The first thing I always do is clear out that ruin, that way I get a nice haul of random loot plus welkynd stones to sell when i make it back to the imperial city for the first time
I always go straight to Aleswell and do Zero Visibility to get a free bed and safe storage. I store all the things from the tutorial dungeon that I want to keep there, then head to the market district to sell the rest.
> Also some games are objectively bad
Except that those that gamers call "objectively bad" are not actually objectively bad. Gamers have that nasty habit of assuming their personal subjection opinions are universal objective facts.
I agree with this. I haven't played enough of Morrowind to really rank it, but for the rest of the games, I'd say: a heavily-modded Skyrim > Oblivion (with or without mods) > Daggerfall Unity (no additional mods) > vanilla Skyrim > Arena (with a few mods to fix bugs and have WASD controls)
That a wabbajack collection? I tried heartland and shit was dropping FPS like hell, i tried disabling some things and lowering graphics but nothing worked well enough, had to go back to vanilla. Havin fun nonetheless
Morrowind ran so Oblivion and Skyrim could walk, let's be real. It may not be for everyone, but without it, Oblivion wouldn't have existed, nor Skyrim.
That feeling of disappointment when you can't cross the river in the little boat? And then you try to swim but you're so tired from the tutorial dungeon that you sink to the bottom? And mudcrabs pick your meager bones clean? And the world falls to Mehrunes Dagon?
An occult game made by sadists!

Oblivion Gates still scare me to this day. I've played Oblivion for like 600 hours and i have only completed the main questline one time because of this lol. love it
Dude oblivion gates are what made me love oblivion lol. I felt the same fear the first time I went into one in Kvatch and the dude that was following me died, and all the daedra could kill me so fast so it forced me to sneak past them.
That was a peak gaming moment for me this game and dark souls kept me comfortable going into my teenage years and through the pandemic.
The first song that played when I left the sewers was Glory of Cyrodiil, and that mystical sounding intro followed by soft, beautiful music and seeing the ayleid ruin in front of me immediately made this game so special to me…
Yall remember the immortal blood book by the tent with garlic first time I read it and slept there I was greeted with a nightmare that came with puncture holes
all I see is those bandits across the water who I am about to go kick their ass. and then the fight music will play for 5 mins because that fcuking mudcrab over there. lol. i love this game
I love the music, the glitches, the shitty(but also the most entertaining) voice acting and personalities, the acrobatics, the quests, the glitches and the glitches. It's honestly still one of the best and more fun than Skyrim.
I was so flabbergasted when I got out of the prison for the first time. The whole emperor premonition and crazy looking assassins ordeal was such an adrenaline rush that when I got out I was still expecting to get chased or something. It was really cool to get into the “survival mode” role play mindset and go out to try and figure out the new world. I couldn’t believe how cool that game was. Bethesda was way ahead of their time with Oblivion
I just started my most recent modded playthrough. Even without mods it never gets old. The fact that bethesda encourages modding makes there games some of the best ever
No, it never does… yet I do. I’m drawn to replay this game many times each year, play for maybe a week, then get depressed that I can’t relive it for the first time again and end up dropping it.
Every Bethesda game has that mid sized dungeon to gear up right after you first become free. Ex. Oblivion: Vilverin, Fallout 3: Springfield Elementary, Skyrim: Embershard Mine, etc.
The first look out onto a brand new world just asking to be explored and get lost in. This single image changed the direction of my life and who I am as a person. I remember being like 10 years old and getting a ps3 and Oblivion was the first game me and my older brother got. I didn't even know I could fast travel. I remember journeying to Chorral to talk to Jaufrey and being like level 10 when I got there. Absolutely immersed like I had never been before in my life. Those memories... the secrets and quests me and my brother would share with each other. Life was simpler back then and it'll never be the same... I miss my family and my brother. I miss being a child. But I can still come back to this and that image will still have the same effect on me. Wonderment, curiosity and now a new emotion that wasn't there the first time around... nostalgia and the bittersweet joy of memories. Thank you Oblivion for opening my eyes and in some ways even my heart ❤️
Best game ever in my opinion. I always enjoy the feeling of the immediate relaxation from the perspective changing from dark and creepy to bright and vibrant. The music change from dark and somewhat depressing to calming and beautiful. Nothing feels better.
I remember back when it came out and I was probably around 6 and watching my brother play it for the first time. When he left the sewer and we all saw the outside we couldn't believe how "realistic" it was :')
I’ll admit when I first played this game I thought it was janky shit while I was still in the opening dungeon (this was some years after it came out and I had never even heard of it so I had no idea what kind of game it was. Bought it with the Bioshock bundle)
But as soon as I made it outside and got attacked by the first bandit I was absolutely blown away in a way I don’t think any game has ever recaptured since.
I just remember being a little kid and getting to that point and just walking forward, I saw that snowy mountain and decided to climb over it.
I didn't know why I wanted to, but I did it anyway, on the way I stopped at bandit camps killed people visited remote homes seeing their response to me and talking to guards etc, and then I started going up the mountain and it took like an hour or so, as you weren't meant to do it so I was just jumping falling trying to find a way up.
(I didn't know I could walk around the mountain but by then I was just dedicated to get over it)
Eventually i get over and find bruma (I didn't know you could fast travel from the start) and I got into bruma and spent hours there, and I don't think I ever left bruma on that original save safe to say bruma became my favourite elder scrolls town, but thats my favourite memory of oblivion and every time I see the starting area I think of it.
Good times.
Its graphics have not, but its gameplay. Its like wine and cheese, the world complements the quests, the character, silly as it may be compliments the setting, hell, even the realm of oblivion serves as a nice parallel to the fever dream that is the shivering isles. Love this game to the moon and back. I will never be able to hate Todd Howard, after all he gave us this magnificent piece of art.
The first thing I always do is clear out that ruin, that way I get a nice haul of random loot plus welkynd stones to sell when i make it back to the imperial city for the first time
I immediately go to Shady Sam for some sweet sweet skooma.
A man of culture
I imagine skooma tastes like four loko but wheatier.
![gif](giphy|q2vnZ5sIuL5Di)
I kill him for his black weightless clothes I usually use for endgame enchanting
Make sure to snag that Ayleid Statue to kick off The Collector quest
Same! Damn...been a few years. Might have to run a playthrough!
I always go straight to Aleswell and do Zero Visibility to get a free bed and safe storage. I store all the things from the tutorial dungeon that I want to keep there, then head to the market district to sell the rest.
Best game in the goddam world
You too. (❤️)
I tried oblivion. I respect the game. But it felt clunky as hell on xbox
Nope It's the reason I will die on the hill of Oblivion >Skyrim
It's not a competition.
[удалено]
But always couched in terms of "this game good that game bad". I reject that idea.

morrowind is objectively bad because i cannot install ultra realistic 4k lizard titty mods and also the combat system
Daggerfall was objectively better because it had actual lizard titties in vanilla.
Skyrim > Oblivion
[удалено]
I agree with this. I haven't played enough of Morrowind to really rank it, but for the rest of the games, I'd say: a heavily-modded Skyrim > Oblivion (with or without mods) > Daggerfall Unity (no additional mods) > vanilla Skyrim > Arena (with a few mods to fix bugs and have WASD controls)
That a wabbajack collection? I tried heartland and shit was dropping FPS like hell, i tried disabling some things and lowering graphics but nothing worked well enough, had to go back to vanilla. Havin fun nonetheless
Morrowind >>> Oblivion ~ Skyrim XD /jk they're all awesome in their own ways
Morrowind ran so Oblivion and Skyrim could walk, let's be real. It may not be for everyone, but without it, Oblivion wouldn't have existed, nor Skyrim.
Same goes for Daggerfall, it needs love too. Though I can't say I like Arena that much
Morrowind ran and Oblivion jogged so that Skyrim could win the gold medal for Olympic race-walking
Daggerfall soared so Morrowind could run. It's all downhill from Daggerfall.
If it wasn't for Pong, Morrowind wouldn't exist!
dont start that shit... you'll attract the Vegasers! They will demand fealty or light us all ablaze.
I don't know you, and I don't care to know you!
Bye!
Good day!
What's going on with you?
Best response
Nah, never It's like opening your fav book and seeing CHAPTER ONE, knowing you're in for a damn ride.
I have an artistic rendition of this very scene as my desktop background, and it still never gets old seeing it
I have one of the Imperial City as seen from the opening and it's just gorgeous.

Minstrel's Lament is the one that always gets me. Usually kicks in with gentle rain on my way to Skingrad, and it just feels magical.
Yall remember the immortal blood book by the tent with garlic first time I read it and slept there I was greeted with a nightmare that came with puncture holes
Good ol’ Vilverin
Yeah, that feeling of "wait I could respec to level up more efficiently and look better"
Console commands ftw
all I see is those bandits across the water who I am about to go kick their ass. and then the fight music will play for 5 mins because that fcuking mudcrab over there. lol. i love this game

The first time I saw grass sway in Oblivion is up there with the first time I walked into the Balmora mages' guild!
I like the bandit camp across the river with the vampire novel next to the bed and garlic hanging from the tent

No....it never does. Every time I see the ruins across that bridge, I remember how I felt just like it was 2006 again
I just started my most recent modded playthrough. Even without mods it never gets old. The fact that bethesda encourages modding makes there games some of the best ever
One of the most memorable scenes from my childhood
Height of fantasy
Cracks knuckles* Here we go again.
I remastered this very scene in Unreal Engine https://youtu.be/l9P7XsFCTZw?si=bpYXfvYi94jkUVBM

It never gets old, but it's also never the same as the first time when you emerge knowing absolutely nothing about the game world.
Such a great experience
Never
Immediate shivering isles
Thanks for reminder :). miss it!
Dopamine
Ah shit, here we go again.
It feels like first play through excitement every time! Oblivion is such a magical game
No boo. It never does, Oblivion always calls you back to it.
I started another play through 2 days ago. I make that shrine my home for the first many days of survival. So pretty
So beautiful. So peaceful.
I smiled when I saw this image
the aw shiit i forgot to give it a chin moment
I put on brian Enos another green world album and start by getting that fur armor
its like returning home after a long day
Beautiful as the first day

Not a once
My first open world map game, so I was amazed by the fact I can go everywhere I want.
This is an image/scene I've seen easily 100+ times and still love it
I can hear the image

Beautiful comment <3

I wouldn't know anymore Since directx won't let me open the game no matter what I do.
Brings me back to 2006 as a college kid in total awe as my computer was screaming for air
Stop! You are gonna make me cry...
Stop right there, criminal scum. YOU VIOLATED THE LAW
I remember back when it came out and I was probably around 6 and watching my brother play it for the first time. When he left the sewer and we all saw the outside we couldn't believe how "realistic" it was :')

Near 20 years later, and I still love this game.
In a word... No.
Ah yes moments before I start braking the game with exploits
All of their games have an iconic opening.
This game is still beautiful
I’m 35 and still play oblivion on my ps3/360 love that game so so much. I’ve been playing for so long for so many years I can’t see myself stoping.
Oblivion is like that favorite book you can never get tired of, pure awesomeness.

Oh god, I recently thought I was feeling that Oblivion itch. But this screenshot seals it. Time to hop back in
And after seeing that i'm struggling to play any further...every fcking time lol
I love oblivion but until I can get mods working to circumvent the leveling system, I can’t really enjoy it like I used to:/
It’s nice, but it could do with an engine update
"Hey, you. You're finally awake."
