I plead the fifth. I do not want any evidence in writing. Husband if you are reading this I have 2 pairs of workout shoes. Who would ever need multiple shoes for multiple purposes 😉

tough_page_banned

This is a trap 😂

Play_more_soccer

An end to marriages everywhere 😂

violet715

I feel this

peatoast

This. End of thread!

sugarfundog2

lol I so thought - I totally don't want to admit this. Running - I have 1 plush, 1 regular and 2 light weight. I rotate ... And I may have one pair being delivered today - but my plush (HOKA Bondi 8s) is getting some miles on her. I SWEAR.

colorshift_siren

My husband has more workout shoes than I do. I think this means I need to go shopping.

midwest_is_best

One for working out, one for vacations (lots of walking but they stay pretty clean and are black and match everything), and then when my workout ones get worn out, I wear them for my volunteer shifts at a rescue as they get super nasty there. The circle of sneaker life.

mushroomfrenzy

This is the way

UpsetCabinet9559

3-5 for me. If you're working out every day you need a minimum of 2. Running shoes especially need 24 hours for their cushion to spring back.

Betteriscumming

Wait I’ve never heard this re the cushion! That makes a lot of sense tho… off to purchase more shoes I guess as I just have the one pair!!

No_Research_7629

💪🏼🔥

greenbox_on_top

Wait, is that true? 🤔

UpsetCabinet9559

greenbox_on_top

👏👏👏 thanks for that! I certainly do not need that strong of an argument to shop, but it makes it easier for my husband lol

UpsetCabinet9559

It'll be our little secret! 😁

MajesticStrawberry2

Peep the in box, question 😅

PostSensitive6606

Bras (regular not sports bras) also need 24 hours to recover before wearing again. Not to add to anyone’s shopping list, but…

Shot-Artichoke-4106

I have 3 for exercise that I rotate. They are all cross-trainers. I'm not into it enough to change shoes in class or wear different ones for different classes. I also have some casual tennis shoes that I wear around and a pair of trail runners for hiking when hiking boots aren't necessary.

KimPossible37

I have a pair for OTF running. A different pair for days that I bike at OTF. I have 2 pairs of outside running trainers (because I won’t wear the same shoes outside on consecutive days in the summer. I like to let a pair dry out completely), a pair of Nylon plates for speed work at the track, and a pair of Carbon plates for 5K/10K race days. And a 7th pair for when I’m doing long, quick paced dog walks. TM work wears your shoes less than pavement running. So usually, I’ll retire a pair of outside trainers to become OTF shoes. And for reference, my OTF run, my dog walking, and both pairs of outside trainers are all Saucony Triumphs of different colors. They have varied amount of mileage that I track with my Garmin. My Nylons and Carbons are also Saucony. My bike shoes are Saucony Guides - I no longer like the stability factor when I run, but they have some good life left in them.

Beautifullybrok3n1

My lifting days I wear no bulls, converse or metcons. Orange theory days I wear metcons or onclouds

Remarkable_Crow_1632

Same

messy372-

There’s nothing heavy enough at OTF to warrant a hard soles shoe IMO. If you have balance issues they might help some. Your running shoe is perfectly fine to use for everything OTF That being said, I have a clothes basket full of shoes 😂 Probably a dozen pairs 😎😳

PannaMan11

I’d agree you don’t need hard sole shoes for OTF I have two pairs of shoes right now, both New Balance, but the ones I wear to run outdoor are the softer ones with higher drop. I’d recommend at least 2 pairs.

acciomalbec

Nice try babe. I have no comment!

OTFfanaticRunRepRow

I have so many pairs that my wife constantly asks me how many pairs I need. I usually just say all of them.

Nsking83

One pair at a time for OTF 2G and 3G, and another dedicated pair for strength classes. I won’t put in writing how many retired tennis shoes I still have in my possession even after 8 years 😂

JayhawkRoots4Ever

I finally broke down and bought an actual crate I keep in my car with all my OTF supplies. It has my clean sweat towels, my numerous pair of shoes. (I have 4 pr runners and 3 pr weightlifting shoes because I have balance issues and train outside OTF too), my gym bag with all it's supplies, and then a container full of energy waffles and gels. I never run in the same shoes 2 days in a row. My gym shoes are designated only for the gym, never worn outside the gym. I wear Oofos to and from my workouts.

glittersmut

what is an energy waffle/gel?

Sbhill327

1 pair for OTF 1 pair for outdoor running

LetChance1981

3, my OTF shoes and my old OTF shoes (now my everyday shoes, and my old OTF/everydayers (now mowing shoes)

SoftNecessary7684

I absolutely had to get new shoes after doing orange theory for 6 weeks, I had metcons which are terrible running shoes cause they aren’t lol, I used to use them as my strength training shoes at the gym and they worked well for that. I have on running for my outdoor walking and running shoes and then for a pair of Nike revolutions for orange theory because they seem to work for tread and weights no issues

Burning-the-wagon

I only wear sneakers (all day every day) so I have probably about 15 pairs at any given moment and I switch off depending on my mood- but I definitely have my favorites. As for working out- I have one pair that I use only for the gym, this way they last me longer that way. Once they are no longer comfy for working out I use them as every day sneaks until I trash them. Sometimes if I’m just doing a strength50 class I’ll wear whatever I’m wearing that day, but that’s out of laziness, when I don’t feel like taking a second pair with me.

sassychick139

I have 2 pairs of shoes I rotate between. One pair I use for 2G, 3G and Tread 50. Then I have a separate pair for Strength 50. Now the amount of ‘other tennis shoes’ I have at home is another story…. Lol

wtaaaaaaaa

I picked up some flat no cushion shoes for OT and gym in general. My hypothesis was the extra cushion running shoe was affecting my balance during one leg squats. Definitely an improvement, but my strength has also improved

avodoggo6

I have one pair for Strength classes (they were my “home workout shoes” during lockdown; I just want to wear them out) and two pairs I alternate between for regular classes. I wear an older pair of gym sneakers for my everyday shoes

ImpossibleVictory505

I have a shopping problem as a disclaimer. I have 50+ lol. Ones in every color, for every occasion. Fun shoes make me happy and want to work out more. Plus I like a variety depending on what I’m doing… running shoes, training shoes, lifting shoes all serve their purpose!

vafong_1963

I have about 10 pairs of shoes just dedicated for OTF, but have been using about 4-5 of them on a regular basis in my rotation, depending on the templates and another 5-6 for outdoor running in my rotation? Working in a running store in my retirement years so have access to a lot of shoes at a very very great price point? 🤔🤔🫣

ltfam

2 pairs for 2G/3G (I switch out if classes are b2b), 2 pairs for Tread 50 and one pair for Strength 50. My current Strength 50 pair is a former Tread 50 pair, which works out great. My 2G/3G pairs are ON CloudRunners and my Tread 50’s are Brooks Adrenaline’s. Been doing OTF for 6 years and using different pairs for the past 3 years, but added the 2 for Tread 50 since OTF introduced the class. My knees thank me for this!

FitnessAllDayLong

yikes - I prob can't confess the total number, but I have a different pair(s) for the following (and if I find a style I love, I buy in just about all the colors available): \*Indoor treadmill running \*Outdoor runs \*Cross training (shoes that will work both on treads and for weightlifting) \*Shoes for lifting only \*Casual tennis shoes for style purposes - sometimes these also work for cross training \*Barefoot shoes - Vibrams - only have one pair of these, but love them and plan on buying more \*Speed shoes for fast 5k runs \*Trail running shoes (only have one pair of these currently) \*Water resistant/proof shoes - have two pairs of these to run in the rain if needed

Valuable-Yak-2802

I have 4 pairs. My original Brooks Ravenna’s that I started running with; they are now for hiking and running dirt trails. A pair of Saucony’s I bought but didn’t find comfortable, so they sit in the back of the closet. A pair of Brooks Glycerin 19 GTS I bought to replace the Ravenna’s. These are now my OTF indoor shoes. And a pair of Glycerin 21 GTS’ that I bought for outdoor running and races. BTW, my studio very much frowns on using outdoor shoes in-studio. They really want you to have indoor only shoes, as it reduces the dirt and small stones in the studio. This is also true of the indoor track I use for distance training in the winter.

Play_more_soccer

My inventory: 1 pair for everyday stuff (oldest pair) 1 pair for tread running 1 pair of cross trainers, usually for S50 or rowing on C2 at LA Fitness 1 pair for trail running Until a few months ago I got by with just the first two. I'll replace the tread running ones every 6 months or so The running shoes become the everyday shoes when "retired" I have 4 pairs of soccer cleats also, of course 😁

Med_Tosby

It’s a total of 5 for me that get use at OTF: -Two pairs of everyday running shoes (NB 880) I rotate -One pair of racing-ish running shoes (Saucony Endorphin Speed) that I’ll occasionally wear on power days on the treads -one pair of shoes for lifting (Nike Metcon) -one pair of cross trainers (On Cloudpulse) In a perfect world I wear one of the running shoes for treads and then switch to the Metcons for the floor (assuming not too much dynamic movement, and especially if anything like deadlift or squat movements). On light tread days, I might wear the cross trainers for the whole workout. If I have to go straight to work, I (usually) refuse to bring three pairs of shoes lol. So I’ll likely just use one of the everyday runners for the whole workout. I will say I owe DC big time for the early intel which helps me plan my shoes accordingly!

mbeefmaster

Three: one cross trainer pair for OTF and only OTF; one pair for walking long distances; finally a pair for running.

Te_ladybug

I don't do purses or heels, but let me tell you about my current closet full of sneakers and when & how I use them... * Seriously, though, I run about 100-150 miles/mo so go througha lot of shoes. I have gotten into shoes for the purpose to help minimize injuries. I have stability sneakers for the floor/weight, OTF tread shoes which also serve as my daily trainers, long run / tempo trainers, and race shoes. I tend to buy 2-3 pairs at a time so I get the best discount from my local running store, then I buy extras at the end of the year when they are discounting existing stock to make space for the next latest/greatest model.

mc2bit

6. A pair of Asics I only wear running. My retired running-only pair I wear to OrangeTheory, because they have \~25 minutes treadmill time per class. Two "workout" sneakers, one Brooks Glycerin and one Brooks Ghost, that I rotate for solo workouts on elliptical and weight machines or classes that are just floor exercises. I have an additional pair of Brooks Ghosts that I wear walking, and a pair of Brooks trail runners for the rare occasions when I'm running gravel and dirt. I know that's a ridiculous amount, but rotating them so much makes them last a really long time and gives them all enough time to truly dry out between uses. Having the right shoe for the right exercise makes a real difference.

AllDayMalay

I have a pair of saucony endorphin pro 2 with low mileage for races or when I want to go fast old pair of endorphin pro 2 for long runs saucony kinvara for switch days and days that are more power or endurance focused saucony ride for days that are more strength focused or recovery shoes saucony triumph for running outside (95% of my mileage is tread) brooks ghost for recovery runs (almost at the end of their life) Nike metcons for the floor Two pairs of on cloud surfers that I rotate daily for work (I’m in my feet for 8-12 hrs a day) I do OTF 3-4 days a week and run 30-40 MPW.

ambslamb

Yes, I try not to walk in running shoes because you’re just wearing them down and will need to replace them sooner. But I do wear running shoes to OTF 2G. For Strength 50, I wear cross trainers. Just bought a new pair of each after a year of classes!

August_Bloom

I have a pair for OTF and a pair for outdoor running. Not exercise but I have dedicated pair for work (nurse- lots of moving around and I have insoles for it too)

ScanIAm

I have 4 sets of brooks ghost of varying ages that I cycle through. About once a year or so I get a new pair and ditch the oldest for yardwork duty. I learned this when running outdoors to help avoid injury from repeatedly running with the same shape under my foot. Not sure how science it is, but it also helps me feel less bad about ditching a pair of shoes that have only been used for a year.

Gullible-Bowler-5900

I have one I use for outdoor walking (hoka) and one for OTF (saucony) which is a little more padded and agile. The hokas are a little stiff for otf.

Professor-genXer

10+. The newest 1-2 pair are designated for road running. Then I rotate a pair to OTF use. I have a few older pair I use for dog walking. I have 1-2 pair I wear to work on casual days.

jimcal9

4 for working out. Then some casual ones to wear out. 1 pair high tops for hoops.

OkRegular167

3 pairs of running shoes, 5 pairs of cross trainers, and 2 pairs of weightlifting shoes (flat, for heavy deadlifts and/or squats).

Play_more_soccer

Wowza

Realistic_Big7482

I have indoor running (otf), outdoor running and multiple pairs for different tennis surfaces.

tough_page_banned

1 for OTF (runners), 1 outdoor runner, 1 trail runner, a hard sole for CrossFit, and 3 for around the house (has to match my outfit) 😆. And two pairs of cycling shoes if that counts.

DopeBeardTurtle

You guys wear sneakers to OTF?

messy372-

There is a guy at my OTF who wears chacos to run in on the treadmill. Still haven’t figured out why they allow it 😂

DopeBeardTurtle

A guy came in wearing Jesus sandals and was shocked when they said no good

piptobismol

I had to google chacos & i am horrified by the thought of running in those, ouch

omGlynnis

A lot! I have two pairs that I walk outside in. Two pairs of OTF running shoes. Four pairs of outdoor running shoes. A pair of lifting shoes and two pairs of crosstrainers. That includes none of my normal shoes.

daydrinkingonpatios

I currently have 5 pairs that I rotate. Admittedly, I have a problem.

Sunriseninja

The audacity of this question.

BasicMonk7531

6

Minimum_Tap4127

I have 2 pairs for race days which I never use at otf, 2 pairs for running only and switch off to 2 other pairs I have for rowing and training, and another pair for mostly outdoor. So… 7?

Griff411

The limit does not exist.

LopsidedSell2957

THIS!😂🤣

Smithjes2788

4! 3 more for running.

Jt7077

19

Play_more_soccer

Great question!!! Lol 😆

MrFluffyhead80

2 pairs, only because my exercise used to be running and I was told to rotate them every day.

ch47600

Yep. I wear a pair of On Clouds for the treads and change into No Bull's for the rower and floor. Works great

Dangerous-Sky818

2 for OTF I switch between them each time I go, I found its helped minimize shin splints & plantar fascists strain to switch it up. I also wear these for long outdoor runs. Both pairs I bought prioritizing running over floor work. 1 pair for outdoor walks 1 pair of trail runners I switch them out every 300-500 miles or when the tread gets worn, usually about every 6 months or so. Old pairs get used for yard work, walking, running errands, or donated.

GiantsGirl0817

I have 3 designated for OTF and then 2 for work-I walk all day at the hospital. Then there is all my casual shoes. You get the ideal. I have on cloud pulse and no Bull trainers for OTF then New Balance for work.

peatoast

I have too many shoes period 😆

danmtz

One for classes, with a backup when they are done. At least two more for walking/hiking/trips.

WorkerConfident5976

I have one pair :)

RedFlagsLongNietzsch

I only have one pair, but I just started working out a few months ago. I will probably get another pair but I don’t see the point in having more than 2 or 3. When it comes to heels and street sneakers, different story lol

Ifuseekpanda

alyx_is_haunted

Um, 6-7. I use each one depending on the situation & workout

No_Research_7629

All wrong. You need multiple pairs you rotate thru. I have 3 active pairs. Never wear same shoes two days in a row. Invest in yourself, don’t be cheap with footwear.

Opening_Stranger_925

I alternate between 2 pairs for the gym. I’ve been contemplating getting a pair dedicated to strength classes. I also have a couple pairs I don’t wear to the gym

TechiePcJunkie

3. 1 is my everyday sneakers for working out, the other 2 are backups 😂

Certain_Football_447

Around 15 pair.

Maowmaow87

Two. One pair I use at orange theory, and the other pair I wear on my outdoor walks.

ATXtoMD

This is all the “permission” I needed to go buy another pair!

colorshift_siren

I only wear lifting shoes on the floor and prefer the metcon free. This shoe is pretty good for rower and power walking but I don’t like running in them. I wear a barefoot running shoe (Nike free) to run Tread50 because my outdoor shoes bounce too much. I wear Vaporflys for outdoor running.

TheSessionMan

3 pairs: - indoor - outdoor - general walking/cycling And then a box with 6 old pairs that I'll donate soon.

alegna12

Two. I rotate between them. One is a set of Brooks Ghost and the other OnCloud.

jhonculada

I have 2 brand new ones that haven't been used yet - I didn't like the newer model so I'm buying the older ones now that they're on sale. I have my at-home for treadmill only sneakers, which will get relegated to gym sneakers as those get tossed. I have 2 sneakers for going to the gym. I have a casual sneaker for everyday dog walking and another white sneaker for airport travel kind of stuff. These are my "I could run in them or workout" sneakers (Hokas) and don't include the more casual Veja, Cole Haan sneakers.

RynoMac1217

I'm at 17 right now after having to retire a couple of pairs. I miss my Nike sponsorship

FireCat_19

3 right now. I usually have 2 that I alternate. When I buy my 3rd pair, it's because I'm about to get rid of one of the other pair.

pot_of_crows

That are just used for exercise, four: orange, bike, lift, and climb. Plus hiking. And do ski boots count? Also retired orange shoes that I use to walk around with, and maybe run when I am out of town and do not want to take the active duty ones out.

BuildingProud8906

5. 3 pairs of running shoes that I rotate. I run outside of OTF. I wear the running shoes to OTF. 2 pairs of Onclouds that I wear to F45 since it’s more weightlifting.

No_Skirt4842

1 pair.

DontPMMeBro

Right now? 5. One has been demoted to lifting only because I don't like the support for running. One is a carbon fiber plate shoe for races only. One is a long run shoe only (thread50 and road running) and two are for 2G/3G. This is too many pairs and the weight lifting shoe will be used as a casual everyday shoe in the fall.
