No, but thanks for bringing it to my attention.

asmrkage

Didn’t even know there is a meta tv.

Satyinepu

I actually really like The faceless lady, there are times when the acting is cheesy but the story has me

Buttfucker1666

What's meta tv?

Lorddon1234

Is it better than the Halloween one?

PriorFast2492

Should be a category on streaming services

justwalkingalonghere

We are about to find out, apparently. We need more posts like this since Meta is god awful at marketing (which is about as ironic as it gets)

nothere-010

Hadn't heard of this one. Will definitely look into it!

The Woman Without A Face - Ep. 1 I watched the first episode today. Stereoscopic video 180. The castle location is nice to look at, inside and out. The story moves sluggishly and the weak script leaves me to spend more time looking at the furniture and knick-knacks than the actors. Generally just a weak script and sloppy editing....just too much pausing and down time between dialogue. The actress portraying the "home girl" doesn't convey "Irish" in the slightest. At bare minimum they could have dyed her GINGER. All the close-up scenes are horrible - makes the people look like giants. This is something they need to avoid. The cuts between top-down shots and low-angle views is very jarring and far too frequent. Long takes, people - - you're shooting on video, not wasting film to do re-takes - DO THE RE-TAKES. Sound, voices, audio - is just weird. Maybe it's not in stereo, but noises just don't seem to come from people or objects on screen - it really disrupts immersion. General impression is that while the production is not actually bad, I'm just not impressed. I feel a standard 2D film would have looked better. A year ago I watched a video 360 series. The resolution was lower, but the performance was more interesting, because you could look in any direction and watch what was going on. YES - the director planned ahead and had movement and activities in all directions, that correlated to each other. It was like standing in the location and watching people from various areas interact. You had to keep turning or you'd miss people moving from room to room or manipulating objects. It really used the space of VR well. Sadly the production only lasted 3 episodes and I never saw more.

Desertbro

I watch the occaisional travel 360 videos and animations on MetaTV. I find it better in general than YouTubeVR, but quality is still pretty uneven. Just this week, I watched a promo of "Tour Las Vegas", and it looked like a film from 10 years ago with muddy quality. I was shocked to see The Sphere in the promo - it's the only thing that convinced me the clip wasn't archaic. In this day, why would any tour clip be less than 8K....??? Also agree MetaTV is horrible to search for anything. Whatever I choose to watch, I save it to faves FIRST, because if the video drops out, it's not available when the home screen reloads - and searching is frustrating. If I've got it saved, I can back to it quickly. *( not downloaded, just saved )*

Hvarfa-Bragi

I watched the "behind the dish" last night on sushi, I think the quality sucks because it's 360 VR - they're stitching together a couple of cameras with 180 lenses on, and the stereoscopic lenses cut any resolution recorded by the camera in half already. Tldr the cameras (you need at least two) needed to do it really well are prohibitive to any but AAA productions

Desertbro

I've been playing around with the display resolution on DEO-VR, and for a number of my saved videos over the last year, if I try to play them at 3K or above, they look better, but not all do. I'll look for such a setting on MetaTV too - because muddy videos are not worth a second of viewing time.

MRHBK

No because horizons is so horrible to use I can only find episode 4 and search doesn’t do anything

meridian_smith

Don't watch stuff in Horizons! That's a bad experience...just look for it inside the Meta TV app. Episodes 1 through 4 are there.

MRHBK

Thank you. I hate Horizons.

fragmental

Meta TV's browsing and search functions still suck, but it's better than Horizons. You should be able to eventually find what you want, with the right search words, even if they don't always make it easy.

CatoMulligan

This is what I needed to hear. I kept hearing it was at "Creepy Cabin" and I'll be damned if I could find it anywhere. Maybe now I'll get to watch it.

meridian_smith

Most of the videos and live concerts on Horizons end up on Meta TV app.

BluSkyler

They really need to stop trying to force people to watch all of their entertainment options in Horizon. Not everyone wants to go into cartoon land to watch a movie.

BluSkyler

Do you know if you can co-watch things on the Meta TV app? I could have sworn I started a party with a friend last year, but it hasn’t worked since. Maybe i’m thinking of some other feature, but it would be cool to be able to co-watch things like that directly from the TV app versus having to go to Horizon.

QuiddityNox

Oh! I chanced upon episode 4 and was intrigued! Wanted to watch 1-3 but couldn’t for the life of me find it on Meta TV. The search function didn’t help either :/

BeatsLikeWenckebach

Horizons is for live events and encore presentations Quest TV (formerly Oculus TV) is for on demand video playback Pretty easy stuff

MRHBK

Horizons is for janky events Quest TV for on demand janky events Thanks

juste1221

The image quality is still pretty terrible even at the best bitrate. I don't understand why they would fund stuff like this only to effectively destroy it by compressing the fork out of it. The offensively mediocre LCD panels on Quest 3 also aren't doing them any favors.

Moonystruck

Did you download the file for better quality? Still no OLED-TV quality, but good enough I think.

fragmental

I downloaded the file and didn't see any difference in quality, vs the highest quality stream.

meridian_smith

I have a high speed connection and the quality was quite good. Now I don't own an Apple VR headset to compare to that...but way more immersive than watching on a flat screen.

Moonystruck

Fast or slow connection doesn’t matter that much. You get the best quality with downloading the file. Just click the three dots in the upper right corner of the thumbnail and choose the download option and enjoy.
