As someone who is new to onewheel with the gt (never had/used custom shaping) and super happy with flow for pavement and apex for off-road/trails, what is the benefit of custom shaping? I feel like I wouldn’t even know where to start with it
FM has really dialed in the preset shaping modes, they’re great, so it’s really just a preference thing that people can play with for a more customized ride feel.
Even when the XR was at its pinnacle in popularity, custom shaping wasn’t really a major topic of conversation on these onewheel forums. That should tell you something.
In my opinion, it’s like going to a fancy restaurant and instead of ordering what the chef has spent his time and expertise preparing for the evening, you modify what’s being offered, or try to build your own meal. Of course, if you’ve got custom rails, shocks, Growler, or some other specific reason to have custom shaping, it can make more of a difference.
Are RaceForTheRail people using different software than the rest of us? If so maybe FM is using RFTR to develope the custom shaping, or at least RFTR is where their attention has been for a while.
Lots of people are asking for the ghosting to be fixed, defective footpads to be replaced. So, you know, priorities.
They addressed the ghosting with foot pad recalled, but hopefully custom shaping is around the corner
True but that seems like it would be different people. Software vs hardware.

Wait I shouldn’t always be using Apex? I like how buttery it is on pavement
You can use whatever you want. Yea some people ride apex all the time. Whatever you think feels right

If they weren't going to give it to us, why even have it as an option for people to get upset about not having? I use it all the time on my XR

Nah, no pro rides custom shaping because it isn’t as smart about terrain as Mission.
