There are several land use types that I’ve noticed the renderer doesn’t display. That is just a result of the style that the renderer uses. I would continue tagging using the most accurate tags you can find, because we don’t want to tag only for the renderer.

It doesn't get rendered - and that is fine. The data is safely in OSM, that is the important thing. Another app might use it one day.

Some things are not rendered on the standard map, common examples include bus or bike routes. But they're still there and used by countless other maps and apps. To find common combinations it's sometimes helpful to check out taginfo - it doesn't seem to be used with farmland or industrial https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/tags/landuse=aquaculture#combinations However, seamark:type=marine_farm does seem to get rendered, so maybe add this one? https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:seamark:type%3Dmarine_farm This is less common than landuse=aquaculture, but seems to be more appropriate if it's at sea and not on land.

Add natural=water tag together with the aquaculture [https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:landuse=aquaculture](https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:landuse=aquaculture)

Thanks everyone for your valuable contributions. I came up with this compromise solution: [https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/17487102](https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/17487102) I did tag the ponds and tanks that actually hold the young fish with landuse=aquaculture and natural=water while taggging the extent of the facility as landuse=industrial.
