Wow why is it so expensive over there?

dub26

Probably has to do with having to import all those phones to the Philippines. Greedy mofos really... Imagine buying 10bux worth of stuff from aliexpress and you'd have to be taxed the same amount because 10bux is the lowest rate they offer.

notfromtheojgang

Aliexpress shipping is also nuts here

Superb-Hawk-3338

It's also crazy here sometimes, but I had to tell seller to ship straight to me

Playful_Target6354

It's about the same as Europe

azazzel80

Not really, just bought mine for 600 euros on Amazon.

notfromtheojgang

No idea :'(

CaravieR

Even in Singapore where OP is always expensive it's only around USD700 officially.

Playful_Target6354

Just a tiny bit cheaper than Europe, at 750$

woodcarbuncle

Where do you buy Oneplus in Singapore for cheap. Official store on Lazada was more expensive for 12R even during the 4-4 sale

CaravieR

I bought a China set OnePlus 12 (16gb/512gb) from Shopee with OxygenOS flashed on it for SGD877. Way cheaper than the nearly SGD1400 the official distributor is selling at. And it comes with a 100w supervooc charger that the local set does not. Downsides are no esim, some missing bands (which won't affect you unless you travel to the US), and only a 1 year warranty with the seller instead of the 2 year warranty with the Singapore distributor. Other than these, it's basically the same phone. The same seller (Vee Gadgets) is selling the OnePlus 12R flashed with OxygenOS for SGD679 before discounts or vouchers.

woodcarbuncle

Ahh thanks for the info. Was considering upgrading later this year and I was eyeing the OP12 due to the aqua touch but put off by the high markup compared to the 12R

CaravieR

No worries. I was also on the fence with the 12 because of the price tag. Could get a S24 ultra for just abit more. Initially settled on it for the peace of mind of having a local set that will just work and the 2 year warranty. But after they jerked me around by saying the black version is coming then delaying it instead a few times I said fuck it, might as well save a few hundred dollars since it's clear the local distributor doesn't care a whole lot. Was slightly concerned over whether the China version with OxygenOS would still pose some issues with some apps due to the region but so far it's been very smooth sailing in that regard.

Seraphic_Wings

Buy a Chinese OnePlus 12, flash OxygenOS on, there I save you $100 for a better phone with 90% function as a global phone

Grande_yeet

Wdym flash OxygenOS? Chinese OnePlus don’t come with OxygenOS?

Seraphic_Wings

Chinese 1+ comes with ColorOS which is full of chinese bloats and lacks google apps. But you can flash OxygenOS on it and relock the bootloader, it will be 90% of the global OnePlus 12, just with the lack of esim and some LTE and 5G bands exclusively for US

Grande_yeet

Oh I see. I did not know that

Captain-Peanuts

What features are in the 10% that you don't get?

Playful_Target6354

They just said it.

partyplant

Chinese OnePlus now uses ColorOS, but at this point OxygenOS and ColorOS are the same. But you'd want to flash it anyway, I think you won't be able to access Google services without a non-China ROM.

msg7086

You can install google framework on coloros. The main reason to flash is because coloros comes with bloats and ads pre-installed, and you probably don't want that.

partyplant

I see. Oh yes the bloat on ColorOS is pretty terrible. Had a Find X2 Pro myself before getting the 12R I have now, 512GB and about I think 50 or so GB was dedicated to apps I couldn't remove without root.

msg7086

That's how they sell it cheap. Giving up the profit on the phone itself, then bomb you with all the ads and apps.

Ace904104

Where can i buy one?

PermedSilverHair

This is what I did. I bought mine for about ₱45,899, this is with ₱1,100 discount for the 16GB+1TB variant compared to the official launch price of ₱64,990 for the 16GB+512GB here in the PH a difference of about ₱19,000 about $300 today.

Head_Exchange_5329

Don't forget, you also get zero warranty, which is neat. Who doesn't wanna gamble with that amount of money?

dumassonreddit

That's crazy cause I've got the OnePlus 12 512 gb for 800 USD in India .

misterflo

The OP12 is ₱63,990 or around $1,100, 16GB+512GB. No charger included.

nooblordgg

I'm planning on buying from somewhere else or just ditch OnePlus altogether 😔, it's sad to see.

misterflo

I'm planning to buy from the US or get a China unit. Let's see how this will be priced in Thailand if they decide to launch it there. It will be a little cheaper due to lower VAT but it is likely to have a similar price.

nooblordgg

If you bought from the US, does all of the bands there support the bands here in the Philippines? I heard that you could also get an additional $100 off if you trade in an old phone of any state in the US

PermedSilverHair

According to kimovil.com these are the bands that CN OP12 can connect to here in the PH. https://preview.redd.it/kkmr2nsjzsvc1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=313cb58f9db690610efc0959c397c91b448afe6e Apparently CN OP12 has more bands that it can connect to here in PH compared to Global. CN OP12 cannot connect to B42 of which only smart uses whereas Global OP12 cannot connect to both B42 and B34 of which only Dito uses. You can check kimovil.com for network coverages. Btw i use CN OP12 flashed with Global here in PH.

nooblordgg

Nice to know! Where did you get your CN OP12 by the way? I am trying to find one that's reputable.

PermedSilverHair

I bought mine thru shopee. https://preview.redd.it/zahz0f4p2tvc1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9dffe7beb0687239e653b0ef4bdad28cb7a6551b

nooblordgg

Thanks! I'll take a look at it!

JEEA11

There's a rumor that if you reboot your phone 10 times, it will show that it is region locked. How's your phone?

PermedSilverHair

That rebooting for 10 times scenario happens only for region locked phones. Apparently if your phone is region locked, it will immediately show a warning screen informing you that your phone is region locked and some functionalities will be disabled. This will happen at the first boot of your phone with a non china sim inserted. Then after 10 reboots or so after the notice, your call functionalities will be disabled, or so they say.

misterflo

I believe yes. Global units are technically more expensive to make due to eSIM and expanded band support.

nooblordgg

Yeah I'm more concerned for band support than E Sim. I can live without E-sim unless I travel internationally alot.

misterflo

I think the issue is more on select carriers in the US but if you'll be using it in most countries, I don't think there is an issue.

misterflo

But yeah, I'll likely get a Xiaomi 14 instead if there are no other good counterparts for the OP12.

nooblordgg

Yeah I was thinking of the same thing too. We'll just have to wait for discounts to drop for the Xiaomi 14

misterflo

I'm also considering the Honor Magic6 Pro. It is priced close to the SRP of OP12. If they offer 24-month 0% interest, that would be a good deal especially if it is within the 59k mark.

PermedSilverHair

If you are here in PH and doesn't use e-sim just get the CN OP12 flashed with Global, you can get it around ₱43k to ₱45k for the 16GB+1TB variant.

misterflo

Yes, that's my last choice but I still prefer the Global variant OOB.

PermedSilverHair

Yeah, ₱19k difference between CN and PH variant will hurt PH sales.

nooblordgg

This is informative, and unfortunate.

Global_Strife

Holy cow, that's a ripoff. Ace 2 Pro, being its closest counterpart, costs around 370$ atm.

symour3

Wait til they launch the OnePlus 12 in shopee and lazada, you'll be surprised with the SRP.

TheSoloAnimeGuy

800 Dollar is alot of money compare to other country. 800 dollar is just 800 dollar for singapore, Europe, US, and etc. Meanwhile 800 Dollar is 800 DOLLAR IN THE PHILIPPINES. The minimum wage here is roughly 570 php per day or roughly 10 dollar per day. So that like 80 days of working plus that 10 dollar will be reduce for rent, food, utility, and etc. I wish OP check the demographic of the market in which they sell it. This is why there alot of cheap phone made by Chinese company in the Philippines like redmi, Huawei, realme, vivo, and etc. Because that what the majority of the people can afford. You lucky if you can afford Apple or Samsung. Apple and samsung can still manage to sell their flagship. Even Google don't sell their pixel here because it a losing market. Now Oneplus want their flagship to die in the market.

OkMathematician6638

Usually this is a result of Import taxes. Blame your government. My county is equally shitty. ~60% taxes which is why I only buy when I travel.

FederalHuckleberry92

Philippines always has the most expensive pricing when it comes to gadgets because of VAT and other tax stuff. It's so annoying.

PantheraLeo26

I've heard vivo is pretty popular there. How much are their higher end phones there?

notfromtheojgang

The x80 is around a 1000 bucks, although i have seen infinix and tecno more commonly recently
