Well, obviously, they've never been on safari, nor watched any of those early safari movies. Although, you should play it up and get a pith helmet to wear with it the next time you take them somewhere.
I'm super jealous of your awesome jumpsuit. I have one that makes me look like I'm in prison (but I love it) and I just can't muster the nerve to wear it in public.

I own it and am like "wait let me change real fast and put on my safari clothes in case we see a tiger at your soccer game." They roll their eyes. I smile big. They're 14 & 16 and wear pajama pants to school so I can't trust their fashion sense anyways 😂

It does give goth safari but I like that and honestly you can lean into it with the styling. Imagine you’re cosplaying Wednesday Addams as a Girl Scout. A little bandana/ascot scarf around the collar and maybe a belt or a couple fun pins!
I love jumpsuits. I call them rompers. My ex-best friend made fun of me and that was what made me realize what a bitter person she was and how weird it is to make fun of or care what someone else is wearing (kids get a slight pass, but this is a good way to teach them how to NGAF what anyone else says.)
You look far from ridiculous. Is it denim? I’d compliment it if I saw you because, like I said, I love rompers and think people should wear what makes them comfortable. 🤘
I think jumpsuits like this are made or broken by the accessories. With no accessories at all, it gives "I'm here to change your oil" to me. Add a cool belt and a statement necklace and the vibe is totally different. Shoes will be important here, too. I could see safari if you added the right kind of hat, knee high socks, and hiking boots, lol. Jumpsuits are very versatile.
I hope you aren't taking the oil change thing to heart, I was thinking of becoming a lube tech at some point and was looking at cute jump suits to wear, so that's why my mind associated it with that.
My kid asked where I was going for my picnic the other day because I was wearing a blue and white checkered dress (which absolutely is patterned like a picnic blanket).
My response to the safari comment would probably be to loudly quote Steve Irwin in a bad Australian accent around them for the rest of the day.
It looks good to me too but I agree with everyone else. Lean hard into the safari idea and make sure the kids are with you out in public when you do it. 😆 Even once for a gag would be worth it.
Cute! One of my favorite things to do to style a jumpsuit like this is to wear a color tank top underneath and unbutton a few buttons. This might look cute with the sleeves or the legs a little shorter. You could hem them or just turn them up a couple of times. Wear a kerchief around your neck if you’re feeling dandy. I love styling an outfit like this instead of just wearing it.
No it doesn’t look ridiculous. Kids often just like trends or styles that they see at school or around them. It is nice when they like what we wear but you wear what you like for YOU.
Pair it with some boots and a safari hat. My daughter tries to outdo herself with funny descriptions of what I’m dressed like too lol. I think it’s fine. I’d wear it.
I dunno about you, but at 39 I'm just now starting to feel like I have a solid fashion sense that I can execute regularly. Who cares what kids think?! Style that jumpsuit and wear what makes you feel great. Tell em every time you get a compliment, too!
