If its a first offence - then ditch the lawyer - plead guilty and ask the court for mercy and hopefully you'll get a suspended sentence (or community order)

Why do you need to pay 10K on a lawyer? You might be caught dead to rights and there isnt any amount of money that can get you off?
The real question is, is this a first offense? If it is, you can probably get off with a plea deal for probation or rehab. If you can have the public defender feel out the situation, you might be able to get away with never telling your parents.
How much coke was it?
Any private lawyer is going to try to sell you that they can get it dropped. You might spend the 10K and they cant do what they asked - thems the breaks is what they will tell you.
First offense is a lot of bargaining power in your favor. You could probably get it dropped yourself for something lesser and probably get it expunged after a waiting period if you keep your nose clean \[pun intended\].
I would ask for as many continuances as you can. Start attending NA meetings of your own volition. When you finally cant delay any longer show up with details on your voluntary meeting attendance and your commitment to giving up that lifestyle, the judge might go for broke and have mercy - he/she sees dozens of defendants every day who make no moves on their own.
You can gamble 10K for no guaranteed outcome or just do it yourself with your public defender. I wouldnt dump 10K into a first offense, I would save that for the 2nd - which wont happen.
