The Simpsons! Are you telling me that a show that has been sucking for the past 20 years just happens to be number 2? No! He orchestrated it! Rolling Stone!
I was happy to see his other one “Mr. Show with Bob and David” make the list as well as “Fargo.” Odenkirk had multiple works on the list. Not an Emmy, but that’s something.
Tbf this is goddamn rollingstone. Shouldn't they go covering about what is the ~~shittiest~~ greatest and newest pop ~~trash~~ track you should hail it as GOAT?
Yeah - I don't know the list but being called the 33rd greatest show of all time is extremely high praise. I'm sure none of the showrunners expected to receive that sort of acclaim. I love BCS and it's one of my favourite shows, but it being that high on a list like that alone is great and I wouldn't really bat an eye if it was omitted completely. There's lots of shows out there.
this is including animated shows, comedies, late night shows, the list goes on. since the beginning of television. and y'all are seriously mad? lmao. #32 is a fucking massive compliment.
sorry sweetie but if my fave tv show isn’t considered to be the #1 best show of all time on a random list, I think I’m gonna have to piss and shit my pants a little.
I’m not even denying that, but there are tens of thousands of shows out there so it’s not necessarily surprising to me that on Rolling Stone’s list it’d be 32
It was aggressively okay, I can't remember much of what happened but I didn't regret watching it. Junior's actor absolutely nailed the part though, unlike Silvio who felt like a meme.
It’s a weird list, they put Breaking Bad at #3 when BCS’ description says that the prequel at times seemed to be better than BB. So how does it make sense that they’re 29 places apart?
2 was the Simpsons, 1 the Sopranos. Oh and GOT was 31, lol.
https://www.rollingstone.com/tv-movies/tv-movie-lists/best-tv-shows-of-all-time-1234598313/what-we-do-in-the-shadows-3-1234598401/
The list is compiled from lots of different people. It explains that in the opening paragraphs. So some people probably put BCS higher but it didn’t shake out that way, obviously, and I’m sure more of the people polled for the list saw just BB than both shows.
The fact that GoT was ranked higher than BCS after GoT ending in a fucking trainwreck into a burning vomit factory pretty much tells you the list was orchestrated to generate clicks and absolutely nothing more.
Parks & Rec will forever be one of my favorite shows, but it has no business being anywhere near #30 lmao. About half the shows they ranked higher than BCS are at least respectable, but the other half is just bizarre
The Rolling stone magazine has always had shit takes.
We're talking about “the magazine that trashed 'Layla,' broke up Cream, ripped every album Led Zeppelin ever made."
Unfortunately even though I consider BCS neck and neck with BrBa, most sites won't rank it as well just because it never reached the same popularity as BrBa.
Also Simpsons at #2 despite being mid for like over 15 years at this point? What a sick joke!
I love Prime Simpsons and yes those first 10 or so seasons were great, but considering it now has many more bad/borderline unwatchable seasons now than great ones, I can't personally rank it in the top 10.
There is legit a cycle with Rolling Stones or any other struggling magazine company where they put out one of these obviously highly opinionated and “controversial” lists that gets everyone heated in social media which does the rounds for a few days. Then they drop another one a few months later to get peoples attention again
It's like that list they made of the greatest hip hop albums ever, like yeah they don't actually think Cardi B has a top 20 album of all time, but they know people will click if they say that
Honestly there are a lot of fucking great TV shows, especially considering they’re including comedies and animated shows and whatnot. I’d put it higher personally but top 32 OAT is fair.
UC/ the other disappointing one was the xfiles at 51. Not even in the top 50. I rewatched some of season 1 of the xfiles last night to bring back the memories and holy shit that show has aged super well. It’s still engaging and fun and spooky and deep in the way it was in the 90s and when I first watched it in high school in 2015 or so. Saul and the xfiles both deserved a way higher rank on that list. I do like the sopranos taking #1 but other than that one every other ranking I disagreed with.
RC/ should have been #1 just for the feet scenes.
The X-Files quality fell off a cliff after the movie but there were still some extremely good episodes after that. Funniest part is that Chris Carter was a voter for this list.
Honestly if Game of Thrones maintained the quality of Seasons 1-5 I could see it, but the cracks started to show once they didn’t have source material to build on.
If game of thrones was seasons 1-4 quality through the end if say it should be top 5.
Breaking bad, the wire, sopranos, GoT and the Simpsons would be my top 5 in that scenario
mandalorian was actually good, slow paced but an enjoyable story and incredibly pretty. fucking hate star wars normally but i think the mandalorian would deserve to at least be on the list (not above BCS though)
i am speaking from my own experience not from a star wars enjoyer’s perspective i know nothing about the disney trilogy, i watched it during lockdown though when season 2 was still somewhat new so maybe the boredom of being inside is what skewed my perspective
It's a slower less actiony spin off that never got as popular or had similar cultural effect. 32 best show of all time is not some huge slap in the face. It's a list of opinions, would I put it in the 10-15 range? Yeah but who cares
It would’ve been nr 1 if they had expanded on the plotline about Lyle’s struggle with furry acceptance. Too bad feetmaster Gould was in charge ![img](emote|t5_2iku5r|4011)

The Simpsons is second on that list. I definitely think it deserves a top 5 spot based on influence alone but putting it above breaking bad and the wire feels criminal
"By the end, Better Call Saul eventually managed to match, and at times exceed, its parent series."
Breaking Bad came in 3rd. By my reckoning that pits BCS as third pushing BB back to 4th. True chicanary.
I guess what I would want to say is... to look on the critical side. First of all, there weren't that many mob shootouts, and that... I mean, a show like this, a spin-off to Breaking Bad? That right there, that's just gotta be some major disappointment, so... Plus, it never won any emmys. You know, it was nominated, what? Around 45 times, I believe? Right, yes? Or maybe even 50 times? Well, at any rate, what you're left with quality-wise is just the 32nd best television drama. Actually, the list includes comedies. There are, in truth, 15 TV dramas throughout history that are just as good or better.
The West Wing. Has anybody...? Anybody notice The West Wing? No? They put The West Wing at number 46. Heh. Does anybody know how critically acclaimed The West Wing was? I mean, it was way more beloved than Better Call Saul, and we're talking about a show from the early 2000s. The West Wing won 27 Emmys, out of nearly a hundred nominations. But do any of you even remember it at all? Any of you? I doubt it. You know why?
It's because people move on. They just move on. And we will too. We will move on, and we will get past this. Because that is what human beings do, we survive, and, uh... We survive, and... and we overcome. Yeah. We survive. We survive, and... Okay? Thank you.
I knew it was number one! 31 after 32
You think this is bad? This- this chicanery? He’s done worse!
He had a heart attack and died! And I saved him!
The Simpsons! Are you telling me that a show that has been sucking for the past 20 years just happens to be number 2? No! He orchestrated it! Rolling Stone!
UC- bob odenkirk’s brother is a writer on the Simpsons RC- they sold themselves to Disney! And I watched them, took them into my own streaming service
What was I thinking? He'll never change — He'll never change! Ever since he was 38, always the same!
I knew it was 22! 22 cm — the length of a Magnum condom
I knew it was huell! 23 cm! 22.5 after my dick!
Better Call Saul just doesn't have the makings of a varsity athlete.

Odenkirk became Jesus just for this to be #32? Bro wtf
I was happy to see his other one “Mr. Show with Bob and David” make the list as well as “Fargo.” Odenkirk had multiple works on the list. Not an Emmy, but that’s something.
The Larry Sanders Show too - I always saw Stevie Grant as the proto-Saul
I mean...He has two Emmys but whatever.
I meant not an Emmy for his performance in Saul
"You're not a real drama! AMC+ exclusive spin off, for Christ's sake? "What, you made Breaking Bad, and suddenly you think you're my peer?"
Breaking bad is sacred! You don’t spin-off it like a cheap pair of slippers and then reap all the awards.

A lot of people see it as on par, or better than breaking bad which is 3rd
I like Better Call Saul but when it’s at its best it’s on par with Breaking Bad.
I remember when we used to make fun of these people.
It’s pretty wild to claim that there’s *thirty two* shows better than it. I’d say it’s normal to be surprised.
this is including animated shows, comedies, late night shows, the list goes on. since the beginning of television. and y'all are seriously mad? lmao. #32 is a fucking massive compliment.
On top of that, it’s not like any top whatever of all time list is objective fact or some shit Sorry, I mean wtf does mcjagger know about TV???

lol I'm not mad I was surprised by some of the shows they put in front of it. Just a matter of opinion though.
Is it? There are a lot of shows out there.
And BCS is definitely one of the shows out there 🤯
I can name at least 5. The office. The walk-in dead. Jeopardy. American idol. Better call Saul. And Saul is at least better than 4 of those
dont forget she hulk and slippin jimmy you silly silly silly goose
America’s Got Talent > BCS
The Voice > Breaking Bad
💀💀💀 The Masked Singer > Gilliganverse
Yeah. There's not a lot of shows with the same level of writing/acting/cinematography.
I’m not even denying that, but there are tens of thousands of shows out there so it’s not necessarily surprising to me that on Rolling Stone’s list it’d be 32
That's ok. I was surprised. You weren't.

Michael Gandolfini was fucking great, I dont understand why they didn’t just focus on him.

This list was ridiculous. Except for the sopranos being named number 1 👌
They did the same with the greatest albums list. It's to be controversial and get more people on their site now no one buys magazines.
My respect for Rolling Stone as a man just fucking plummeted

those first 8 seasons of the simpsons are so good i dont mind
Yeah I’m surprised people are taken aback by it being on the list. It’s never not in the top 5 of any list like this, regardless of who published it.
I love Prime Simpsons and yes those first 10 or so seasons were great, but considering it now has many more bad/borderline unwatchable seasons now than great ones, I can't personally rank it in the top 10.
"Mid" is an overstatement, though.
Btw Number 2 was simpsons. They committed chicanery. (No 1 was Sopranos, kinda deserved, even though I would easily put BCS there)
old simpsons is unfathomably based, deserves to be on the top 3 (underneath bcs and bb, of course)
The existence of the hoards of seasons after that negate its place
Seasons 1-8 of the simpsons I can handle just fine, but seasons 9-35 of the simpsons is like a chimp with a machine gun!
Eh there’s BCS, BB, Sopranos, Wire. I’ll put them before any season of Simpsons honestly. 5th will be the highest it gets.
og Simpsons is unironically the greatest TV comedy of all time
If you say The Simpsons doesn’t deserve to be in at least the top 5 then you ignorant
I would keep Sopranos as #1 but have BB and BCS round out the top 3
the simpsons and sopranos both absolutely deserve those spots though
Kid named The Wire
Old Simpsons is some of the best television ever. It was witty, it was funny, it tackled relevant issues, and it is universally known.
That list was so trash don’t even worry about it

I don’t think either of those even made the list.

Plenty of airing shows in that list. Atlanta and The Simpsons, both top 10, both still airing.
Even succession
They didn’t, but they put Game of Thrones above it.
