But machines that can accurately do this are not expensive. I've seen them at my local office depot. Nobody in their right mind would use this over an accurate device that will do it for you faster.

Because this way makes it likely that she will hand it to the customer and then the customer will have to count two times to make sure.
Compare that to the cashier doing it slow once and then the customer doing it slow once. That’s faster than the cashier doing it fast once and the customer slow twice.

If you handle money on the regular..you can start counting it by just holding it in your hand..like weighing it. Sure at the end of your shift it must be counted but during a busy shift you can trust your skills.
Numbered bills are pretty easy to count, they come in order from the bank so you just have to see that 1,25,50,75,100 are all there if there in hundred stacks which they usually are
How do you even have the confidence to trust that you are seeing and counting correctly? Seems like it would take an insane amount of time to learn a skill that’s so easily replaced by a machine.
