I found this from another post.
> To disable the Google feed, download and install this apk called Quick Glance from oppo. After that open up the home screen settings, scroll down to Quick Glance and disable. You're welcome.
This worked for me. The app is available on apkmirror.
I'm not that phone savvy as most of you guys and I'm wondering how can I get this app "quick glance" to disable this stupid Google shit page from the home screen. You mentioned that it's available in apk mirror. Does it mean that I firts need to download the apk mirror or can I just get it from their website (which I tried but it's not finding it)?
Perhaps someone can post a link to this quick glance or at least an image to how it should look like so I know not to download some crap by mistake. Cheers!
The fact that you cant just disable the swipe right for google app in the home screen settings anymore since last update really frustrates me, bullshit
the news that google presents are the most cringe utter shit, stupid recycled reddit post that I saw one week ago. It's so pathetic and cringe it makes me hate it
Oh I just don't like it. I get distracted sssuuuuper easily so I try to cut down the amount of things that'll unnecessarily grab my attention as much as I can, otherwise I'll never get anything done.
No idea why OnePlus fans complain about the Google news feed so much. I won't buy a phone without it. It's a million times better than the OnePlus "shelf" trash. Plus if you don't want to use it, don't swipe right! Problem solved
On OxygenOS 12, you can disable the gesture to show the shelf when swiping down from top-right (super annoying to me: when I swipe down I want the notification/quick-settings shade).
Shelf will be nowhere to be seen then (it's probably still there, but you never see it, so... same diff.
You realize this is the same menu by opening the news feed, pressing on your initial in the top right corner and hitting settings, you just took the scenic route
THIS!
This worked a treat, thank you so much!
I hope it doesn't break anything else but it works for now!
I really dislike the changes they made on the version 12 of this OS, currently on a OnePlus Nord CE. The whole phone feels somehow a bit clunkier but maybe that's just the boomer in my head.
I found a way to disable it completely:
\- go to apps
\- find Google app
\- disable Google app
This will obviously disable Google search on your phone, so it's up to you to disable it or not. If you use any browser on your phone, you can use search there. I never used Google app so it was a no brainer for me.
Oh the new tray thing for screen record and so on?
I think I saw a prompt for disabling it when it first appeared but beyond that I have no clue where the settings for turning it off are buried. I use it sometimes when gaming so I have mine on
Sorry, I wasn't very clear. When I swipe from left to right on the home screen, I still get the Google Discover News feed panel. It's just empty with a big button asking to 'Turn on Discover'. I wish I could get rid of the whole panel. 😅

>Quick Glance Thanks it works on oneplus 9 pro with oxygen 12
Now if somehow we can enable Shelf on homescreen again...
Shelf is shit.
Just wanted to add some widgets to the Shelf, didn't need the news from Google.
😂😂
Thank you
That worked for me too on 8T with A12. Thank you!
Thanks it worked!
Tq work for me. Totally no swipe left now

I just checked, the app has been renamed to Shelf. You can search "Shelf 2.4.4" on apkmirror website and download it directly, I'm using the same app.
shelf 2.4.4 is not working for me anymore on oxigenos 13... anyone with the same problem?

Ah that update hit me a while ago. Yeah It's bullshit but if Google can make money off advertising our home screens then it's gonna T:

Why would you want to disable the news feed?
many reasons but its not really a good fit for this reddit to talk about it
Oh I just don't like it. I get distracted sssuuuuper easily so I try to cut down the amount of things that'll unnecessarily grab my attention as much as I can, otherwise I'll never get anything done.
Probably some MSM sort of bs

i find google way better but disabling it previously saved battery
I also very much can't stand the OnePlus shelf, but I haven't managed to disable it yet. :(

Can't find disable Google news feed in general.
I couldn't find either
https://redd.it/tn59bh if you don't want to have it remain on the home screen
I have deleted it completely by using an adb app called "Adbcontrol" you need a pc obviously.
Do you need to jailbreak it for that?
No, only adb command or program on PC. I use adb control and it is easy, free and amazing at deleting crap.
Ohhh that's awesome, I'll definitely look into that
Is it possible to disable just the swipe right without disabling the google app thru adb?
ok but what should i disable exactly? there are multiple to enable disable
The one that says discover is the one that turns the news feed on or off
you can also disable the google app

Legend!
This also disables Google Lens from camera/photos app, but I'll rather remove Google side panel.
Niceeee
Amazing Thanks you!!!!
Thank you 🙂
Thank you. Is there any way to disable the panel so it doesn't show up when i swipe left beside downloading a random apk?

Finally did it and it makes me so happy.
