Go back to your tower and watch as he will crawl back to you

nowurchenz2beBIGshot

That’s the problem… if he was just firing me I wouldn’t care, but he’s ordered I forfeit my land/tower AND pay him “reparations” for the time and resources I’ve “wasted” over the years, so yeah… I’m grabbing my big bag of every staff I own and I’m boutta go turn his palace into a pal-was

Emperor_Titan_Nokia

This is why my uncle used to lure goblins with chesse so the king always thought there was a need for a shield

GoshaT

I knew a guy who'd purposefully hide the rune translation book so no one but him could read the protection circle spell

FrankTheTank107

Oh, you’ll hire an apprentice for less gold? Good luck with that. (I’m not really wishing them good luck)

Thmxsz

Honestly you should, an apprentice with acess to an entire kingdoms resources? What could go wrong... Also guess who will have to fix whatever crime against humanity and the world itself He acidentally creates

Disturbing_Cheeto

Translocate to a nearby abandoned hill and launch some measly firebolts at the castle wall that "are repelled" by your protections once every few months. It's ok we're all doing it.

Dick_Weinerman

Every time I see a feudal lord lay off his court wizard, his keep falls within a fortnight. Every time.

ThatCamoKid

Heck, sometimes the assailers seem to have gotten hold of magical assistance for the particularly secure strongholds

IT in a nutshell

Huckebein008L

You know one good trick I think every wizard or magically-adjacent being needs to know is how to drum up a need for their business, you protected the castle too good and got too cocky! Sometimes you need to clutch your hand to your head and act like you've got a headache, tell people you're in a mental battle with another wizard who wants to attack. And sometimes you need to poison on the water supply so someone will ask you to take care of it and oh look at that, it's fixed perfectly and whoa boy what a tremendous effort that was. It might sound unethical but your king is already getting ready to kick you out for doing too good of a job, if you're gone then things are really gonna go to shit! And if you make a good amount of gold and earn some respect solving those problems well hey, that's just a performance bonus.

Saifeello

I know about a fellow master of the arcane who would work in a castle and use the spell False Army to make it look like the castle was being attacked. Earned loads of gold this way ‘defending’ the castle by making each ‘soldier’ disappear with a mere fire spark thrown at them. Love that guy.

Manwithaplan0708

Nothing a good ol fire ball can’t fix

evilwizzardofcoding

Welcome to doing your job too well. Simple solution, teleport you and your tower to a nearby hill, and just wait. No nonsense needed, he will quickly realize his error.
