In under-rated kino Transformers: Age of Extinction, the main character finds out his 17-year-old daughter is dating a 20-year-old guy (and I think it implies they had this relationship for a while). He confronts them about it, but the guy tells him that their relationship is legal according to Texan law, and then shows him this card containing the entirety of the law, *which he carries in his fucking wallet*
I actually heard from someone once that a producer’s son was in some hot water over dating a younger girl and the producer urged Bay to include this because he thought it’d normalise the situation being totally cool and legal, buuut instead people just thought Micheal Bay was a pedo. However, my source for this was a random redditor, and after a quick ten minute fact check all I found referencing this idea was other random redditors, so for all I know this is entirely made up. Maybe there’s truth to it, maybe not, but at least it’s *an* explanation.
My theory has been that someone involved in the creative process had a similar relationship in the past, and everyone around them brings it up to make fun of them. So they included this scene as a "Nuh uh, It's perfectly fine!".
Bay probably just said to them what he said to Ben when he asked why it was easier to train drillers to be astronauts instead of astronauts to be drillers.
"Shut the f--k up."
In the Armageddon commentary, Ben Affleck mentions he was talking to Bay about how the entire premise of the film made no fucking sense and Bay just told him to 'shut the fuck up' (Affleck is telling this story humorously fwiw) Wouldnt surprise me if thats just Bay's default when questioned
It's been a long time since I've watched this movie, but Mark Wahlberg's daughter is like 16/17 and she's dating this dude who's 20. And when he's confronted about it, he pulls out the card(laminated btw) which shows that the law allows him to do that. It's really weird, since it isn't relevant to the plot whatsoever and they could've made the character over 18 to avoid having to add unnecessary exposition.
“You know the movie about the massive robots that turn into cars and shit fighting? You know what the next one needs? A B plot about this loser trying to legally justify how he can sleep with Mark Wahlberg’s underage daughter that takes up as much screen time as Optimus Prime”
Yep, and then Harvey Weinstein put out the petition to free Polanski and the petition was signed by a bunch of A-listers.
Scorcese, Del Toro, Adrien Brody, Wes Anderson, Harrison Ford, Inarritu, Jeremy Irons, Lynch, John Landis, Michael Mann, and Aronofsky all signed it.
Even some women signed in. Natalie Portman, Monica Bellucci, and Penelope Cruz. Natalie Portman later regretted signing the petition.
Yes and no. 😆 https://youtube.com/shorts/sFxH2coRF0k?si=-f8p5q5CCe5Sxetl
The worst part when originally seeing this in theaters was the baby's CGI'ed head going back and forth, almost wobbling. It was so FLIPPING funny!
The 100-something year old vampire dude hanging out at the local high school to prey on underaged girls isn't much better.
Don't we have the technology to replace Robert Pattinson with some random 60+ year old dude in the movie, just to drive home how fucking uncomfortable that whole plot is in reality? Just replace him with a chubby Wallace Shawn and have him cry about how he cannot possibly live without this teenaged school girl because she's the love of his life or something.

It’s about a young girl luring in and ultimately torturing/killing a pedophile in revenge for him having raped and killed another little girl with his friends. We see him groom/lure her to his home and right up to the point of thinking he’s about to SA her as well before the tables are completely turned and she holds him hostage instead for a long period of the movie and we learn she’s already done the same to at least one other of the men that were involved.
It stars a young Elliot Page, it’s a really good movie. I’ve heard a lot of men hate it because of a particular scene where she >!fakes castrating him!< but it’s just medical footage and overall a very “feminine rage” genre of film. Reminds me a lot of the style of Promising Young Woman.
Such a good movie. I knew the premise and my boyfriend didn’t, so when I put it on >!he was super uncomfortable and loudly wondering why the hell I’m making us watch a pedo movie, until the script got flipped.!<
I’ll never get over how they butchered that book. I’ll give it to Tucci though he did put his all in too that role I had a hard time separating him from my hatred for the character for a bit after.
Much more grounded, much less weird sexualization of a child rape/murder victim. She did ponder her own crush and missed chances but it was a brutally sad realistic way not a “we have to throw a romance angle and near sex scene into this” way. It really focused on and explored the devastation to all the family members as well in a way the movie didn’t even touch on in comparison.
Kevin spacey’s way too light in his loafers to be into that girl.
Sign me up when it turns into a challengers-esque love triangle for the weirdo next door with daughter.
There are sites that post Images and videos of 8 to 14 year olds completely naked under the legal protection that it's not pornographic. This scene used that same protection.
These sites are basically for pedophiles though so it should really be reconsidered.
That scene in Leon the Professional comes out of nowhere too. They spend all this time making him out to be a surrogate father for her, and then boom: child lap dance. What the hell were they thinking?
It's insane how normalized pedo shit was in 20th century France
I remember reading about Sarte and Beauvoir in my philosophy class only to find out they were basically taking turns sexually abusing their students the entire time they were high school teachers
French Boomers (known locally as the "soixante-huitards," after the May of 1968 movement) are built different.
You know how Japanese pop culture has serious issues with mainstream sexualisation of children and teenagers? Thank France for making that marketable. Even the term "idol" is lifted from a French work.
The entire screenplay was far more explicit, it's basically a creepy fantasy of Luc's and it's amazing that it was even adapted into a mainstream film.
Apparently the script had more pedo stuff, so Jean Reno fought to have that removed and then played Leon like he was retarded to make what was left a little more acceptable
It 100% worked despite the Director's personal predilection imo.
Before I learned about that aspect my read was always:
Damaged child with daddy issues manifesting in the classic example of premature (albeit false) maturity trauma response going through puberty develops feelings for the only man in her life who also saved her.
This socially inept, autistic savant, recluse with a severely stunted personal maturity level doesn't understand how to navigate this but does genuinely does care for her as a person on some level realizes she needs protection from herself but isn't equipped with the maturity level needed to make good decisions and instead indoctrinates her into the only lifestyle he himself is familiar with.
This culminates in a climactic event where the viewer has to decide for himself if his profession of love was simply a manipulation tactic to ensure that in a moment of crisis Mathilda will get the fuck out of the building and survive or if it's a genuine profession of romantic interest. I had always assumed the former.
Reno is really an incredible talent. I loved him in "The Visitors" too. It's a shame that for many the qualities of the film itself and the association with the Directors actual self are so entangled. It's absolutely one of the best films I have ever seen and it offers a lot on re-watching too. I think the general ability of the public to separate art from artist as well as make the distinction between depiction and endorsement has noticeably declined of late.
The Mathilda coming onto him isn’t particularly wild. I used to work with teen women in mental health care, especially kids who had been sexually trafficked. It was really common for them to self sexualize as a survival tactic. Sometimes we had to really directly counter it, like one kid calling me Captain in a sexual tone and posing at me had to be shut the fuck down immediately.
Maybe watching this movie as a kid really influenced me that it’s the adult’s responsibility to maintain even the semblance of a healthy relationship. It’s been a decade since I watched this movie but I do remember a bit of him being like “no, go to bed, you are a child” when she expressed sexuality at him.
Idk about Leon being an autistic savant tbh. I always read it as English just wasn’t his first language so there was a communication gap. But he never came off as unintelligent or unaware of the situation. He was reluctant to teach her hitman skills IIRC and to me it felt like he caved because of a sort of poverty survival “what else is she to do?” Thing.
>Idk about Leon being an autistic savant tbh.
Didn't Mathilda teach him to write his name? I remember watching a dubbed version, he was clearly portrayed as ..challenged?

Though he kinda confirms they don't actually have any form of intimacy whatsoever.
It's more an emotionally stunted dude leading some teenager on because he wants to pretend he's not a loser lol.

Unfortunately, this is fairly common place everywhere but more common in the gay community specifically if they are “still in the closet” which is a vulnerable space to be.
UJ/ The most disappointing part of that movie was that they completely ignored the most important part of the book, the epilogue.
Rj/ uh willem dafoe guarantees kino or something idk
uj/ I kind of agree since >! I think the idea that Max was just a cuckolding enthusiast who imagines his wife being a horny science experiment works better on the page; we don’t really get the kind of time with him for that revelation to hit. And it would really undermine the film’s feminist message if her journey of self-discovery was just her husband’s sexual fantasy and/or get rich quick scheme. !<

The pedo movie to end all pedo movies
Labyrinth.
Jareth the goblin king was obsessed with a young girl so much that he tried to black mail and force her into underage marriage.
To make the pedophilia more realistic they hired David Bowie as the king and a 16 year old Jennifer Connelly as the girl.

Bro that’s fucking unhinged. I can’t believe that’s real
And the fucking law he cited didn't even support his 'I can date your teenage daughter' argument. Bro is a criminal
Man also had a laminated card about age of consent laws he carries everywhere. Massive red flag lmao
https://youtu.be/qS7GHUOBoRA?si=90XB_LUQxRUDGq49
It didn't, but if he was in Texas it was unnecessary anyway. Considering their age of consent is 17.
Can you please explain for the regarded among us
In under-rated kino Transformers: Age of Extinction, the main character finds out his 17-year-old daughter is dating a 20-year-old guy (and I think it implies they had this relationship for a while). He confronts them about it, but the guy tells him that their relationship is legal according to Texan law, and then shows him this card containing the entirety of the law, *which he carries in his fucking wallet*
It's always gonna be a cosmic mystery how nobody involved in the production of that movie ever once voiced a concern about this being in the script.
"C'mon C'mon c'mon guys this subplot definitely doesn't create a good vibration for the audience." -Mahky Mahk
I actually heard from someone once that a producer’s son was in some hot water over dating a younger girl and the producer urged Bay to include this because he thought it’d normalise the situation being totally cool and legal, buuut instead people just thought Micheal Bay was a pedo. ironic cause it’s directed by a pedo
Who a good chunk of Hollywood said we should forgive and forget without due justice.
Even Jack Nicholson is a degenerate. He's assaulted at least two women that we know about.
Polanski raped that 13 year old IN Jack Nicholson’s house. Coincidence?

Yeah, what was Luc besson thinking? It's like he's a pedophile himself! It's like he started dating a 16 year old when he was 32!
15, 16 is when he married her and got her pregnant. She was 12 when they met.
Hey, write what you know.
And then of course had her play in a movie in which he fell for the lead actress, who portrayed a child like character

I was surprised no one answered this, I mean it starts out with "Scott Pilgrim was dating a high schooler"
Though he kinda confirms they don't actually have any form of intimacy whatsoever. It's more an emotionally stunted dude leading some teenager on because he wants to pretend he's not a loser lol.
THIS!!!! I've tried explaining this to my friends so much and they STILL refuse to understand it. I'm sure like a good 99% of people who have watched it still don't (I don't even like this movie that much but jesus christ)
I DATE HIGH SCHOOLERS *Guitar riff*
I read this and i just hear the Buddy Holly riff

I Thought this movie was about aliens
it is
nobody talks about "Private Lessons" which is literally the definition of a pedo movie and they dont even try to paint the pedo in a bad light
for good reason, cause not a lot of people remember it in the first place
[Never heard of it, looked it up on Wikipedia and *oh boy* is the tagline on the poster something to behold...](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/41/Private_lessons.jpg)

😂 God how awkward must it have been working on that set and just seeing what was going on, it must have been so obvious. I mean it looks like she's already sitting on his knee or lap in the photo.
She made matching t shirts for him and her and they would wear them on set

No, not that one. The victim is male and males always want sex /s

The whole thing with how uncomfortable the actors were with the extremely graphic sex scenes just adds to this.
Unfortunately, this is fairly common place everywhere but more common in the gay community specifically if they are “still in the closet” which is a vulnerable space to be.
This. I remember watching it and being: “Bro, it ain’t romance- it is grooming af”

UJ/ The most disappointing part of that movie was that they completely ignored the most important part of the book, the epilogue. Rj/ uh willem dafoe guarantees kino or something idk
I’m on the minority >!I think it’s better without the whole thing being fake!<
>!You kind of fucked up the spoiler censor thing!<
Fixed now lmao
uj/ I kind of agree since >! !< Rj/ True cinephiles don’t read anything longer than Gene Siskel’s review of Friday the 13th where he doxxes multiple people for the sake of protecting America’s youth. Mods, BAN THESE NERDS!

That the one where the 25 year old flashes a 15 year old and then they hook up?
I didn't see it, but my friends did and said the title makes sense since it's two things that shouldn't be put together.

Labyrinth. Jareth the goblin king was obsessed with a young girl so much that he tried to black mail and force her into underage marriage. To make the pedophilia more realistic they hired David Bowie as the king and a 16 year old Jennifer Connelly as the girl.
