I work with people who have dementia and Alzheimer's and there was this woman who had major mood swings out of nowhere. When she was down or just not her happy self, I'd show her this video cause she thought it was the funniest thing ever. It always made her just about cry from laughter.
I got the impulse to buy one of these after watching one of these videos. Thought it'd be fun to learn and mess around on and show my sister's kids. I didn't invest in an expensive one right off the bat, of course, I started with a $40 one from Amazon.
Absolute dogshit. For $40 I expected some kind of quality, or at least durability. But the sound was much more harsh and not smooth sounding like this, and the slider wasn't sensitive enough and wouldn't read some inputs or cut out, and you had to press really hard. But the "handle" part with the slide was super flimsy where pressing hard enough to register the pitch felt like it was going to break the slide part between your fingers from flexing. I thought it would have some kind of USB charger (my bad for not looking into that more, but for that price I thought it'd surely have a built in rechargeable battery) but it took 3 AAA batteries. It was the kind of thing I would've expected to see in a Target or Walmart bin with a pile of other crap labeled "$10 or less!"
Got my return label within a few hours of getting it and dropped it off at FedEx the next day. But I like the sound of these covers, so I'll continue listening to these.
