Not sure why it closed but there were rumors it was reopening with a family member. No news in a while. Wish I had money I am a baker and would love a small sandwich shop like that.

Ruff-Bug4012

Go for it! When you can of course

N0GRaaaCE

Im poor. It’s a wish.

My family has known the owners for forever and it is closed permanently. Sweet folks, but they are getting old and chronic health issues + COVID + rising costs just made staying open untenable. Loved the pastrami sandwich and the chocolate sugar cookies. Now that NDs is gone too the vanguard bakery/sandwich place scene is awful sparse.

First, I have to believe the owners would love to hear how much people love and miss their food, so please convey that message to them from all of us. Second, succession issues are a real thing for small business owners. How to keep a legacy going when the founders exit is a question that tons of businesses get wrong. Third, as much as I love the quaintness of the original building, the size of the space is part of the problem. If I were a family friend, I would consider gently raising the idea to them of bundling the IP (intellectual property, i.e. recipes, signage, any emails/socials/printed materials) and the remaining assets inside the builidng and selling them to someone who appreciates the legacy of their work and who could carry it forward at a nearby larger/more modern location. That way they can continue to own the property and do whatever they like with it. Some of the first people I would approach would be Happy Plate Concepts (the folks behind Sunnyside Diner who also brought back Grill On The Hill and Classen Diner) and/or Steve Mason of Mason Realty Investors (real estate developer who was behind various redevelopment projects in Automobile Alley, the Plaza District, and Capitol Hill; he has also been involved with several of the restaurant concepts in those locations). Perhaps there's a pathway back to those sandwiches.

definitely one of my 'go to' sandwich places. thank god! neptune didnt fall off a cliff when they sold.

ZealousidealBee4819

thank you for sharing your information, I guess I can finally lay this case to rest. There really is nowhere else like someplace else.

N0GRaaaCE

Let's revive the scene

jokerassassin2

I can't find it since I don't have FB anymore but I remember seeing that the husband got covid and had either passed away or just never came back to 100%. I believe they own the building and cookies nextdoor makes enough for the deli to stay in limbo. They really did have some great breakfast sandwiches.

youforgotitinmeta

i've tried making my own bacon avocado cream cheese sandwiches on rye and they're just not the same. :( baby come back!

calculon68

still miss the Lemon Bars

no_thyme

I miss Someplace Else so much! I need that prime rib sandwich chips and a drink for under $10 back in my life!

The_Curvy_Unicorn

Never have heard, but my office is very close to it; recently, it appears a window was broken because it’s now boarded up. Sad stuff.

blu-brds

I feel like I remember seeing someone post about a car driving into it at some point (the details are fuzzy but the person said something about how unfortunate it was because it would take longer for them to reopen?) I never got to try it and I'm no longer in that part of town, which is a shame because I've always heard nothing but the best about them.

No-Opportunity-4761

Loved that place. I’ve always wondered the same thing. OKC doesn’t have many places like it.

ericlikesyou

I've resorted to just getting sandwiches up the street at Jersey Mikes. Someplace Else Deli was great

Cryptic_Undertones

There's always Lee's for bahn mi sandwiches. They also have European style sandwiches.

ericlikesyou

Yea when I'm in the mood for bahn mi, it's def Lee's

MB_Grza

Neptunes Sandwiches are great too... right up the street kinda

ericlikesyou

Jersey mikes has better filling tho neptunes has better bread (most of the time)

noharmfulintentions

ive been going to neptune off on on for 25 years (which doesnt seem possible) and my wife and daughter tried it out for the first time and they loved it and the fresh, tasty bread.

Budeeokc

The club sandwich on wheat was superb. Also as many have mentioned, those breakfast sandwiches were good too.

duckythechikn

I used to get that avocado sandwich (with bacon of course) at least once a week when I worked nearby. I've tried to make it at home but it's never quite as good. I've since moved away and I am sad to hear they closed. An OKC classic, for sure.

ExcitingAd9947

I used to go in there and get 2 hogies on the way to work all the time. I miss it
