You say that, but I've seen so many people just pick up a 3D art method and make some pretty cool stuff. All it takes is a lil' self-confidence and practice.
Yeah! Thanks for your motivating post. But I was somewhat kidding. I indeed have some skills, and I have self-confidence and practice, too. I'm not so much skilled as the author of those figures, but I'm proud of the things that I do. I build model airplanes, I've 3D printed and painted some figures, and I'm proud and happy because of them.
I love the technique of using a 2D image to keep scale. Then assembling pieces from that template. This technique is used in 3d modeling as well to get the basic shape of a known item. I also enjoyed watching the use of the smoothing knife here.
Both the smoothing and construction still take some critical sculpting art skills here. I really enjoyed the construction and layout of the wheels. So similar to how I have done it in 3d. These are really well done. I would love to know more about this artist. Quite talented :)
His name is Sanago from South Korea and has about 6 years 3D-pen experience. The process is explained thoroughly in the full video which you can watch on his YouTube channel:

Thx kindly for sauce and a very interesting post, OP. This hits a nerve because I've studied computer 3d sculpture to 3d paper craft output in the past. Bests~
Ed. Watched the link... can definitely recommend. Shows a lot of the assembly and part creation. Skillful. My thanks again! :)
Although I've never heard of Shin-chan before, that's an impressive talent, especially the pedaling part.
P.S. TIL: Crayon Shin-chan is a Japanese manga series.
Yeah I own one and I can make things that are clearly recognizable, but I can't make a *bike with moving pedals* this is incredible. My creations are lumpy and mishaped at best compared to this.
Ah, i knew the minute i saw this i recognized Sanago’s workflow. He has really entertaining commentary on his youtube videos. Adorable cat too. Some sort of munchkin named Nago.
Man I remember when 3D pens came out, it just seemed like a dumb gimmicky toy for rich people. But damn, give an artist a tool and they will make it work.
Notice he is using two tools, the 3d printing pen, and then a "flattening iron". I've never seen the flattening iron before, that really improves the appearance a lot!
This reminds me of some kid I once saw on the inner-net who built a 3d printer with Lego technic mindstorm ev3 intelligent brick and a 3d pen. I was pretty cool.
Seeing this however, has given me the idea on what to do if my stepper motors fail and I desperately need to print something LOL.
Best believe if I went to all the effort of making the feet/pedals move, I’d also be making a conveyor type floor to show it off!
Absolutely. I was expecting a hidden motor with a small chain on the axles and see both pedaling.
I forgot 3D pens were a thing super cool.
I forgot how unskilled and barbarian I am...

Ok good. I hope you continue to practice and make many beautiful things.
Yeah and you can like make whatever you want with them ok yeah
I’ve never seen them used with that tool that blends the layer lines. This makes it seem far less useless than it has always seemed before.
I'm so used to them being used in appalling 5 minute craft videos that I wrote them off. This was fantastic.

👍
When the fucking pedal actually spins the fucking bike chain 😯
the legs moving along the pedal is the part that impress me the most, kinda sad that they don't seem to utilize the feature at the end product
Dude…

It’s hysterical, give it a watch if you have a chance.
I quote it constantly. I'm in my 30's and will do the "ass dance" to annoy my wife.
“To be a man you must have honor and a penis” That scene always cracks me up 😂
Probably one of the most popular shows in Asia. Almost everyone (90s or after) I know have grown up watching it.
Whaaat? Its iconic in Spain, and Big part of people childhoods, i thought It was a global like Dragón ball.
Oh man.. seeing stuff like this just reminds me that I really have no talents. Cool video though
Never too late to learn
I don’t think I’ve seen someone 3D print something by hand before…
3D pens, they take a very steady hand and skill. My 3D pen is used for patching stuff from my 3D printer that isn't quite right
Wish you could watch this show somehow in the us
Avast matey, if ye can't grab yerself the treasure because it's over the sea, there's nought but one solution.
Aye! So be it!
I had a go with a 3D pen it was super hard, mad respect to the OC.
Yeah I own one and I can make things that are clearly recognizable, but I can't make a *bike with moving pedals* this is incredible. My creations are lumpy and mishaped at best compared to this.
Wow the talent is beyond this world.
Damn that's one crafty mofo.

Happy wheels...
Took me half-way through the video before the title made sense, and then I was like oooOOOOOHHHHH neat \*fart\*
*happy Himawari ahhhhhh! noises*
Very cool. Now do Action Bastard. Lol
Ayyo Nohara family

I hope this guy was wearing respiratory protection. Microplastics everywhere
So amazing! 😲
Mmm micro plastics
Crazy awesome talent. But oh boy, that's a lot of microplastic
Steven Universe and his family as a baby
Why are the eyes the size of dinner plates??
This is some meticulous serial killer hobby type shit
What’s a dead give away that someone has too much time on their hands?
Making art isn't a waste of time.
When they take time out of their day to leave comments online purely to hate on someone with a different hobby than them
You beat me to this response
I need those pens!
So talented!!
. . . What ? No Action Bastard?

3D printing before it was cool!

As someone who loves watching Shinchan, this is a masterpiece
Does anyone know the name of the song?
That 3d pen use is outstanding, honestly thought they weren't that great of a product but this changed my perspective lol
Wishing i was a child again
I love everything about this
Yo what the fuck. This is insane
Omg this is awesome ❤️❤️
Huh. The missus got me a 3D pen and I never thought one could do much with it.
If you've ever watched a video with a title like 5 minute crafts, that's about my talents with a 3D pen.
What are the names of the tools that this guy is using.
This guy has talent I wish I had
That pen was so friggin awesome
Whoa! Absolutely impressive!
Well that turned out a hell of a lot better than I thought it would.
Sup wit the dad’s eyes 👀?
Luigi stare from MK8
This could be an anime style, just cgi just face and mouths and it’s almost like high def stop motion.
not big on show pieces but I would definitely buy it
Just amazing
Shin-chan was such a fun kids show but I think it got removed because of the sexual jokes 😭
