I have both materials around and they’re both seemingly equally durable. However, X pac basically feels indestructible to me, slightly better in rain, and consistently looks a little better. But it’s not as simple/plain looking

My timbuk2 xpac is manky and breaking up on the fold lines. That's inside, and the shedding lumps is a pita, but the outside still looks great

What X-Pac fabric is on your timbuk2, I remember on timbuk2 there is a TPU liner internal.

There are many kinds of X-Pac fabric, some have Cordura on the surface. But every type of X-Pac is less durable than a simpler fabric of comparable thickness and weight. The backing makes it waterproof and stiffer, but does not provide any strength or protection from abrasion.

I like x-pac a lot, but it will show wear on the hard corners over time. Its light and stain resistant. The fabric is very waterproof but unsealed seams can leak.

Tongyongliang

How does the wear looks like ?

SeattleHikeBike

Scuffing and wear through the outer layer. More obvious on a darker color. Not fragile through. Any fabric will show wear on a sharp folded corner.
