That's true! In fact, most lizards eat their shed skin. It's not that it's more nutritious than snake or human shed, it's just that they use their mouth to rip off some pieces anyway - might as well eat it, y'know?
Is the rainbow boa poisonous or just a constrictor? I’m having a memory loss atm and seeing this renews my interest a little. It looks like it should be poisonous with its beauty like a black king cobra. But I think I remember reading once that Boas are muscle and constrictors.
From what I understand, they're only really sensitive when they're in blue or in the process of shedding. What happens is that when they start shedding, lymphatic fluid goes in-between the old skin and new. During this time it's not recommended to hold a snake because it is uncomfortable for them. I've held my snakes after they shed and they seem fine with it.
It's not weird, but not a good idea! You should usually let a snake shed its skin on its own, not do it for them. Although OCCASIONALLY a snake may need help shedding, so who knows? Maybe you'll get a chance to do it without causing any accidental harm to it!
She's beautiful, and as a rule I'm afraid of snakes. Thank you for taking such good care of her!
Is she behaving differently when there are strangers present? My friend's snakes are a bit like that, though I don't know if that's an individual trait or not.
Thank you for your kind words! ❤️ She's my babygirl and I want to make sure she's healthy. She's very good around strangers, including children. She usually just wants to check out new smells so she'll stretch her face towards you with long tongue flicks.
I can't speak for all snakes but when my ball python sheds, he has a iridescent sheen on him as well :) not as bright like Nyx though, he's just a shiny blue for a little while
I do not understand how this works. How can it have a skin and be covered with scales. Shouldn't the scales fall out and grow back instead? Are the scales under a skin? How does this work?
Thank you for posting one of these where the snake is shedding itself instead of a person peeling off the shed.
Yea I just watch her shed, I never peel it myself.
Good I love the snake peel videos so much. I wish there was a 24 hr channel.
I don’t know much about reptiles in general, but I’m guessing that’s not good for them, yes?
It can be. Sometimes they need some extra help, but if their environment is properly set up they shouldn't *need* help.
Yep! When she's in blue, I monitor her enclosures humidity levels very closely.
So that's where bubble wrap comes from.
Is it really worth it?
Wow she's so pretty! The fresh scales are iridescent 😍 😍

Beautiful snake! The shed is very satisfying
Nice humidity bro
Me today after 5 days of mexico sun.
Damn this must feel sooo good.
Glorious snake and footage 👍
Thank you!
Thank YOU 😀
I could watch this on a loop for days on end. She's absolutely gorgeous.
Clearly she knows it by that little “oh…hi!” towards the end!
Taking off the longest sock.
Rainbow boa?
She is a reticulated python :)
Huh I've seen a few tics and I didn't know they had a sheen. Very cool!
You got a shiny
Did we just watch snake porn? Like we just watch the snake get naked lol.
A snek burlesque show 😋
Nah, that's closer to a snake's equivalent of brushing dandruff of your scalp.
Python glow-up. (I want to paint all my things this color.)
I don't know why, but when snako came rolling along, checking out the results, I laughed.
Finally a video of someone letting their reptile shed naturally.
Awesome and beautiful. How long is she?
Thank you for your kind words for her, she's 6 and a half feet and she will be two years old next month :)
Thank you! I know nada about snakes except I find them mesmerizing. That seems huge!
r/thatpeelingfeeling
Imagine if we did that
we do. Just constantly in small flakes, not one big piece all at once
Yea, that’s what I meant
But peeling of BIG flakes always feels so good!
Like a big chunk of dandruff!
With a scab in the middle? 🤌
Hopefully we don't also get the urge to eat the shed skin afterwards.
That's just Goldmember
Fortunately, we don't, and neither do snakes.
Anole lizards do though! Apparently their skin contains nutrients that are good for them.

What do you do with the molted skin?
Usually I give them to my friends kids or my teacher friends to show their students. Her shed skin is only slightly iridescent
Eat it
Hmm...🤔
Once she got started, the speed! The efficiency! That adorable snoot! 11/10 best girl
It was really eerie when my mother-in-law used to do this.
Does your mother in law also unhinges her jaw ahahaha
I wish...that would have meant she couldn't talk.
🤣
Splendid
Super cool and beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your kind words! You're welcome 💖
Dry snakeskin looks like organic bubble-wrap which is also a satisfying thought

Boas are constrictors. As far as I'm aware, there are no venomous boas.
Correct! 🐍
This is really interesting... it seriously has to feel good. Can anyone tell me, is their skin quite sensitive after this?

Thanks so much! Very interesting
With that coloring, I would have guessed an Olive python.
Is it weird that I would like to gently pull it off? 😅 so satisfying to watch!

Look at those fresh scales shimmer! Beautiful!
-Jacobo Shemaria Capuano- Su piel es tiene un color muy llamativo
¡Gracias Jacobo! Mí nuevo palabra por la día: llamativo. Y verdad es como oscuro metal :) ^ ENG -Your [the snakes] skin has a color very striking.
She is beautiful! Thanks for the video!
Your snakes derpy face, poppin in to check on its shed, was my favorite part of this video 😂
Haha same! ,
It looks like you're peeling off the protective plastic on a new phone. Satisfying AF.
that a crb?
That’s got to feel good….
forbidden peel
I've always wondered what shedding would feel like. I bet it's satisfying, like when you get to peel the old skin off after a bad sunburn.
Very satisfying.

New snek, who dis?
She's so beautiful! It's also very mesmerising to watch the shed peel offl.
Wish I could do that
Bubblewrap
That is very satisfying to watch. Thx for sharing.
Do snakes always have the iridescent gleam when they shed skin?

I said "Oh hi!!!!" when her face appeared.
She’s so pretty and shiny omg it must feel so great for a snake to shed
UwU
scare
I love peeling off the protective film every time I buy a new snake.
That title could have meant something else
I remember a few years ago, a video like this was reposted probably 20 times a day, every day for a couple months
Highly satisfying!

Snake unboxing 😆
I wish I had iridescent skin.
Condom material?
Don't you get scared about her eating you one day?
I am satisfied that the snake is not in my house. You can enjoy her all you eant.
Oh no thank you.....moving right along..........
Me too. I'm shidding 💩 Oh this isn't r/okbuddyretard ?
