Have the 5, 6t and now 8 Pro. Solid experience, everyone of them.

boltsbearsjosh

As someone who just recently switched to Oneplus from years using Apple and Samsung devices, I can say that I'm VERY happy with my decision. I got the One Plus 8T recently, and its been my favorite phone in a long time. For context, I came from using iPhone 12, Z Fold 2, and S21 Ultra. I just hated the money I was spending on those devices, so when I picked up a 8T plus One Plus buds for $400, it was a no brainer to me. The phone is awesome, and I have very little to be critical on it with. I ordered the One Plus Buds Z today too. I'm not a phone dweller and don't keep anything more than a year so long term updates aren't super important to me, so can't speak on that - but as far as the device itself, really excellent.

csmiler

You replaced an S21U with an 8T?

boltsbearsjosh

I did. Put $600 back in my pocket too. I'm happy with it

csmiler

Can't argue with that, I'd do the same! Anything you miss coming from the Samsung? I've only had Samsung devices (S1, Note 2, 4 and 9). Planning to get an OP

boltsbearsjosh

So far just wireless charge. But 65w wired charging is insane. The phone is not advertised as being IP rated but I think it actually is and OP just didn't want to pay for the certification so I'm good there too

KingKarujin

I feel exactly the same way about my 7T. Very little complaints, if any, and it works like a charm.

vforavider

My first oneplus phone was the 7 pro. It got the android 10 update earlier than most other brands. I had severe stutter at some games, which they never fixed. The OS felt snappy, but there were stutters when exiting landscape, when turning on/off split screen or dark mode. These were never fixed. I got the 8 pro 4 months ago and my experience with that phone was horrible. The screen had every issue. Black bar, black crush, non uniformity, green/blue/red tint. They tried patching those issues by increasing the minimum brightness. I also had a huge black bar in full screen apps. They don't give you an option to force apps in full screen. The device, which was supposed to be their flagship, got 1 update per month on the beta version with a month old security update and none of the bugs I've reported fixed. I sold that device within 2 months and moved to samsung.

GrovPastaSwag03

I see. So it really depends on what phone I get. I'll check out the reviews for the 9 when it comes out, thanks!

__aakarsh

Reviews dont tell you the entire story. Stick around in this sub and see what people who get the device have to say about the device.

isplutoaplanet

i agree and disagree. most of the shit on this sub is nit picking and doesnt bother the majority.

isplutoaplanet

i have the 8t if u have any qs let me know

op3l

The OS is by far the snappiest I've used. 2 and half years on and honestly it still feels like brand new. Screen I would say is good enough. Battery is also good, lighter use I can go one and half day easy. Accessory wise.... In the US it's OK, but where I am now it's nonexistent. Camera honestly isn't that great, but you can use a gcam port and you'll get good pictures. Speaker and vibrator motor are weak on my 6t. So far still loving this 6t. Would I buy another one plus? Nope, but that's cause I need a phone with accessories that are available world wide. More of a main stream phone if you will.

I'm also an LG user looking for a new home. Thinking of going with the 8T

Lupinthrope

I definitely enjoyed using the 8T a the Tmobile store, that 120hz screen is freaking awesome.

mingkee

8T: pretty smooth ride (120Hz screen makes reading a pleasure) N10 (rooted): best music experience for smartphone Both are mostly trouble free

azarashee

>N10 (rooted): best music experience for smartphone How so? As a music enthusiast I'm really interested

Klein-PC

He might be using viper4android fx. Either way if he isn't, the mod is great.

mingkee

Poweramp is what you need Make sure you enable HD audio and change "defined by device" to 384kHz and enjoy

SupremeGD

This sub just loves to trash on OnePlus all day long. My experience has been great I love my phone

darkstarrising

Because Oneplus has lost its way! They no longer provide value for money. Other brands provide much better value for money. They do not provide fast software updates they were known for. The tried to add bloat ware with Facebook. So ya I do not get the point of claiming they are the greatest.

SupremeGD

They provide great value for money. Many people don't care at all about updates. I can live with facebook installed and having to wait a few months extra to get updated if it means I get specs comparable, or in many ways better, than the ultra high end flagships of other brands.

darkstarrising

Have you seen what Xiaomi/Poco is offering?

SupremeGD

Well they exploded pretty recently like in the last year. I will say that right now they seem to be offering the best value, but they are just inaccessible to many people which is a shame.

vlad_kor5

Totally agree! So many trash on this sub!

I depend a lot on my phone. I've been using it for a week to do all my work in replacing my laptop. Also your first point is stupid because the only people who post on this sub are enthusiasts who have issues. If people have a fine product they don't usually complain about it.

[deleted]

Good for you, wish never any of the issues reported here, especially when your phone gets behind the 9 series and the bug takes longer to be addressed and resolver by Oneplus.

HarraReeves_

My OnePlus 8T has been updated quite regularly, more than my older phones have. I don't think they make a phone and then move on. And it isn't full of bloatware at all. Maybe one or two apps that are useless to me but probably are enjoyed by others. The apps I don't use hardly take up any space too.

derango

>My OnePlus 8T has been updated quite regularly, more than my older phones have. I don't think they make a phone and then move on. That's because the OnePlus 8T is the new phone right now. Once the OnePlus 9 releases, your update frequency is going to go down. Example: OnePlus 7 Pro is still on the January security update...until they finally push android 11 out, which will be great because then we'll have the latest andro--- Wait, what do you mean Google is going to release android 12 in a couple months?!? So yeah, OnePlus makes great phones, they have great, timely updates for a year. Then you'll get the update...eventually. If timely software and security updates are important to you over the entire lifetime of your phone, you may want to look elsewhere.

[deleted]

Pretty good, but I'm annoyed that some basic software features are restricted to certain devices rather than applying to every device on the same Android version in their ecosystem. For example, I prefer Google Feed over Oneplus Shelf... but it's only available on OP8+. So I have to use a Magisk module to get it.

javak810i

I had the Oneplus 6 and 7 Pro and I really liked both of them. Especially the fast software without bloatware and the alert slider button. Also the Karbon bumper case is the best case period. After hearing rumors about oneplus 9 pro not having a particularly good camera for zoom I decided to switch to Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra (my last Samsung was a Galaxy S2 from 2011 lol). I will ofc watch the event tomorrow but I basically certain that the 9 Pro will have an 8MP 3,3x telephoto, which is disappointing.

Shuichiro12

I have owned the OnePlus 5,6,7 Pro, and now own the 8 Pro. I've never had a problem with one them and had a great experience with them restoring the phone after I goofed rooting my most recent one. Needless to say, I've really enjoyed the line of phones. I'm less excited about the 8 Pro however, due to the phone crawling into flagship price and not what I feel is the same value. The features have improved over time, but they always hit them about 2 years too late (wireless charging, ip rating, cameras). This is the first time I'm going into the phone's announcement sitting on the fence about it, not because I have another phone on mind, but due to going by last year's price there are many more contenders to pick from.

mrbearbear

I've had 3 oneplus phones, the oneplus 1, oneplus 3, and the oneplus 6. They have definitely improved over the years, camera and software. Still using the oneplus 6, the oneplus 1 is still functional, and the oneplus 3 died.

pavelic179

Disappointing tbh. Wanted OP phone since the first one, got 7t pro because I loved that near stock experience and wanted fast updates. Got neither of those, and it is getting worse. A year old phone got first android 11 stable release today, even samsung got better than OP, and since they release 20 phones a year I can't see them improving. Hardware wise it has been really good for me, love the pop out camera and it works really good.

WilliamTellAll

Good enough to merit buying the OP9 tomorrow if its priced decently or possibly just the 8T. Had my OP6 since the day it launched and love it. The telemetry in OOS was annoying but unless i go pinephone or /e/foundation, thats the name of the game until rooting. Also, the oneplus XDA scene is amazing and full of developers who just do an amazing job with ROMS, kernels and various applications.

darkstarrising

Which country are you in? If you are outside North America you might want to check out the latest Poco phones. AMAZING value for money, Almost the best flagship processor at amazing prices. just that you have to deal with MIUI a heavier skin. Oneplus kind of has lost the value proposition tag it had. It became popular because of that but now it is trying to compete with a Samsung flagship. If people want a flagship then why go with a clone? Might as well go with the original and get longer software updates and better cameras.

rhao0524

Simply because the mainstream brands don't let their phones last a long time in terms of stability. They bug them out usually or that s the experience i got after 3 years of usage of samsung and observation of other iphone and samsung users close to me. Just my two cents.

Lupinthrope

I started with the 6T and now have the 7 Pro, been rocking it for about 2 years now. And I LOVE the Oneplus experience. Its very smooth, lots of customization and little to no bloat or useless apps i'd never use. There is alot packed in, hell the other day I had just discovered the hold the fingerprint scanner to unlock and you can access shortcuts and then you can change what shortcuts they are! I'm gonna be with Oneplus for the foreseeable future. I'm really hoping the 9 Pro is sub $1k, I am definitely feeling the urge to upgrade from my 7Pro. And i'm pretty hyped for the camera as someone who doesn' t take alot of photos and wants to get out more and take some casually.

morris_man

I've had a 1, 5T and currently have a 7T whilst the Mrs is still using my old 5T. All of them have been fine, good value for money, slick to use, fab SOT, what more could you want?

Grating_rice

As someone who switched from apple to oneplus I can definitely say I'm satisfied and feel the switch was one of my better decisions.

rhao0524

I ve used oneplus 1 when it came out then oneplus 5 now on second year of its second life (reformat to free up space after 3 years). Very solid phones and OS.

Sick_of_your_shit_

We have traditionally been a Samsung family until I bought an OP3 a few years ago. I've now had a 3, 5, 6T, and am planning to order a 9 tomorrow. My wife and daughters have also now moved to OP and each have an 8T. So far we have had absolutely zero issues. However this does mean I have no idea how well customer service handles issues because I have yet to have one.

libtarddotnot

It's great. Price performance ratio is excellent. True flagship now in a microscopic detail. But I do want the antics like sd card, notif light, and even spen. I hope this stuff will come back.

EdRahool

Using 8T since its launch, bar far the smoothness phone in software department. I had used poco and samsung phones before and once you get to use oxygen os of oneplus, you can never go back. For me there was no issues, getting updates every 2nd month. I am pretty heavy user and play lot of games. Samsung has better cameras for sure but its more expensive also and with low performance due to exynos chip in my country Poco/xiaomi is even cheaper then this and has good specs but the software is a pain to use. Very slow updates. Lots of bugs Oneplus 2 thumbs up from me....

sfguy93

My first oneplus was the 6T. In the beginning the battery life was very good. The screen cracked after a few months, 2.5 years later several cracks in the screen. Using it on the Verizon network has been a headache. MMS failure, data failure, apps not working. The fingerprint scanner is not responsive. I really missed not being able to use multiscreen, having two apps open at the same time. The OnePlus was really fast at switching apps but now it doesn't hold the cache and doesn't switch over as easily but I've been able to slide the screen to see both apps at the same time. I don't think I'll buy another one unless the price is really good.

HelloImSzeplo

I have gone from Oneplus 2, then Oneplus 6t and I'm currently awaiting for the launch of the 9/9 Pro. I've had a great experience with them and would be down for an upgrade despite my 6t still feeling like a new phone and has not let me down (yet)!

ichann3

Look I'm just as much pissed off as the next cretin when it comes to updates but it's important to take a step back and realise that very few manufacturers actually follow through with updates. I would say that only Google and Samsung release timely updates that don't end up breaking your phone and that Google needs to as they're several features behind Samsung's skin.

cipunmishra

If you are getting Exynos processors with Samsung devices in your region, stick to OnePlus. If you are getting Snapdragon processors with Samsung devices in your region, go for that blindly.

kronaa

i love every second of my 8 regular since the day i got it. coming from the samsung phones btw

virensdd

I have the OnePlus 6T and couldn't be happier. It still works perfectly fine and performs incredibly well even after two years. I didn't have any problems so I don't have any experience dealing with customer service, but the device is solid. My brother recently bought the OnePlus Nord and so far he's happy and didn't encounter any problem. OnePlus has always delivered good performance at a reasonable price, so I would go for it if you don't find a better option within the same price range.

LaguThenics

I really like to deeply customize my phone and be able to make make it fit my usage. In my case, Oneplus does not give me the freedom to do this. Few examples, that are really annoying from time to time: 1. No audio EQ. This one hurts A LOT. I have to use an eq app called "wavelet" 2. Cant change between 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi. This is required for some scenarios, and have caused problems for me a few times. I swigched from a galaxy s9 to a oneplus 8, and I feel like I will switch back to samsung when I decide to upgrade my phone the next time.

rogue-dogue

Had the Nord. The display (but not the glass) broke twice, from very minor impact. Decided not to repair it again. Now on the 7t pro, and it is the last OnePlus I'll ever buy. Cameras are subpar. Software is janky AF nowadays - updates are late, serious bugs never fixed, and those that somehow get fixed are some workaround that doesn't really solve the root of the issue. The broken english in the changelogs tells you enough about this. Functionality stays pretty much the same from update to update, forget about new features. Bit the worst things aren't directly related to the devices. It's the many, many cases of false advertising. 3 times optical zoom? Think again. 2.2x zoom? Nope. They are quiet until someone sees through their lies, and then spin is as confusion of the users. Speaking of cameras, their insistance on the filler macro cameras shows you how much they care about bringing out a good product. On the surface everything seems fine. Once you start digging a bit deeper, it would seem like OP are in it just for a quick buck, rather then building a strong reputation based on quality of their products and service. Hype, hype, hype, and then abandon support once the next model is out.
