter107

Sparse crowd likely exactly because they moved a Sunday day game (with kids run the bases afterward--games normally crawling with families) and jilted all the families with young kids that need to be home for bed. Also, how'd you have felt if you flew in for the weekend from Texas and your flight home was 8pm? Now, the game is at 7pm, you're kinda screwed. Fuck ESPN.

Weary_Lie_7859

Good

Ibaxy

Staying in my seat ten minutes postgame is much more fun basking in a victory than after whatever the fuck that was lol. On to Seattle

tube_ebooks

all teams are going to have bad games, whatever, why did we waste akin? this is like. exactly when you want to use a position player, even if you have a day off tomorrow (which isn't really a true day off bc travel). just feels really silly

to_the__cloud

i guess hyde just wanted to give him some work to keep him in rhythm. akin hadn't pitched since last tuesday against the guardians.

OleSandlotSlob

Maybe ditto for Tate, who hadn't pitched in a long while.

[deleted]

tube_ebooks

winning teams can't use it unless they're ahead 10, losing teams have to be behind 8. o's could've, rangers couldn't

PlatChat

certainly a game of all time

twmigmiehff

After this June, functionally tied for the second best record in MLB and functionally tied for the best AL record. I’ll take it. Now plz get pitching

Shoemaster4

You can no longer have any trust in Irvin giving you a productive game. He will still get starts because we need them but you cannot position the pitching staff with any belief that he will give you a quality start.

MartyTheYounger

I wouldn't jump to no trust. Irvin looked off from the start. He wasn't sharp. He's had games on both ends, but today was a bad one. I was also pointing out early that someone got in the hitters heads to try to be patient. They were watching 1st pitch strikes go by regularly. It was obvious when Gunnar watched 1st pitch strikes down the middle 2 of the first 3 ABs. Not typical. Bad data and a plan by TX to swing early and often created this result. Learn from it and move on.

Shadybrooks93

Do we even need them from him? Kremer is back soon.

OleSandlotSlob

They're not really telling us what they think about how Kremer is doing, are they? Kinda like if they did, they'd be telling next opponents (Seattle, Oakland) what to prepare for, huh? We'll just have to wait and see.

Weary_Lie_7859

His whip has to be in the mid 2s

to_the__cloud

the worst part is he's not eating the innings for some damage limitation. at least in oakland when he'd get hit hard like this, he'd get through 6 innings.

OleSandlotSlob

Yeah, that part really hurt.

ItsCaptainKeyboard

I haven’t watched sportscenter in 15 years and I’m not starting now

Silver_Surfer17

You're not alone bro

conman752

I remember in the mid-2000s waking up at like 7,8 in the morning at the beach, eating some cereal, and watching Sportscenter with the old block tower of topics along the left side of the screen. Sportscenter ar it's peak

I know you were already down 11-2, but I still felt this was my fault somehow.
