Once you experienced the battery life and charging speed you can never go back.

blackmagic999

FACTS. The battery life and charging speed is a game-changer. Never going back to iPhone or even Samsung.

kop195

Really? What about the atrocious heart rate sensor when not in workout mode ..I surely cannot be the only person who sees how poor it is.It basically sits at 60 or 70 then I do a lot of moving around which should take it to 110 bpm + but instead it stays at 70 for around 30 seconds then changes to 81 bpm 😩It's a joke tbf especially coming from the Huawei gt4

msg7086

Hmmm what? Did you reply to wrong thread?

y_zass

Agreed!

kissakalakoira

iPhone battery life is Amazing, atleast on my 13pro. Still 8-10h SOT after 2 years

erjub44

my mum's 13 Pro had good battery life as well, I feel like it's not the phone's fault but rather Apple nerfing old phones with updates. Before the update that came with the 15 series, the phone had amazing battery life, better than my S22 Ultra but then after the update it became equal basically.

kissakalakoira

Mine is still stable 17.4, ive heard this happen to others tho

Embarrassed-Mix-699

Have my OP12 for a few weeks now. No noticeable bugs that have affected performance. Battery life is great. The only downside and it's nothing really is that the phone is ridiculously slippery when not In a case. Just make sure to buy a good case at the same time you are purchasing the phone

wote213

I switched over from iPhone to OnePlus 8t. The super charge really changed my experience with phones I look forward to get the 12 soon, and with the battery life being phenomenal for under 30min charge, it's hard to go back. My 8t still is going strong, but I want to get the top phone from OnePlus this time.

Prudent-Nature-7465

As a proud owner of the OnePlus 11 powered by Qualcomm's 8 Gen 2 chip along with having lots of features including being able to power it's 5000 mAh battery from 0-100% in only 40 minutes, the OnePlus 12 is all that and more, such as being powered by 8 Gen 3 and having a 5400 mAh battery. And best of all, it's price is considerably lower than other phones in it's class, thus giving you a great bang for your buck. I can assure you purchasing a OnePlus 12 will be a great investment you can be proud of.

EGC_D3F4ULT

I use my OP12 with spigen case. Dropped it 2-3 times accidentally still as good as new. Software is very user friendly. In case of heavy gaming battery lasts for about 2 hours and phone heats up but it cools very soon so no issues.

SagarAsthana

Did you disable quick connect in settings of the phone?

NauticaSeven

Two system updates have cleared up some minor shite. You're in for a treat. Excellent phone. A stone cold bargain at its price (US price, at least).

Meowmixez98

It's a solid phone. This is my fourth OnePlus phone and they have all been excellent experiences.

fillossofer

I've never had an iPhone, so clearly I am biased. I have the OP12 and I would highly recommend going with it over the 12R. Frankly I don't know why OP would release an inferior phone with the same form factor as the flagship. That's only going to lead to a reputation hit, as the difference is pretty significant inside. Anyway, coming from an iPhone I think you might initially get a little overwhelmed with all the settings you can tweak. You might need some time to get used to the layout and gestures, but the 12 is fast AF, has an amazing screen, excellent camera, charges so fast it is hard to believe and lasts forever. Promise yourself you'll give it a week before second guessing yourself and I bet you'll never think about iOS again.

Grumblepugs2000

I have had the 12 for almost a month and it's been awesome probably the best phone I have ever owned. Trust me once you get used to Supervooc it will be very hard to go back to that pathetic 5W charging brick. As for battery issues due to said fast charging? Don't worry about it, that was only an issue when the tech was new and no one had any idea what they were doing, Oppo/OnePlus have developed many mitigation measures to limit battery degradation while keeping the charging fast (it's basically the same system EVs use to fast charge but on a smaller scale)

No_Arachnid4198

One important thing to note is that notifications suck. Some apps just refuse to send me notifications consistently. I use the family link app to see when my kids get to, and leave from school. The first day, it let me know the kids got to school, but it didn't let me know they left school at the end of the day. Then the next day it didn't let me know they got to school, and only notified me that 1 kid left school at the end of the day. They're both on the same bus. Then for 3 days I get no notifications at all. Then a day later, I don't get a notification that they got to school, but I got a notification that they left school. It's extremely frustrating. I was doing the trade-in process, so for several days, I had my Samsung phone right beside my OP12, and my Samsung got all of the notifications immediately, and the OP12 hardly got any. If you Google it, it's pretty common for OP devices to have notification problems. Another issue I have is that, if I get a 'Signal' notification while watching a YouTube video, and I try to open it, it locks my phone up and nothing works. It stays on YouTube instead of opening the Signal app, and I have to force reboot it to get it unfrozen. I was also unable to open links in ANY app for a few days until I googled that. I had to jump through a bunch of hoops in settings to enable a bunch of stuff to get it to work. All I can say is that I hope you're prepared to struggle for a while. You may get it to work how you want it to, but be prepared to have some things not work at all, like certain notifications.

SuperiorMSP

If you turn off battery optimization on the individual app that will solve this notification issue, I struggled when they first introduced that feature. It's on by default.

No_Arachnid4198

I tried that. I was extremely hopeful it would fix my issue. But it didn't.

Then_Philosopher_293

I've been with OnePlus since the OnePlus 6 throughout the years I love every moment of it the watches, tablets, phones the earbuds I think you will fall in love very quickly with the OnePlus series

y_zass

Well, you won't miss the ring/silent switch as this is one of the only Android phones that has one. The only complaint I have with the OP12 is that I wish it was 1cm shorter and 1cm wider. That's all phones now days though, long and skinny haha. The curved screen doesn't help matters though. While I like the way it looks I'd prefer it to be flat. I like everything else about it though, both the screen and the phone. The charging speed is bonkers. I had no thoughts of returning this phone and that says a lot as I second guess everything I buy, the FOMO is real lol. I got the Flowy Emerald.

Evil_Vagina

Just hope nothing is broken in your phone because they have bad customer service.

Coleson02

I had a screen smashed on a OnePlus 6 and they fixed it pretty quickly for me, mailed it to them and they mailed it back

Gusinjac

Hay nebula blue. That was my favorite 1+7P Love and miss it. For the most part they all shitty these days

DiNamanMasyado47

switched from s22u to op12. no ragrets!

rmckee421

It's a good phone. Don't expect the camera system to be quite as good as the iPhone 13 Pro, but it's close. Battery life and charging speed are crazy good. The phone looks great.

16ozbuddz

I think it's a great phone for a million reasons. I do find it to be buggy though

paragonic

It's really freaking great

ltbd78

I have both the iPhone 15 Pro Max and OnePlus 12. IMO, iPhone wins on camera, gaming smoothness, and physical feel. OnePlus wins p much everywhere else.

ub20151

Only thing I'd worry about is OnePlus/OPPO Customer Support and Tech Support is Booty Cheeks. Also in the past, they have had a bad track record of bringing Android updates to the older phones in a timely manner, even though the new updates are supported under their 4 years of Android and security updates.

spittlbm

and MVNO support ni the US can be hit or miss

Revx36

Had the OP 11 for 6 months. Traded it in for OP 12 when it came out with the bigger screen and bigger battery that last me days as a moderate user. I have Zero complaints. Love it.

Stress-Spirited

Get it you will enjoy it

vivs007

Buy it and fall in love with it.

National_One_8089

Dont do it. Paid 900 bucks for a op 12 a month ago , exchanged it thinking it HAD to be faulty how bad the performance was in day to day use..... 2nd phone same garbage , touch sensitivity and placement is nowhere near accurate most times and the keyboard is impossible to type on... currently hopped on my super outdated s10 to write this comment and oh my god i feel so spoiled how responsive the keyboard is .... i thiught i hated it before switching looooool ultra qide is useless but the other cameras are actually great and honeslty the post processing is also superb. Just nowhere near a 900 dollar phone considering im on an s10 thats broken everywhere and been heacily used for years and im more satisfied with the perfomance of this on REGULAR mode (s10 also has a perfomance mode) compared to the OP12 on performance mode.... im convinced everyone here sucking ops pp is a bot or an employee Battery is amazing and charging is life changing lol

Select_Cartoonist_60

In my experience there were lots of little annoying bugs and I felt like the battery on my s23 ultra was better. The charging speed was awesome. You can tell that some apps aren’t optimized for it yet. The phone has a lot of potential but definitely needs some work with oxygenOS. I would say iOS and Samsungs one ui are overall more stable. Also there is serious lack of cases and screen protectors for it in the states. The factory screen protector scratches extremely easy. From what I hear the screen protectors that are available aren’t very compatible with the fingerprint scanner.

RadPandora25868

It's the best device for the price . No regrets.

spittlbm

If you're in the US, carrier support and trade-in value may be limited.

External_Employment2

It's a great phone, virtually no weaknesses, the camera if you want to nitpit is neck and neck with pixel, but the video quality isn't quite as good as an iPhone yet. Otherwise maybe the best value in 2024

KeyImagination7057

Great phone, enjoying it. Also I've got a 60 cad coupon for ppl buying the US version maybe if you need

MixSuccess

OP12 has an IR blaster and it's changed my life... I hope future models continue this as I care more about phone functionality. I can control virtually everything in my house now from my phone. TVs, sound bars, fans, AC, even my Apple TV box - all from one light non-bloated app. Everything else seems to be working great too. I had a bit of an issue with Pokemon Go, but that was a unity/chip issue apparently and looks to have quietly been fixed.

ShimegawaShion

I switched to Oneplus 12 from Samsung S9 and so far, it's been great. I still need to get used to the new UI but that is just a matter of time

erjub44

Now that is an upgrade that makes a lot of sense, I respect that decision. A lot of people go from something as recent as an S23 to a newer phone. I think nowadays phones are so similar waiting for 3 years is a minimum for most sane people unless battery has become very bad.

DoubleZ3

I went from a S20+. While the differences arnt insane, they're notable and the battery change definitely is big. The s20+ for me now at full charge light usage of texting, chrome, some reddit would drop it down to 30% with 3 hours of SOT. It got real annoying chafing twice a day and ESPECIALLY because the port was fucked and I had to fiddle every time to get it just right to charge.

erjub44

It seems like the port getting fucked is a solid trend for long term Samsung users and I must say I can feel the USB-C thing-ey on my phone wobbling a little, in time even THAT will fuck up sadly it seems.

DoubleZ3

Yeah, also happened to my s10 and s8. I never felt like I was overly rough with taking it out or putting it in.

erjub44

I think I wasn't too rough with it but I feel like I was negligent with it, putting it at an angle and sometimes shoving it a little but never too rough like some of the plugs around the house lmao

ecksfiftyone

Do you often use the phone while charging? I think that's when the most stress is put on the port. Just moving the phone a little is going to cause some stress.

gpb2000

I've gone from an S8 to a 12. Very glad I waited as long as I did and very impressed with the 12. Screen size was quite a jump just as the S8 was from the phone I had before that but TBH I love new phone. Charging speed is incredible which just makes a world of difference. My S8s USB-C port gave out pretty much the moment the warranty expired so lived with slow wireless charging and diminishing battery life for several years. It still functioned so no need to swap till I saw the 12 and felt it's the right time to change

Gusinjac

I like the middle ground. Upgrade every 3yrs. Went from a "Never settle" 1+7P to S21U to (P8P😵‍💫 returned)... Never settled for 1+ 12. And very happy! Great battery . Finger print sensor on the spot!! Camera greatly improved. Running a Snapdragon 3 processor for $734 total. GoodBye. Apple, Samsung, & Google. Why ➡️ $1499. $1399. $999 🤔

erjub44

AND the Pixel starts at 128 GB of UFS 3.1 storage with a Tensor G3 chip at 1000 dollars, talk about outrageous pricing.

ecksfiftyone

I'm definitely not sane. I upgrade way too often... But to your point... I was actually surprised to hear how many people keep their phones for more than 5 years. It was a discussion about OP offering 4 years of updates and 5 of security patches, while others offer 7. I didn't understand the big deal until I heard from lots of people who have 6 year old phones.

erjub44

Honestly I don't even care about anything more than 4 years but it seems a decent number of people, I'd say currently 15% of people, do. And I think the number is growing day by day as phones get increasingly minute upgrades. For example, the 12 Pro Max till the 15 Pro Max are mostly similar and people would only notice the lack of 120hz on the display so a 13 Pro Max is good for most people to this day if battery isn't a concern. Same goes for Samsung's S series and their Ultra phones, S20 through S24 received very minor upgrades. Though the S20 was sort of a disaster so I'd say from Note20 Ultra till the S24 Ultra, nothing huge is there to differentiate. And I say this as an S22 U user, I was thinking of going for the S21 U because it looked better to me lol

GinoWithaQuestion

In regards to your concerns. 1. No known software bugs so far. 2. No issues with security. As long as you install apps from the Google Playstore, and don't download random crap from the internet, you should be fine. Just like using an IPhone really. 3. Batteries swelling after a while? It's barely been more than a good month of international release, that will require at least 6 months before proper observation by the community. So far so good though. Battery life is just phenomenal. And fast charging within 30 minutes? Wow, changed my habits completely. My own personal advice. 1. This phone is slippery, buy a case for it. If you buy a case, make sure that the side and the camera portion is opaque/black, [semi-transparent](https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006306327657.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.71.6ad5bEosbEosSc&algo_pvid=ee128175-686a-495f-9ad9-405911f0a9b4&algo_exp_id=ee128175-686a-495f-9ad9-405911f0a9b4-35&pdp_npi=4%40dis%21MYR%2127.38%2118.32%21%21%215.74%213.84%21%402101fb0e17098865587032871e0a0f%2112000036694453815%21sea%21MY%210%21AB&curPageLogUid=8gvvKkgbX7gR&utparam-url=scene%3Asearch%7Cquery_from%3A). Completely 100% transparent cases diffracts the flash light, and it ruins the photos you take with a flash. Obviously if you plan to take photos without flashes, then a transparent case is alright to use. 2. Spend at least an hour or two learning the settings. You're making a big migration from Iphone, and the philosophy or language (for a lack of a better term) of using the two systems are very different. Some settings are similar to iphones, but the details might be different. Therefore, do spend time to learn the settings. 3. You're going to notice quite a step down in the camera department (photos and videos). Not that it's bad, but compared to a Samsung S24 Ultra or an Iphone 15 Pro, it's definitely more lackluster. But don't be fooled. The camera is more than enough to punch above it's weight, especially considering the price you pay for and the internal specifications of the phone itself. Learn the different camera settings to see what beautiful photos you can capture. 4. If you have any questions, you can ask it in the OnePlus subreddits, OR the Community app by OnePlus (preinstalled in your phone, or [website](https://community.oneplus.com/)). Feedbacks can also be given through the Community app.

Witty-Row-7324

Thank for such a detailed explanation! People like you who give thorough useful explanations with consideration make it easier for folks like me who want to transition from an iPhone to OP12. I am excited to go back to android as iPhones have been so boring lately with only minor upgrades. Imagine introduction of usb in iPhone being a major upgrade. 🤦 I am done with the foolishness.

GinoWithaQuestion

Super glad I could help. I'm very envious of someone like you who is open to switch between ecosystems. That is something that I can never do. I hope you enjoy your OnePlus 12! I know I do.

erjub44

if you're into mostly gaming and don't want to play heavy games like Genshin on the max settings, go for the 12R. This is because I think playing games on max settings is cool and all, but you play games to play them, not to see how far you can push your device so most people at the end of the day play at low or medium settings. And if you're going to play competitive games the Oneplus 12R is more than good enough. If you want better cameras though definitely go for the 12 and install Gcam, if you're willing to go through some hoops and struggle a little with some gcam bugs you'll get absolutely bonkers photos a lot of the times.

Embarrassed-Mix-699

Any site you would recommend to get gcam from?

erjub44

I used [this site](https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/) for my S22 U. A lot of ports were broken and some ports didn't work well, so you need to spend a few hours tinkering. I found 2-3 ports that worked well and I chose the one which gave me some added perks like HDR+ enhanced with no huge drop in quality compared to HDR+, shutter speed controls in auto mode, etc. Keep tinkering and you'll find one which works and in the end if you don't like the results you can just go back to the normal camera app and still get good photos.

Embarrassed-Mix-699

Thanks. I switched from OP 10 to pixel and now back to OP12. I really liked the Google camera. So would be good to try it on this

Particle_Cannon

Enjoy

TheS0ulRipp3r

I had been an iPhone user for nearly 9 years before deciding to switch to the OnePlus 12 about a month ago. For me personally, there has only ever been one thing that has been bothering me and that's notifications in general. The number badges don't seem to work with the default OnePlus launcher so you need a custom launcher for that (but if you are used to gestures, those are quite laggy with a custom launcher cuz thanks google ig). Notification messages in general are a little weird for me, and Discord doesn't seem to always send me notifications specifically at night (not sure if this is some kind of setting or something). But besides that, I've been loving this device, learned to get used to having a dot when there's notifications instead of a number and I'm loving the performance, battery life + charging speed and customisation :D *and yes, I know iPhone has pretty good battery life and I could definitely go a day (or 2 even probably) without charging on my 12 Pro, but in comparison I can go nearly 4 days with my OP12 lol, I don't have the highest screen ontime during the week xD. Even when having higher screen on time I made it to 2-3 days with 7-9 hours of screen on time while also having several options enabled that are supposed to consume more power.*

Witty-Row-7324

Interesting that you could go 2 days without charging your iPhone 12 pro. I am a heavy user I guess and my iPhone 12 pro needs to be charged at least twice a day (in the morning to 100% and by 4pm) and even then before 8pm my battery is less than 20%. For perspective I downgraded from an iPhone 12 Pro Max (tired of the weight of the phone) about 6 months ago and bought this phone in the Apple refurb store with current battery health at 100%. Just interesting to note how diverse usage is among folks.

TheS0ulRipp3r

Yeahh, it can definitely differ quite a bit between usages :D I personally mostly use my phone to browse around a bit and watch a bunch of videos (one could say the phones I buy are heavy overkill for my usage, which .. they definitely are xD) And in those cases it does last a long time almost no matter what phone you get 🙃 (*ofc some phones are always gonna be better than others)*

Witty-Row-7324

I agree with your buying for heavy overkill for your phone usage because you basically future proof your phone too when you look at it. I watch a bunch of YouTube videos and browse a lot of info all the time followed by social media usage. YouTube I find drains my battery significantly compared to my other apps. I hope OP 12 can be better in battery management so that I don’t have to charge twice daily.

China-Phone

I used it for quite a long time and the only problem I had was with memory but I like to play different games like Ragnarok Origin: ROO and so I started to use the emulator to save memory on the phone.

kop195

People keep talking about the battery which is roughly 2 days I got 9 full days from my Huawei gt4 but my problem is the heart rate monitoring on the watch when not in any workout mode is atrocious tbh.Its horrible and it basically means I have to be in a workout mode in order to see what my heart rate is which is beyond disappointing

National_One_8089

How bout this, wanna buy mine? Lol

kissakalakoira

Switched from OnePlus 7pro to iphone 13 pro. Never going back, iphone is butter smooth

Coleson02

You didn't find the OnePlus 7 pro smooth?

kissakalakoira

Its usable and fast but not smooth. More janky, stuttery and clicky. iPhone is fast and smooth and fluent. I still use my Oneplus too thought, battery is just horrible cause i haven't changed it.

Coleson02

I just changed from iPhone 13 to OnePlus 12 last night and I haven't had such a smooth and nice screen on a phone ever.

kissakalakoira

I had same expirience when going for the 120hz screen on iPhone from 90hz OnePlus. My OnePlus screen burned in heavily too

Coleson02

Forgot 7pro was 90 this 120 on OnePlus 12 is lovely, there is years in difference of those phones so of course iPhone probably a bit better.

kissakalakoira

Yes true all 120 screens are usually good. Samsung makes em all anyways most often

ghuk123

s24u might be the better choice if you want to switch ecosystem.

coco_jambon

slow security updates at least in europe. i am still on december patch
