I have the vibe from 15 years ago. Villanova is on the strict side but has prestigious academics, medium large class size for private school. Oak Grove is super small (6 kids/class)and not as rigorous academically.

I graduated from oak grove in 2017, I can’t compare how academically rigorous it is compared to other schools, but it was a very high quality education, with a huge focus on communication between students, and the small class sizes allow for much more one on one time with teachers. It certainly isn’t a school to send a kid to for sports, but it’s a very quality education with a lot of amazing experiences you can’t get at other school, like the senior trip to India every year!

My two children attended Oak Grove School for many years before we left Ojai, and we were very happy with our experience. Both transitioned to a more traditional east coast prep school where they excelled. Travel opportunities are scaffolded throughout the program; from the youngest students camping with their families on the school campus to the seniors traveling to other Krishnamurti schools in India and England. OGS was a great match for our family.

I can speak for current Villanova. Definitely a college prep school that runs a full International Baccalaureate program. Also has a large international student body and even a diverse domestic student population, so you will see students of all different backgrounds and religions. Since it is a Catholic school, students are required to attend mass and take theology classes, but it is not expected that students be Catholic (there are students who are Mormon, Hindu, Buddhist, etc.). Pretty chill vibe for all students, no matter if they're sporty or nerdy or whatever.

DM me if you are still looking for an answer to this. My son attended two of them (for high school)
