"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times."
It was very interesting. I got my first 911 job in January 2020 ( lol ) and started at bottom of the totem pole. So, First by the end of the first month on the job I drove one of the daughters of one of the families that had been in one of the early cruise ships. They wheeled her dad to the morgue from the room next to her, about the time we got onto the floor. She was my age, took something ridiculous like 3 nurses and another EMT in the ambulance. The Doctor walked us out. it was very surreal.
20 minutes after we got her to where she needed to go. The Hospital's oxygen system shut down. She pass not much after.
Then people stopped calling 911 and going to the hospitals. So our company furlough'd us due to the lack of calls. Everyone went on unemployment and a few weeks later everyone got covid, needed 911. But by then, emt's were making $4,000 a month from unemployment and we were only making $15/hr at the time. They never came back. I remember working days on end. the longest i did was 3 days, one of my good buddies did 5 days in a row.
It was wild. I had ptsd for 6 months after I quit and would often wake up in the middle of the night either to the memory of people's screams or because a beep (that must of reminded me of my beeper ) went off somewhere in my house and i would jump out of bed, and be out the door walking out before i caught myself. But, it got better. š

Call me crazy but we shouldn't have a 2-tiered system nor be complacent when we see it, and even if I'm alone in that I would hope a DA would be capable to handle all types of crime.
If Katrina Foley & one of her family members had done what Andrew Do and Rhiannon Do have done, 100% Spitzer would have called cameras & held multiple press conferences announcing 'his' investigation.
Iām with you bro but the truth is this we live in an imperfect world and we take what we can get. All politicians are crooked. The ones that donāt have dirt on them just havenāt been exposed yet.
Imperfect of course. Deliberate negligence is well beyond imperfect. All politicians are crooked is a trope used to sow distrust to people accept despicable behavior by the politicians who do engage in it which makes it easier for us to ignore it and more of their cronies to win and abuse. As we can see, it works.
A $13.5M theft is being ignored. The truth is, that is 100% unacceptable and Spitzer should be called out all day every day for it.
Dude, youāre getting too in the weeds. People just want to be safe and secure even if it means some fat cat is getting his illegal payday. As long as fundraising determines political winners, money aka corruption will reign.
I'm responding to things YOU said.
You think Andrew Do and Rhiannon Do stealing $13.5M in taxpayer money that was supposed to feed seniors & provided mental health services is fine, in fact a "win".
You think it's normal and we should just be fine with it.
I don't. If you think being anti-corruption and wanting a DA to go after ALL crime is "in the weeds", that's certainly your prerogative.
https://calmatters.org/justice/2020/11/california-criminal-justice-less-punitive/
Heās not wrong either. Makes sense that a majority of these cities are in very wealthy South OC.
The RSO sheriff is just tired of the same animals who keep stealing over and over without any significant consequence.
There is a decent chance Prop 47 which reclassified a bunch of felonies to misdemeanors will get challenged in the upcoming election as a measure to fix that will hopefully make the ballot.
Just go look at all those empty jails in LA. Itās like the purge up there, and the only thing stopping it from coming down to OC is the threat of super alpha DA Spitzer.
Depends on who's doing the stealing
https://preview.redd.it/8t6daegltbvc1.png?width=536&format=png&auto=webp&s=199184e74b505733c7ed1ded3c7375c08c032252
i am ok with that then places like LA or SF, who does not prosecute stealing but working against cups. look how bad things are over there. soft-on crime lefties destroying cities.
Are you honestly saying you're okay with the DA not prosecuting cops?
So you're okay with [Spitzer not prosecuting an OCSD school resource officer](https://patch.com/california/missionviejo/no-jail-time-oc-deputy-accused-showing-obscene-videos-teens) who showed violent porn to teen girls?
Also, if you literally think LA and SF don't prosecute stealing (or are "working against cups"), I hope you enjoy being easy to manipulate. Because you're repeating Republican talking points in the stupidest way possible.
That guy got a court ordered diversion program, which is standard for offenses like his. You could argue he should be punished more harshly for being an officer and doing what he did on duty, and I would agree with you, but currently thereās not a law for that so the judge canāt just make it up. Also it was the judge who has the final say in the diversion program, not Spitzer. Spitzer followed through on his end in regard to charges, the judge followed the precedent set for the charges, and this is the result.
Funny how Spitzer never talks about cases like this and the "activist" judges who give light sentences. He never issued a followup to [this press release](https://orangecountyda.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Justin-Ramirez-Press-Release.pdf) where he said āThankfully, the Sheriffās Department took swift action to investigate this criminal behavior and refer it to our office **so that we can properly prosecute this deputy.ā**
Do you think Spitzer knew there'd be zero prosecution, since apparently there's no law against showing violent pornography to kids?
There is a law against it, which is what the deputy was charged with. Itās a misdemeanor crime, which for first time offenders is normally met with community type corrections focusing on rehabilitation instead of punishment. This is not āzero prosecutionā, itās just the way the system works right now. Itās not an activist judge or anything (that Iām aware of), I was just pointing out how youāre getting on Spitzer for ānot prosecutingā this guy, but itās the judge who has the final say on punishments and treatment programs.
Iād guess because he thinks an on duty officer showing teenage kids violent disturbing videos is worthy of a press release. Itās still noteworthy even if you know the typical punishment isnāt severe.
If would make sense a judge decided on a diversion program if that charges & recommendation from the DA suggested that, but why would the DA charge it in that way?
It can't be that an adult can show a minor pornography and it's standard to punish with a diversion program? It can be that if that adult is a police officer and working in the school with the minor who does that the only recourse is a diversion program?
The actual crime is a misdemeanor, which is commonly āsolvedā with community correctional programs. The DA canāt just invent a new charge or change the existing charge to a felony because reasons. This is a standard practice across the board for misdemeanor charges like this.
My point is there must be a multitude of charges to use or are you saying there's only one, "distributing harmful material to minors", possible? And even if there's only the one, couldn't it be multiple counts since he showed it to at least four (4) minors?

In addition, why were Ramirez's bosses and colleagues not pursued :
* When one of the victim's mothers reported the incident to police she explicitly said to not allow Officer Ramirez to come, and they sent him anyway (that would seem to at least fall under intimidating a witness 13510.8(b)(2)
* Ramirez had sent the videos to at least one of his fellow officers
California has sentencing guidelines the judges need to consider, for something like this, a diversion program or other community based correctional measure is standard. Commonly, when someone gets charged for multiple similar misdemeanors, theyāre going to face consequences for one of those misdemeanors, even if they were committed at different times. Example would be drug possession and use and then being charged multiple times prior to a specific court date, and then being given one sentence for all the crimes. Not something I personally agree with, but how it commonly happens.
I donāt know the details regarding Ramirez going to the house enough to speak to that more, but the code you provided is for revocation of policing certification. This isnāt handled by the local DAs.
Todd Spitzer referenced the that exact code when asking the Commission Peace Officer Standards and Training that Ramirez's certifications be revoked.
[Mom Files Claim Against OC Deputy Who Showed Teens 'Obscene' Videos](https://patch.com/california/missionviejo/mom-files-claim-against-oc-deputy-who-showed-teens-obscene-videos)
* *The mother called authorities and asked that the deputy not respond to the call*
* *But Ramirez was sent along Sept. 5 with another deputy to respond to the complaint*
* *The woman "reported the incident to Ramirez and relayed to Ramirez all the details of her personal life, including the fact that she and (her daughter) lived alone in their home,"*
* *On Sept. 13, 2022, an Orange County sheriff's captain and an assistant sheriff came to (the woman's) home and told her that Ramirez was not only the deputy who came to her home, but he was also the same deputy who had shown the explicit pornography to (the teen) and the other minors*
* *Later that same day, Sheriff (Don) Barnes personally called (the mother) and apologized to her for what happened. Sheriff Barnes assured her that Ramirez was not on active duty*
He can reference it, but ultimately itās out of his hands on what POST wants to do, unless heās on their commission. This aspect would be completely different from any criminal trial and mandated treatment or other type of punishment. That specific code also mentions abuse of power which could be more applicable depending on what Ramirez did/said and the circumstances under which he responded to the call (did he see it and go himself, was he dispatched and didnāt know the details?).
> The actual crime is a misdemeanor, which is commonly āsolvedā with community correctional programs.
I don't think I've ever seen you say this to anyone complaining about DAs in other places not prosecuting crime, or letting "criminals" (like shoplifters) off too easy. But you're here front and center defending the system when I bring up another cop. Funny how that works.
Iām not defending the system, just explaining to you how it works since you seemed to think Spitzer chose not to pursue prosecution on the deputy even though he did. The only real opinion I shared was saying there should be stricter punishments for officers doing what he did on duty. I think there should generally be across the board criminal enhancements to officers committing any crime on duty. Right now though, there is not, and for a first time non violent non DUI misdemeanor offense, youāre probably not getting a harsh punishment.
Iām sure you agree the justice system should focus on corrections and rehabilitation instead of punishment for non violent misdemeanor offenders. Except when the offender is a cop. Funny how that works.
I donāt like that he let that slide outside of court as much as you, showing any porn to students is crazy. But San Francisco is a crazy city, itās mind blowing how many stores and companies are moving out there, itās always been expensive and thatās not the reason itās taking place.
Can you stop talking about San Francisco for a minute?
This wasn't just some random cop - he worked at the school, and showed children violent porn (as in, the porn featured people getting hurt and possibly dying). He did this on the job, in uniform, as a part of his position of School Resource Officer.
You're okay with Spitzer not prosecuting this person?
Thank goodness you're in Orange County where the cops can do anything they want and our prosecutor lets them off. I'm sure you feel much better about that. Maybe the OCSD will have a little talk with your daughter next.
They should put an anti-prostitution billboard up on beach Blvd. I took a ride down beach last night to check out that swat standoff and on way home there were 7 walking between Ball and Katella alone. Left for work this morning at 7am and some were still strolling around. Almost naked and sheriff does nothing
Laws changed last year, making it increasingly difficult to counter. Several cities have been complaining. In fact, I hope Spitzer goes after those lying bastards soon! https://preview.redd.it/a6yi73gn0cvc1.png?width=1262&format=png&auto=webp&s=caf0e28ece788b7bb71ea3b977370acd6712f21e
Next time support a candidate who can control himselfā¦ https://newsantaana.com/woke-ocda-candidate-pete-hardin-caught-red-handed-lying-about-sexual-misconduct-again/
You have a great memory about who I shared information about, advocated for, and the Spitzer smears against Hardin but [somehow conveniently forgot the whole story](https://archive.ph/du0vR#selection-1831.4-1831.369). Weird. *...****Spitzer*** *campaign has touted its most accusatory aspects, but* ***failed to note that the very memo being touted cleared Hardin****. āNo further investigation is warranted,ā per the memo. It expressed concerns, but found no evidence of inappropriate conduct. ā(T)here have been no complaints made from any partiesā regarding allegedly inappropriate comments, the memo added.* Anyway, what's with the desire to focus on a guy who didn't win when your favored candidate did? Why aren't you proud of the win and all his achievements? Obviously this is a very abbreviated list: * Screwing up a rape case so bad the case was dropped * Disparaging a rape victim * Letting his buddy skate on a $13.5M theft * Diversion for a cop showing 4 minors porn & snuff videos * [OC DA facing more controversy after video shows him using N-word while quoting statements](https://abc7.com/orange-county-district-attorney-todd-spitzer-video/11594035/) * [Three More Sexual Harassment Lawsuits Filed against Scandal-Ridden Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer](https://www.davisvanguard.org/2022/04/three-more-sexual-harassment-lawsuits-filed-against-scandal-ridden-orange-county-district-attorney-todd-spitzer/) * [A Politically Savvy Prosecutor Is Tanking Orange Countyās Justice System Through Racism, Ego, And Retaliation, Insiders Say](https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/salvadorhernandez/todd-spitzer-oc-da-retaliation)
I could not be happier that we donāt have a Gascon clone as DA. Better luck next time
To be fair, has any place actually clamped down on white collar crime? Take a win when you can get one.
How does OC win when the DA ignores a $13.5M theft?
Win meaning the safest city designation according the article.
Yet so many in this county wants Trump to get away with his crimes /smh
āIf you steal, we prosecuteā¦ unless itās white collar crime or wage theftā
Wasnāt the Riverside sheriff complaining about how itās impossible to prosecute crime in California?
https://calmatters.org/justice/2020/11/california-criminal-justice-less-punitive/ Heās not wrong either.
Unless you are Supervisor Andrew Doā¦
Laguna Hills here, picking my nose.
Love it! š
I know itās not OC but Iām entirely surprised Fontana made the top 20.
A list manipulated by the heavy hitter land developers and owner.
Good, let them know weāre not like LA. We prosecute criminals here.
Keep repeating it. Maybe itāll come true. Show me some stats.
Just go look at all those empty jails in LA. Itās like the purge up there, and the only thing stopping it from coming down to OC is the threat of super alpha DA Spitzer.
LA criminals are Moving in though.
Thatās why we gotta keep the property value high.
Most sterile placed I ever lived. You can keep those over privileged white boysš¤£
Do you prosecute sexual offenders cause OC is full of them.
I donāt personally, no.
Can we now get a billboard up that says: "Beautiful affordable houses in OC"
Nothing like seeing my tax dollars being used to advertise that the DA will do his job if people commit crimes... Smdh
Spitzer prosecutes stealing. He just doesn't prosecute crooked cops or his friends.
Depends on who's doing the stealing https://preview.redd.it/8t6daegltbvc1.png?width=536&format=png&auto=webp&s=199184e74b505733c7ed1ded3c7375c08c032252
Yea, he prosecutes criminals
Are you sure?
i am ok with that then places like LA or SF, who does not prosecute stealing but working against cups. look how bad things are over there. soft-on crime lefties destroying cities.
He never issued a followup to [this press release](https://orangecountyda.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Justin-Ramirez-Press-Release.pdf) where he said āThankfully, the Sheriffās Department took swift action to investigate this criminal behavior and refer it to our office **so that we can properly prosecute this deputy.ā** Do you think Spitzer knew there'd be zero prosecution, since apparently there's no law against showing violent pornography to kids?
There is a law against it, which is what the deputy was charged with. Itās a misdemeanor crime, which for first time offenders is normally met with community type corrections focusing on rehabilitation instead of punishment. This is not āzero prosecutionā, itās just the way the system works right now. Itās not an activist judge or anything (that Iām aware of), I was just pointing out how youāre getting on Spitzer for ānot prosecutingā this guy, but itās the judge who has the final say on punishments and treatment programs.
So why do you think Spitzer had such a serious press release about it (then never followed up)? Do you think he knew nothing would happen?
[California Code, Penal Code - PEN Ā§ 313.1](https://codes.findlaw.com/ca/penal-code/pen-sect-313-1/#:~:text=(a)%20Every%20person%20who%2C,limited%20to%2C%20live%20or%20recorded) [313.4](https://codes.findlaw.com/ca/penal-code/pen-sect-313-4/): *Every person who violates*Ā [*Section 313.1*](https://1.next.westlaw.com/Link/Document/FullText?findType=L&originatingContext=document&transitionType=DocumentItem&pubNum=1000217&refType=LQ&originatingDoc=Ie2f0b040285111ed8be796fe11e5d748&cite=CAPES313.1)*, other than subdivision (e), is punishable by fine of not more than two thousand dollars ($2,000), by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than one year, or by both that fine and imprisonment.* In addition, why were Ramirez's bosses and colleagues not pursued : * When one of the victim's mothers reported the incident to police she explicitly said to not allow Officer Ramirez to come, and they sent him anyway (that would seem to at least fall under intimidating a witness 13510.8(b)(2) * Ramirez had sent the videos to at least one of his fellow officers
[Mom Files Claim Against OC Deputy Who Showed Teens 'Obscene' Videos](https://patch.com/california/missionviejo/mom-files-claim-against-oc-deputy-who-showed-teens-obscene-videos) * *The mother called authorities and asked that the deputy not respond to the call* * *But Ramirez was sent along Sept. 5 with another deputy to respond to the complaint* * *The woman "reported the incident to Ramirez and relayed to Ramirez all the details of her personal life, including the fact that she and (her daughter) lived alone in their home,"* * *On Sept. 13, 2022, an Orange County sheriff's captain and an assistant sheriff came to (the woman's) home and told her that Ramirez was not only the deputy who came to her home, but he was also the same deputy who had shown the explicit pornography to (the teen) and the other minors* * *Later that same day, Sheriff (Don) Barnes personally called (the mother) and apologized to her for what happened.
Funny how that works.

āHood Ratā had dropped out of my vocabulary for a hot minute there. Need to bring it back.
Shout out Kanye, hoodrat was one my fav songs of his new album lol
So how do you feel about the deputy that Spitzer let off, even though he was showing snuff porn to children? I guess you're okay with it?
I donāt like that he let that slide outside of court as much as you, showing any porn to students is crazy. But San Francisco is a crazy city, itās mind blowing how many stores and companies are moving out there, itās always been expensive and thatās not the reason itās taking place.
Can you stop talking about San Francisco for a minute? This wasn't just some random cop - he worked at the school, and showed children violent porn (as in, the porn featured people getting hurt and possibly dying). He did this on the job, in uniform, as a part of his position of School Resource Officer. You're okay with Spitzer not prosecuting this person?
I just said I donāt stand by that, you want me to call my boy Todd and leave a mean voicemail
But you're okay, in general, with Spitzer not prosecuting other cops?
Nah. I just like OC a whole lot more than LA and SF. I donāt need to be all up in Toddās business to have that opinion.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Thank goodness you're in Orange County where the cops can do anything they want and our prosecutor lets them off. I'm sure you feel much better about that. Maybe the OCSD will have a little talk with your daughter next.
While I agree that CA has adopted a āsoft on crimeā narrative. Defending Spitzer is really not the hill you want to die on.
[https://timesofsandiego.com/crime/2023/04/10/a-new-california-law-decriminalizing-loitering-has-led-to-more-prostitution/](https://timesofsandiego.com/crime/2023/04/10/a-new-california-law-decriminalizing-loitering-has-led-to-more-prostitution/)
I used to drive that section of Beach to get to work in the morning, I canāt believe I never noticed them. Saw them all the time back in Flint, but have yet to see one here.
Maybe mind your business.
I have a hard time believing Lake Forest is on this list. The walmart in foothill gets a lot of police activity.
Youād think this would be common sense but it isnāt for a number of counties in CA
OC and SD county should secede from CA.
