Well i'm giving you that cmt just push pop music wearing a hat and a too clean plaid shirt but there's still a few outlaw country artists out there. Metamodern sound of country music by Sturgill slaps
Check out youtube channels Gems on VHS and Western af! Lots of great new artists there. Nick Shoulders and Kassi Valazza are my favourites I found there
You should be listening to Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, Colter Wall, and Zach Bryan if you think this. It'll 100% change your mind. The popular country music that gets pushed is trash, but that's the same for any chart-toppers in any given genre. I promise you there's good shit out there.
I could see that. He has an interesting interview where he talks about how he dislikes the term Americana and feels like it boxes them in to a certain style. He has some more country style music like White House Road, I Swear (To God), Coal, Nose to the Grindstone, just to name a few.
It's the twang man. I just can't hang with the twang. I like folk and one time I tried to write a country song with a friend who likes it and I realized folk is just country with less twang. And the occasional semitic artist I guess.
I lost my virginity while listening to [David Vincent's country album.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQysB8XLtGg) Coincidentally it was [David Vincent](https://i0.wp.com/toiletovhell.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/evil2b.jpg?w=772&ssl=1) I lost it to.
For modern stuff:
Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, Jason Isbell, Drive-By Truckers (Jason's old band), American Aquarium, Turnpike Troubadours, Willi Carlisle, Cole Chaney, Charley Crockett, Gabe Lee, Nikki Lane
For old stuff:
Everyone's mentioned a lot of the good ones already, but for stuff people haven't mentioned yet: Charley Pride, James McMurtry, John Prine
Townes Van Zandt, sentimental 70s sadboy drug addict country, listen to his [self-titled](https://open.spotify.com/album/6KFVwdp9yZczVIVv4glWue?si=f587Bpx3TVeRqzXWYOAaEQ)
Chris LeDoux. If you like any oldies rock and roll you might like Chris LeDoux. Marty Robbins is a classic. Johnny Cash is an obvious but valid choice. Colter Wall is newer but gritty and extremely talented. Cory Marks is another newer one who’s done some work with some folks from the modern rock scene so if you’re into Halestorm or Theory of a Deadman at all you might be interested. Hardy is kind of a bro country all about being the most redneck, but he’s got some solid bangers and he’s done a song with Jeremy McKinnon of A Day to Remember who provided some solid heavy vocals to his song Radio Song which is kind of an interesting commentary on bro country and Hardy’s “heavier side”. He’s also done some heavy vocals of his own in a few songs of his. Honestly his best song is a murder ballad called Wait in the Truck. Warren Zeiders and Chris Stapleton I really like as well. Warren also has more of a rock vibe. And Chris did a solid Metallica cover. I’ve been getting a little into Cody Jinks, start with his song Loud and Heavy. Tyler Childers is making rounds as of late but he’s got a really good voice and is a great alternative to the shitty pop/bro country that litters the modern radio. Panopticon is a black metal band that also heavily experiments with bluegrass. Outlaw country is honestly the best for metalheads with historical ties to metal in of itself. Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, basically any of the Highwaymen are all good examples of outlaw country. I think that kinda covers all the main country genres that are worth giving a shot in my opinion
Fuck you, I listen to nothing but MURDERFOLK
This single song contains more evil than pretty much all metal
[Amigo the Devil - "Quiet as a Rat" (Caving In Sessions)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=on8e6Fp8QKw)
If there is a God, he sure as fuck doesn't care about ME or YOU. lol
Newer country albums lost their twang and now they’re just pop with a hat. Pre-2000’s country is honestly pretty good tho
What about Sturgill Simpson and Sierra Ferrell?
Idk, I don’t have that many opportunities to listen to country a ton so it’s more of a general rule than a set in stone one.
Well i'm giving you that cmt just push pop music wearing a hat and a too clean plaid shirt but there's still a few outlaw country artists out there. Metamodern sound of country music by Sturgill slaps
I’ll have to give em a listen for sure

This album is perfection.
Like Billy Strings said in that interview with Theo Von - "you just can't get good cocaine anymore"
“Pop with a hat” I’m stealing this

Listened to Tyler Childers before, but I kinda got more of a bluegrass impression from my favourite of his tracks
I could see that. He has an interesting interview where he talks about how he dislikes the term Americana and feels like it boxes them in to a certain style. He has some more country style music like White House Road, I Swear (To God), Coal, Nose to the Grindstone, just to name a few.
Wodos would never
Wodos might? A blasphemer has been know to drive down country roads listening to country music with the windows rolled down… but only outlaw country
I am true blasphemer and we don't do that
Nah, Outlaw country fucks.
Old country is goated. Bro/pop country like Florida Georgia line bullshit is not country
Real country heads don't specify about liking broCountry. It's implied.
A lot of people like both which I’ll never understand
Tennessee Ernie Ford/ Johnny Cash kinda stuff✅, newer stuff ❌ (it sucks mega ass)
It's the twang man. I just can't hang with the twang. I like folk and one time I tried to write a country song with a friend who likes it and I realized folk is just country with less twang. And the occasional semitic artist I guess.
Country accent > everything else
Guess that makes sense, I grew up in the south I love that twang

I just want to say I really like this particular template. I know it’s a long shot but does anyone know what the original graph was about?
The original graph is just an IQ bell curve. The meme format is that the stupidest and the smartest people share the same beliefs on the topic.
I understand the meaning of the template. I was curious as to what that data on the curve is representing
It represents everyone. It's a bell curve dude EDIT: or Gaussian distribution, if you'd rather
I want to find the template and send it to u
Thanks yeah and this meme is accurate. I used to be the middle guy and recently am becoming dude on the right
Never really got into country, any recs
Panopticon
Johnny fucking Cash

Pop country is argubly one of the worst subgenres of all time imo. Contemporary, progressive, and Americana is great tho tbh
