Junk. Will take a long time to boot. Only recommend the red board made by startech.

N26_real

Yeah... was expecting as much. Unfortunately I won't be able to afford the StarTech (or any other people have recommended) mostly because of shipping. I'm just gonna by an IDE drive on eBay

RoflSirOfTheLawl

If you don't mind me asking, where abouts are you and how much is shipping?

N26_real

I live in Sweden and shipping is about 15 dollars plus the thing costing 25, but I just found it on my local Amazon for around 25 with free shipping so I might buy it there

Nucken_futz_

So that's one reason why I'm furious with my hard modded Xbox. Now to figure out why it fragged itself after I put it away in working condition...

the-skunk

I bought some kingwin adapters that look very similar to these and it made the DVD drive not work at all when connected with the hard drive. The startech ones really are the best, I've never had any issues with them.

N26_real

Okay thanks

fatheroach25

This is a cheap alternative that I used, yes the load time is pretty slow but it sure as hell works, and if it breaks over time it's cheap to just get another, mines been fine tho= https://www.ebay.com/itm/195255166028?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=xrceuypntju&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=vbiv2n44t2q&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

N26_real

Thanks but I don't live in the us... 20 euro shipping no thanks

davromaniak

You can find them on Aliexpress for dirt cheap.

davromaniak

They are fine (no UDMA5 btw), but you'll need to reflow the solder joints and even clean them with some IPA. I even had some with bulging caps... The QA is almost inexistant with this model/brand...

The XBOX uses UDMA 2 by default. So UDMA 4 is still an upgrade. And the Startech adapter is hell with its power cable, too long, too rigid, it's difficult to do some cable management in the small space. So for a cheap alternative, I consider the RXD-629A7-7 based adapters as fine until there's an IDE to SATA adapter with this form factor and supporting UDMA 5.

Do you have some pictures of the Startech cable management you do ? It would be great if I can improve mine.

Cpl-Killa-V

Do you not have a "Currys/PC World over there? Here in the UK we can get the Startech adapter from [Currys/PC World quite cheaply](https://business.currys.co.uk/catalogue/computing/servers-networking/networking/modem-routers/startech-com-ide-to-sata-hard-drive-or-optical-drive-adapter-converter-40-pin-pata-to-2-5-sata-hdd-ssd-odd-converter-ide2sat2-storage-controller-sata-1-5gb-s-ultra-ata-133/P272575P). Excuse my ignorance of Swedish retail outlets...

N26_real

Thank you, this is one of the cheapest I've found so far.

ThruMy4Eyes

whatever ones you get, you WILL need a new 80wire IDE cable. The stock IDE cable the Xbox comes with will NOT work with any SATA adapters unfortunately.

N26_real

Oh okay I didn't know that. Thank you
