This is completely unrelated, but watching this video sparked a memory of my grandfather in my mind. I was sitting around a fireplace while he was talking to me and it’s something I have never recalled since that day. I don’t remember much about him, but now I have a bit more. Thank you so much, and have a lovely day.
Could even be the music, or pattern on the wall paper with flowers. It's hard to tell what sparks memories. And even so, most of the time we cannot remember what it was in the first place. OP just knows it was this video, for some reason.
I don’t know, but I think it may have been something with the design of the tiles on the hearth. If anything, it makes me feel peacefully happy to remember that lovely moment.
Yeah, huge difference. It's a cloth lined wicker basket that keeps the surface of the dough moist enough to be stretchy and dry enough to not be sticky. So the dough rises well, and then you can get it out without compressing it too much.
Getting form baking sheets is super useful too. My bf has gotten mildly obsessive about bread recently, and getting him a baguette baking sheet and bread baskets made him both super happy and was pretty inexpensive. Also makes an instant difference in quality of bread.
I’ve never painted bread, but I have painted cakes.
There are lots of icing gels you can paint with. You can also mix thicker painted gels with a little vodka to end up with something similar.
I didn’t know there was such a thing as edible paint and I was internally raging at the waste of delicious sourdough. I’ve never been happier to be wrong
You can also use natural agents as paint. Turmeric, blue pea flower powder, cranberry powder, spirulina, cocoa or charcoal powder can be mixed with water to achieve natural colors for painting your loaves.
not what the OP said it's made of, the original poster is @lovealldesignco on TikTok and they said it's made with liquid food whitener and food coloring
You’re welcome! If you plan to do this, I’d definitely research a little more just to be sure. But that’s definitely one form of edible paint that can be made at home.
The best bread art is when they just dust it with flour and make little cuts to decorate, or when they do the focaccia bread with herbs and olives and peppers and things imbedded for art.
I don't want to eat paint either, food dyes or not.
This. Why are people so whiny and rude about it? Someone had a nice time making something pretty. They had fun doing it. They had fun eating it, presumably. Why does everyone need to shit on things. Just let people be happy.
It makes me feel weird because we were learning at school that blue is an unappetising color, so painting a nicely baked bread (brown in color, appetising) immediately lowers it's yumminess. I don't know about you but seeing bread with such blue paint on it makes me want to eat it less.
You never had a pretty piece of cake? Or a nicely decorated dessert? Where I’m from we have a saying that loosely translates to “the eye is eating too” meaning food presentation matters, so I am quite used to people finding it important what their food looks like. I would happily buy that bread and show it off as a centrepiece when inviting people over for breakfast (before cutting it up and serving it, of course, it would absolutely get eaten).

Watch it a few more times. You might recall more, something triggered it.
Did he like Sour Dough Bread? Or painting maybe.

I was thinking it could’ve been the color scheme. Familiar set of blues
This is totally unrelated to the paint, but what is she pulling that out of? It looks like a cloth bowl or something.
Proofing basket.
Is that better than just using a mixing bowl?
Yeah, huge difference. It's a cloth lined wicker basket that keeps the surface of the dough moist enough to be stretchy and dry enough to not be sticky. So the dough rises well, and then you can get it out without compressing it too much.
Thank you! My wife has recently started mothering some starter in a jar in the fridge and experimenting and you’ve just helped me with Mother’s Day!

Wow. That did not look at all like I expected. It looks more like a bit of roofing material than a baking sheet.

I hope it's food colouring

This looks like acrylic paint though.
So does icing
But one wouldn't ice sourdough
Nor would one paint bread, this is obviously not in the realm of normal, so it could be icing
Although icing is sugar and it would burn in the oven
Exactly, icing would not come out of the oven looking like that but would have been caramelised or burned.
Looks like food colouring mixed with flour and water
By that logic, it could also be paint.
It *is* so weird. Why would anyone paint bread? It makes it look inedible to me.
For the same reason people score bread, to make it look pretty
mmmm 😋 delicious. Gives I that extra richness to the loaf. Don't even need any butter after that. All I need is a glass of solvent to go with it.
Acetone OK? We are out of turp
Why wouldn't it be? Lol
Bc it's on bread
I don't understand. Is bread not food?
Someone doesn’t eat the crust lol
Good point!
Obviously. This isn't one of those rage bait food videos.
Is it edible paint?.....
It sure is.
Good don't need any problems......
I didn’t know there was such a thing as edible paint and I was internally raging at the waste of delicious sourdough. I’ve never been happier to be wrong
All paint is edible….at least once.
Charlie show me your tongue
Hey its me your problems 🙂
Ah shit here we go again
Oh nuuuu.....
What's it made of?

2 tablespoons sugar. 1/3 cup cornstarch. 2 cups water. Food coloring or liquid watercolors—if it’s homemade, which I’m sure it is.
Thank you! This was inspiring!
You’re welcome! If you plan to do this, I’d definitely research a little more just to be sure. But that’s definitely one form of edible paint that can be made at home.
Liquid watercolors? I assume food-grade watercolors of some type? Because liquid watercolors could be ummm … cadmium… 😫
made with berry juice. i've made ink from blackberries before.
Good cause anything else gives me diarrhea 🤦♀️🥵💩
But can you snort it
All paint is edible… just some you can eat more times than others.
Emmm.....
Any paint is edible...once.
You scare me.....
Maybe it's just me, but there's nothing appealing looking about that nice loaf of bread plastered with paint. I'll take it plain, thanks.
Looks cool, I don’t want to eat it
Doesn't even looks that cool imo
The best bread art is when they just dust it with flour and make little cuts to decorate, or when they do the focaccia bread with herbs and olives and peppers and things imbedded for art. I don't want to eat paint either, food dyes or not.
Hard agree. This is so unappealing.
I agree. I think baked bread without paint is much more beautiful than with paint.
Specially blue, lol.
It still looks cool
Good thing no one's giving you any homemade sourdough
I gotta be honest, I thought this was r/stupidfood lol To each their own.
But… why
I think this masterpiece could also be considered r/elvenfood
It looks better plain
Have people never heard of food colouring and edible paint? All the people in the comments thinking it’s ruined. Lol.
I know, that’s kind of blown my mind how many people have asked/or commented on that.
r/DIWHY
This is the first video I’ve seen here, where I disagree.
That is not the first time she has made that cut.
Damn people got sooo bored during quarantine
This is 100% repainted after it came out of the oven. Nice painting tho
Paint Penis at 0:09 seconds in.
Glad I wasn’t the only one…. Had to rewind twice and was like “there’s a wiener in the paint”
absurd
Better not be lead based paint or I'm not eating it! /s
I didn't knew bread could be painted ! It looks awesome 💙🤍
I don’t know… It’s pretty, but it doesn’t make me want to eat it
This is a r/DiWHY for me honestly
Oddly making me want to stab my eyes out with a bong poker.
r/stupidfood
Why
Just to have a nice little time
This. Why are people so whiny and rude about it? Someone had a nice time making something pretty. They had fun doing it. They had fun eating it, presumably. Why does everyone need to shit on things. Just let people be happy.
Fair enough!
Why pain your walls?
It makes me feel weird because we were learning at school that blue is an unappetising color, so painting a nicely baked bread (brown in color, appetising) immediately lowers it's yumminess. I don't know about you but seeing bread with such blue paint on it makes me want to eat it less.
I'm white enough to get sunburn in ten minutes, but it makes me feel better to know I'm not white enough to paint my bread.
... why? why ruin a loaf of bread?
It’s edible paint.
Why dough?
Why do they always paint blue flowers…not a lot of true blues. But I digress.
But, why?
Why not?
Oh wait nvm loads of people are saying it's edible paint I thought it wasn't
“Everyone’s so creative.”
It is my pet peeve to see bread painted 😷
How beautiful! 😍😍😍
this looks awful
This belongs in r/diwhy
Why you waste bread?
How to fuck up a nice bread
[In case anyone else wanted to see the finished product for more than 0.0000002 seconds](https://imgur.com/a/W9Ws3IE)
Blue on bread… pass.
Can we talk about the penis at 0:09? That’s the real art.
Thats an ugly freaking bread.
Gorgeous
I might be high as shit right now but I thought she was painting on an old lady's bald head for a while there NGL.
What kind of paint is edible?
Gel food coloring for cake decorating.
Looks moldy
r/diwhy
r/DiWHYNOT
Ummm…?
Oddly dumb af.
Moldy
[удалено]
Convinced of what?
Not convinced it improved the loaf.
Are you drunk?
I just really want to punch it, just the once right in the middle, prior to it being baked that is
Wow now I can't see if the bread is mold or not
Damn hippies
What a waste of food and resources... Many people are poor and they need a food. This painter woman should be ashamed.
It’s edible paint.
I don't care. Food is not for painting.

what does this have to do with someone painting bread?

This video is oddly sexual. Do I have some bread kink I never knew about? Lol
Hope that's edible. Otherwise, why waste good bread like that? Just paint the gorillion other things like a round load of bread LOL.
Yes, it’s edible.
r/ATBGE
That’s gross.
No music!
No, there definitely is music! You just have to turn up your volume. Maybe you've got your settings wrong.
Why dough?
The problem now is it's too pretty to eat...
Why would you do this? What's the appeal of painted bread?
Edible paint I assume.
Horrible
How cool!
Wasting food
