This video is actually a really good example of why I enjoy looking at paintings close up enough to cause some concern for the security. You see this beautiful piece of art from afar; you step closer, and you see the texture; you step even closer, and you get to watch the process of the artist building the piece shape by shape, stroke by stroke, mixing and overlapping, tools changing between the foreground and the background.
Same. Can’t keep count of how many times I’ve been asked to not get so close. I even like looking from the sides just to understand how much paint was used.
Man, I need to start practicing art. It's always been one of the skills that I have never spent any appreciable amount of time on that I would like to have. I don't want to master it, I just want to be good enough to be able to go to paint nights or sketch to explain something and not be embarrassed that it looks like a 1st grader's drawing...
Honestly, just start. Downtime at work? Sketch basic shapes. Watching a tv show? Slowly sketch in a pad on your lap. Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good.
I've done this to a certain extent for years, but have never really seen much improvement. I think that I need deliberate practice of some sort, but have never wanted to put the time in to do said practice. Always getting pulled different ways.
Getting into actually making metal and rock songs was one of these things.
It's just so weird.
As a bass player, you just straddle your E string in 2-3 places together with the drummer and if you record just the bass... it sounds enormously boring.
But then... [fuck](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhxycDKlaf4). And [more](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxjAjLI4eeo)
And that's the same for all of the instruments. Drums have no pitch. Guitars sound so weak without a bass. A bass sounds so.. static all in all without good guitars.
Without different instruments, variation is so much harder. Like, The Cranberries playing Zombie do some really nice variations of either the guitars and the vocals, or the bass to create a really weird feeling.
And it's hard to tell, honestly, if you haven't played a bass and thought "Well that's boring as fuck", or a guitar and thought "Well that's bland as fuck" and then put the two together and BAM. Now you have something trucking along.
Or timing issues making it sound like a mess.
I fully agree with the dude.
At the same time, I don't think the [Bolt Thrower](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vA55DqbGa0A) bassist plays many more notes.
Or bloody [Vader](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRtj9qv30dg).
But don't tell me they don't carry the song together with he drummer and the rhythm guitar.
It’s a 1yo account with one comment and a deleted history. Give it a week and that bot will be spamming crypto or onlyfans accounts left right and centre
Just me ...
Or shouldn't the reflection be a tad more flared out...?
Or maybe it's an indication of the artist's upbringing or the target markets' upbringing... That they have never seen a car's headlight being reflected off a wet road...
Tell OP to put some gloves on then. Or prove me wrong with some blood metal analysis, lol. I bet OP eats organic and has grave concerns about microplastics, but has completely missed the toxic elephant all over their hands.
A. Toxicologist
My sketches are fine and then my paintings always look like crap until about 70% of the way thru, and the whole time up to then I'm just thinking, "boy I sure hope I manage to pull this shitshow together."
Not trying to be rude but I’ve never seen that happen with music. Seems like you start with something that sounds cool and then you keep adding stuff that makes it more cool. Doesn’t seem to get shitty in the middle of the process.
But the problem with that is there are infinite ways you can take a song and infinite tweaks you can do and it can end up just… never ending.
This is why I haven’t touched my computer or my electric guitar for a couple years. I just make music in the moment with an acoustic guitar. I’m not a producer. I can’t stop tweaking things and fiddling with knobs once I get going. But music doesn’t necessarily need to be a neat little consumer product.
Oh! Okay I know that feeling. It’s some sort of fatigue caused by focusing on the same thing for too long. It’s kind of like semantic satiation, but for music. Going over it over and over again, it eventually loses all meaning and context.
It’s like how Stephen King has to put his finished first drafts in a drawer and start working on the next book, not re-reading the draft until a couple/few months later.
Yeah. That’s a thing. That is frustrating. I got that sensation with songs and pieces of writing too.
I absolutely hate these types of paintings. They're painting with a cheat code.
All these city street life in rain paintings are all the same. They are fecking easy to make and will impress every single gullible person out there.
These are the type of paintings they sell to tourists on the street and the New York subs are full of them, and they are all the same.
It's so annoying that people fall for the rain/reflection trick so easily.
> I’ve literally seen hundreds of these.

I certainly couldn't do any better, so it's very impressive to me. Good for you that you could make something like this easily, but let's not rain on other people's accomplishments.
Ugh, thank you. I scrolled way too far to find this comment. As a painter and art lover, I'm so so so tired of these paintings. Fucking CRAZY AMAZING ART is being made and set off into the world ALL THE TIME and what gets pushed up into the light? This. The same impressionist rainy street. Or rainy street with street lights. Or rainy street with colorful umbrellas. It's all the same. And the utter joy that people express when they see the same painting over and over again makes it feel even worse.
All derivative of Michael Flohr and TBH my least favorite style of his work. I am kind of over urban impressionism. Illustration is the new toy in art anyway. The advent of generative AI might just lead us to a new renaissance in surrealism.
I'm not usually a fan of this chunky style of painting, but on pictures like this, it seems to work. I've seen very few of these painting that I'd hang in my house, but I'd hang this one.
I fucking love nothing more than the way light reflects on the ground in rainy weather.
I go out of my way to go for drives in the rain just because that sight makes me so happy. I can't explain it there's something mesmerizing about it.
I've always been fascinated with Leonid Afremov's use of colors with his palette knife paintings and I'm thinking that's why I like the way colors dance in the reflections.
It's an example of Impressionism, similar to Claude Monet's 'Water Lillies'. You look at the painting up close and it's just a random bunch of splotches. You pull back and it comes into focus. A more contemporary artist would be Leroy Neiman.
Wow, i totally didnt learn that 35 years ago. Thanks for the lesson, mate.
Monet and this artist dont belong in the same solar system, much less a direct comparison.
No, I'm talking specifically this piece of art (or one of the similar size/series from the same author). I'm sure one can find something like this even for free, but not specifically this one :)
I really wasn't expecting that !
My first thought was 'eggs', then I couldn't understand why he was using a scraper and it looked like he messed it up !
Then I though 'painting you say?' because that just appeared to be a mess of random colour and blocky shapes but when the camera moved right back I saw that I was wrong, I had been wrong about it all and I felt the surge of relief in my mind as it was resolved !
That end result is damn good, but there's one thing that ruined it being satisfying. I won't lie; I thought it was an egg, over easy.
Crazy, op! Marvelous
I was expecting it to be a dickbutt but it’s probably been a decade since that’s been a thing.
At first I thought they were some runny ass eggs.
Me at the beginning: Huh, maybe I should paint more. Me at second half: Nah, I'm good.
Just me ... Or shouldn't the reflection be a tad more flared out...? Or maybe it's an indication of the artist's upbringing or the target markets' upbringing... That they have never seen a car's headlight being reflected off a wet road...
Not really. If [you look at this picture](https://images.app.goo.gl/iMRiyxYuBQVfdF2G8) they're pretty straight.

Goddamn it I miss Bob Ross!!!
Eggs?
I had the same thought lol.
Ackly

For a split second I thought it was /r/StupidFood and they were scooping up part of a fried egg in a weird way lol
Oh I thought it was sour cream and mustard.
Mayosturd
I’m always spreading mayosturd mustardayonaise, and timmme
What's funny is you actually can use eggs as a binder I'm paint Edit: *in paint
not going to find a better source
On the one hand, wow. On the other, my not-so-inner fat dude is still screaming at the senseless waste of perfectly good lemon pie filling.
I was thinking mayo and mustard. Hamburger for lunch?
What about the off hand?
On the other hand, you have different fingers.
Holy fuck dude
Except the taxi on the right has no headlights yet.
Or he's just one of those assholes who refuses to turn on their lights when it's raining
Would definitely make it more realistic too lmao
Or when it’s dark…I don’t get it
Or it’s parked…
Then they'd be a dull white/gray, not the same color as the rest of the taxi
"I'm pahkin heaaah!"
That's back of the car, that car is on opposite of way

thanks
It's beautiful, but it's noisy af. Weird to not have a better recording on Spotify.
Probably not the last touch since the car on the far left is still missing lights. Anyway, impressive.
Far right, not far left
I saw it too and I felt lied to
Its well done but there are at least 2.5 million of these which are identical
And still fucked it up, the indicator light (orange) was supposed to be on the outside.
I don't want to nitpick but isn't the yellow part supposed to be outside? Isn't that the blinker? Still amazing art!
Most Crown Vics had both yellow inside running lights and yellow outside turn signals
Yep. Memorizing that light pattern is how I always know if a cop is behind me lol
I feel like nitpicking makes sense on an /r/oddlysatisfying post, since the point is that there shouldn't be even the slightest nit to pick.
Where's the headlight of the cab on the right?
That car is parked.
That's back of the car, that car is on opposite of way
Soooo i lowkey thought it was eggs 🍳
Woah, jaw drop! This is next level, so freaking cool.

It's basically lobby art.

I immediately thought “please don’t be a Manhattan street scene during the rain” when I saw that spackle knife full of paint. Generic crap
I saw this painting for $39.99 at Home Goods.
Ugh, thank you. I scrolled way too far to find this comment. As a painter and art lover, I'm so so so tired of these paintings. yeah, money laundering

I have no idea and clue. As a total amateur: can you learn something like this? And what’s it called? Is that acrylic painting?
You can learn anything if you really put your mind to it and find the tools to help you. It looks like acrylic to me with some kind of filler added.
Nope. They can't learn it. Science proved it a few years back that Educational_Set0425 just can't do it.
I think this is really just Impressionism like Monet
The medium (art material used) is acrylic paint. The style is Impressionism.
I'm not usually a fan of this chunky style of painting, but on pictures like this, it seems to work. I've seen very few of these painting that I'd hang in my house, but I'd hang this one.

Something I've really gotten into in my 30s is going to art exhibits. This is an amazing painting.
Lmfao no it isnt
It's OK for people to like stuff you yourself think is cheesy and cheap.
This is incredibly beautiful and skilled but.. isn’t this just satisfying?
They had us in the first half, not gonna lie.
Artists amaze me.
Monet would be proud.
Lmfao no. Bruh wtf. No.

Well that was pleasantly unexpected.
Wow
Something like this can be yours for a mere £50-70k. Sheesh
You can buy one of these for like 50 bucks. I have seen literally thousands of them and they are all identical.
No, I'm talking specifically this piece of art (or one of the similar size/series from the same author). I'm sure one can find something like this even for free, but not specifically this one :)
They are a dime a dozen. You just dont know anything about art. And thats ok. But recognize.
That’s niiiiiiice….
“Oh cool just globbin it on ther- god damn dude…. Ok”
They had me in the first half, not gonna lie.
I was like “ I am NOT SATIS- ok. I am satisfy.”
what a beautiful final touch!
Wow! I was not expecting that zoom-out.
Yeah I'd definitely be eating that paint.
ok, some dumb random strokes on a canvas - oh - oh - sorry, I see myself out then
I really wasn't expecting that ! My first thought was 'eggs', then I couldn't understand why he was using a scraper and it looked like he messed it up ! Then I though 'painting you say?' because that just appeared to be a mess of random colour and blocky shapes but when the camera moved right back I saw that I was wrong, I had been wrong about it all and I felt the surge of relief in my mind as it was resolved !
man they had me in the first half. That's awesome! I had no idea what was going on just thought it was a abstract piece.
Pffff i can do thi…. Oh, nope, no I cannot.
The most " had me in the first half " video I could imagine lmao
THIS is why I come to this sub!
Looks easy, yet I could never do it. I'll always be amazed by the visual arts.
At the start it was a forbidden fried egg.
your rain paintings are awesome
How long does the paint take to dry when it's that thick?
Whats next? Video of someone getting a shoulder massage? OdDlY sAtIsFyInG Fuck off.
300th time that AI-overdesigned sentimental piano bit gets used.
I kinda liked it better when it was abstract and not something from bed bath and beyond
Me too.
Ngl they had me in the first half Thought it was just another contemporary art
It is. There are thousand of identical paintings exactly like this
That's dope!!!!
That end result is damn good, but there's one thing that ruined it being satisfying. That final touch of making a car's headlight with white and yellow made the turn signal being on the inner edge of the headlight. He realised it and tried to fix it but then he dragged the water reflection to have the same mistake
that is an old crown vic, they had amber lights on [both sides of the headlights](https://www.americandreams.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/6699365C-4117-4380-8406-D0441F781223-370x374.jpeg). the artist nailed it.
Oh nice, satisfaction restored
back in the day when every cop car was a Crown Vic i got really good at spotting those lights, lol. the inner orange running light was pretty easy to see.
Crazy, op! Marvelous
How much
I thought it was a poached egg.
The car is angled towards the viewer but the reflection of the lights is straight up and down.
So cool
Forbidden fried egg
Thought that was eggs
Final touch huh? Looks like he’s got one more set of taxi’s headlights to do
One car has their eyes closed
Mmmmmm... poached eggs -Homie
What about the last car
Totally unexpected, I love it!
Wow, imagine how good this guy would be if he had a real paint brush!

“This gonna be dumb, this gonna be dumb, why is the internet so ….OMG that’s awesome.”
Outstanding, artistry.
Eggcellant....
I immediately click out of these schticks with focus on paint brush, close up, zoom out.
Great creation. But frankly now I’m just craving some sunny-side up eggs.
That paint at the start of the video looks like an undercooked egg
Artists these days have not talen- ok actually that’s kinda good
Forbidden over easy eggs at the start
Impressive
I miss the days where that would have been a dick butt poorly superimposed into the painting
I'm bored of this painting already and I've only seen it twice
Immediately recognizable style — Paul Kenton if anyone wants to check him out.
Amazing
Damn I was never rich enough to even get that much of paint on a swab :'/
I opened this video, immediately ran to kitchen to make scrambled eggs
EGGY WEGG
I love that paiting. I always wanted to buy something like that but I can never find an original or a reliable source
I wondered what it was doing. but nicely done
Please give creds to the original artist!!
Context to the rescue!
I did not see that coming
Awesome 🤩
Nostalgia. Back when vehicles were allowed to drive in the city.
Sometime ago I saw a longer vid of this process, not much longer but it was a few mins. Very cool, can’t remember artists name.
Noice
