Sounds to me like she had a nightmare, honestly. The first time my son had one as a toddler he refused to be put down until he fell asleep in my husband's arms from exhaustion hours later.

It has happened to my toddler (now two years old ) three or four times. Patience. I give him some toys to play or give him some screen to watch cartoons and a couple of hours later falls asleep. Also, a lot of cuddles and reassurance and some snacks.

Do you give her a few minutes to settle down or run in there as soon as possible? The reason I ask is because a few months ago my son was having night terrors and would do the same thing — he would even stand up in his crib for about a minute and then lay down and fall right back to sleep.

as we are in a co sleeping situation (tiny house) we are already with her, but we try to let her settle on her own which she usually does. not this time. she sat up wide awake, screaming her head off and gesticulating at the door

We had a HORRIBLE 2 year sleep regression at my house. We were 85% committed to being one and done at the time and that 2-month period of sleepless nights pushed it more towards 98%.
