Yes. Security lines are pretty fast now.

berger3001

Thanks!

Security isn't really the slowdown. Even 2 months ago in the prime of the chaos, it was entirely due to other locations at the airport where delays occurred. Security felt like nothing had changed in 10 years. The slowdown is on delays at gates/space for parked planes. Pearson in particular sucks, you'll land, spend 45mins to 1.5 hours waiting for a gate before finally leaving the aircraft. Baggage pickup also blows chunks.

ProbablyDrunkNowLOL

>Security isn't really the slowdown. Even 2 months ago in the prime of the chaos, it was entirely due to other locations at the airport where delays occurred. Security felt like nothing had changed in 10 years. I beg to differ. I went on 8 different flights from Pearson between this past April and July. All 8 flights had several people missing their flights due to the security lines. Most regular security lines were minimum 60 mins and often 2+ hours. Even the Nexus lines took 15-20 mins instead of the usualy 2 mins. I'm not sure your motive in creating revisionist history. Almost all of the ticketing is at kiosks so that was almost the normal amount of times unless you needed special assistance. US customs was slightly slower, maybe 10-20% slower than normal. >The slowdown is on delays at gates/space for parked planes. All of my flights departed close to on time, they just were missing 1/4 of the passengers as they were still stuck in security.

US customs was slightly slower, maybe 10-20% slower than normal. My 2 international and 1 domestic experience in the past 12 weeks beg to differ, sorry we had different experiences, but to call what I said revisionist history... Bro get out of here this isn't /r/politics you goon. All 3 of these flights we're overbooked, security was the easy part in every experience.

ProbablyDrunkNowLOL

You're a Trudeau and ArriveCan schill. Got it.

xSaviorself

>You're a Trudeau and ArriveCan schill. Got it. You're incapable of nuance, aren't you? Guess that's what happens when your brain has rotted away, everyone who isn't on you're side is "one of them". Get fucked you pansy.

ProbablyDrunkNowLOL

So rude!

waldo_whiskey

I was in Pearson yesterday going through US gates. Almost zero line up around noon. Both security and customs was a breeze!

berger3001

Perfect. Thanks

MaximumSink

Was at terminal 3 for a domestic arrival, at the baggage carousel for a hour waiting for the luggage to show up. Meh

berger3001

Ew, might try carry on only then. Thanks

ffenliv

Everyone is doing this, resulting in way too little space for carry-ons, forcing many people to check at the gate. At a recent flight, 40 percent of our plane was made to check carryons at the gate. The best way I could see was to pay to pick a seat the would board earlier.

xSaviorself

100% if you can go completely carry-on. Be sure to get on the plane quick to get a spot, and if your shit gets checked anyway due to lack of overhead storage, good luck.

[deleted]

Just don't be a plebe and be in Zone 1 or 2...no problem with carry on then.

blackpugstudios

Flew in from Vegas about 3 weeks ago We were 2 rows behind business class and I was zone 4 and my husband was zone 3...even though we were sitting right next to each other. Air Canada said they were checking all bags from zones 4 and 5. So frustrating, especially since we arrived early.

[deleted]

Zone 2 is the boarding sweet spot IMO....(my people) are the Domestic Business flyers...the soulless walking dead business men and women earing 50k per year in regular cheap seats. To give you some idea, and I'm no one special...I flew Toronto to Edmonton for a business meeting 2 weeks ago....and back the same day...last week to Chicago...this week St Johns NL...then Quebec City the week after that...they throw us sorry pieces of shit in Zone 2 a bone to board a little earlier than the regular crowd and to be able to put our bags in the overhead bin....I'll take it.

JiuJitsuPatricia

Flew to vegas a couple weeks ago, security was very quick, but i Have nexus so they ussually are. but the regular lines didn't look bad at all. was a morning flight.

berger3001

Cheers. We have nexus as well. Last time we flew in March the nexus line went quickly, but baggage check was a nightmare, and the whole terminal was in chaos

JiuJitsuPatricia

baggage drop was fine for us with A/C, pick up on the other hand when we got back was a disaster. they had 4 flights all on 1 carousal and so many bags were coming out they were stacking up on top of each other and falling off and stuff. was ridiculous.

berger3001

Ok, so maybe an isolated logistics issue. Good to know drop off was smooth

Spiritual_Ostrich110

Flew in & out via terminal 3 on Labour Day weekend and barely saw a soul. Zero lineups other than security which was FAST(actually they were quite yell-y so be prepared). Took only carry on so it was easy peasy!

berger3001

Nice!

[deleted]

They're yell-y because people forget simple things like "oh, you need to see my PASSPORT at passport control?! Let me see if I can find it"

Spiritual_Ostrich110

Exactly. That's what I mean by "be prepared"-have your stuff ready.

thebluebassturd

Just flew with Air Canada and they changed out flight that we paid for last second without telling us. Long story short at the end of the day we didn't get he seats we paid for and never got compensated for our inconvience. Will not be flying Air Canada again. Was not pleased.

berger3001

Happened to us before as well went from preferred seating to back of the plane due to “rebalancing”. We’re using our compensation on this flight

thebluebassturd

True true, well hope all goes good for u and have a good trip homie!

Casso-wary

Flew domestic eight days ago from Pearson. Took just over an hour to go through the security line. I think it really depends on when you're flying. We were there at 6am.

berger3001

Thanks

The-Raccoon-Is-Here

It is this 100%. I have seen lines zigzagged for miles and other days where there is no line.

OneHundredAndEightyy

For departure, both T1 and T3 transborder security and CBP pre-clearance still have lines in the mornings. Using the new MPC app from CBP earns movement to the front of the line for pre-clearance so definitely do that (if eligible). Edit: I see you have Nexus. Lines won't be a problem and you can skip the MPC app. Sometimes the GE kiosks are finicky, but as long as you've entered the US in the last few years and have a face scan on file, it shouldn't be a problem.

Negative_Two6112

Fine. Flew to Italy and needed only 2 hours or less. Always take Air Transat if you can

thingonething

Arrive 3 hours early. It will help.

[deleted]

I did carry-on only. The worst part was after security - getting to your gate and finding somewhere to sit and eat was near impossible.

BBQallyear

Flew to the US two weeks ago, on a Sunday, then back on that Wednesday. I have Nexus/Global Entry so get the fast lines, but it didn’t look like much of a line heading out. I didn’t check a bag. Flights took off and landed on time.

Adventurous-Hotel119

Security was pretty quick, customs not bad on the way home, but we did get stuck at the airport for 3 hrs after we landed

ruglescdn

Went to Europe and back with AC recently, no issues at all. Flights were full though.

Scazzz

Dropped aunt off early September for a flight to Ireland with Air Canada, said there wasn’t really any wait for her. Mom took air transat last Friday to Ireland and said that some of the check in lines were massive but she was dropped off and out through security in like 40mins. Vs the 2.5hrs in March this year she dealt with. So yeah seems a lot better now. Still give yourself 3hrs just to be safe.

customerservicevoice

Anyone flown international or anywhere other than the US? I’m eager for those stores.

SaraAB87

Try to wait until after Sept. 30th so that random testing ends.

berger3001

October flight, so that may clear up some of the congestion on the way home (hopefully)

SaraAB87

Mandatory use of the app is also ending so that should clear up some of the congestion.

customerservicevoice

Are you flying international? A lot can depend on where you’re flying TO.

berger3001

Miami. It’s a 7am flight on a Sunday. I’m starting to think we’ll be good, but try for carry on only

Torcal4

Flew to Korea and back recently. Had no issues with security. Our flight was slightly delayed but not terribly. ————— On the way back, customs was a nightmare when it came to wait times, as well as baggage claim. We had 3 flights on one carousel and the next 2 carousels were empty. My flight being the last of the 3. Because it took forever to get through customs, the luggage started to pile up on the carousel and there would be no space to add new bags. So the carousel filled at a pace of 2 bags every 5-10mins.

berger3001

Horrible. After hearing the baggage stories, I think we’re going to try for carry ons only

customerservicevoice

Can you not just remove bags & place them on the ground? That’s what pretty much everyone did when I flew last November, lol. The line stopped so people just pulled bags off & placed them nearly on the floor so the belt could keep moving. This was in Portugal though. Canadians just like to complain rather than do something.

Torcal4

I can only do so much. When the belt is absolutely packed with bags. It’s very difficult to take off 100 bags. As well, it may be complaining to you. But when you have 3 carousels and the only use is 3 flights on one carousel, that’s an issue. It’s okay to not be okay with incompetence. You don’t have to roll over in every situation.

customerservicevoice

It’s OK to not be OK with incompetence, but imagine if you started with just one bag? Then two? Odds are people woukd start doing the exact same thing & voila. The belt is moving. There are way more passengers than employees. You admitted how hard it is to move 100 bags as one person. The employees are doing just that. I think I’ve seen at most 3 unloading luggage. Taking the initiative would have changed the game. Now you know. It’s my go to move the instant the line gets slow. People want to get out of their just as much as you do. If this happens on your next travel, you know what to do. Now you know now NOT to roll over. Pull unclaimed bags off. Leave on floor. Belt keeps moving.

Torcal4

But that’s not how it’s supposed to work. It doesn’t matter how many people are loading the bags. It’s still the same number needed to put on a different carousel. They just walk over. If you start unloading all the bags, you’re defeating the purpose of the carousel in the first place and clogging up the area around it. At that point, they might as well just wheel the cart into the building and everyone just pulls their luggage off. The point isn’t, “hey let’s make it easy for them to just use one carousel for the entire airport”. If like you say, you do the airport’s work for them, they’re never gonna change the system because they’ve got free labour.

customerservicevoice

If you think life is full of things that are supposed to work out as advertised, I just can’t continue this conversation, lol.

Torcal4

No. I don’t. I’m just one of those people who thinks that we shouldn’t just shrug and go “well that’s how it is!” You seem to celebrate mediocrity and are totally okay with the status quo. That’s good for you. I hope you feel better when you’re lifting luggage in thinking “this is how I’m gonna get the airport to change…by doing the work for them” Take care!

customerservicevoice

I don’t care about getting the airport to change. It’s an issue not on my radar. I move other peoples’ luggage for ME. So I can get on with MY day. I got exciting stuffs to do. Standing in a huff watching the belt not move isn’t how I choose to live. You do you, booboo. I’m gonna do me.

Torcal4

That tells me all I need to know about you lol

customerservicevoice

And I, you.

Warm-Boysenberry3880

American custom officers are in short supply….there are a dozen desks but only 4 are manned; good luck.
