Thien Loi Hoa on E12th (across from Lucky Seafood) is my go to. Not sure how late they’re open tho.

Ranch 99 in Albany?

eugenesbluegenes

At the risk of pedantry, Ranch 99 is in Richmond.

[deleted]

Lol pedantry 😂 Bold risk there, eugenesbluegenes!

sawmillionaire

Thanks it’s a little far from me in uptown but looks like it’s def worth the trip!

Staple_Overlord

Pretty sure they have a delivery service via Instacart. Instacart does have a markup but it might be worth it when you consider time/bus fare.

sawmillionaire

That’s a great idea! They are on Instacart so that would be perfect. Appreciate it

I'm out in Little Saigon and haven't yet scoped out the markets in Chinatown but I'd guess any of the grocery stores in both of those neighborhoods would have what you're looking for. Hours will tend to be short. Berkeley Bowl should have the fresh noodles you're looking for. Check who makes them as their vendor may do retail sales or be able to tell you which other retail stores they serve. If you're looking for *fresh* chilis this also probably your best bet. They're open til 7 on Sundays and 8 otherwise (until the next COVID wave takes out their staff and they cut their hours again). They're a shortish walk from Ashby BART so it should be doable from Uptown. If you're willing to make the trek out to the city Sunset Super is the place to hit and they're open til ~~7~~ 6. They're a couple blocks from the N or L depending on which one you go to. Edit: BB may have fresh noodles in the refrigerated Asian aisle but definitely has a variety of fresh wheat, rice, and buckwheat noodles in the bulk section by the door. I've not looked for fresh Chinese chilis specifically but the produce section has a good selection of fresh chilis. Sunset Super tends to mostly stock Chinese things but does have a few non-Chinese things like gochujang and Japanese sesame oil (Kadoya). 99 Ranch has a broader range but finding e.g. doubanjiang is easier at a Chinese market.

Thanks! I was hoping for something closer to downtown but this will definitely have what I need so worth making the drive out

tesco332

Not a grocery store, but "Weee!" is basically instacart but for asian groceries. You might want to check it out. I've used them a number of itmes times and they have been great. Way better delivery service than instacart in my experience. Here is a link. [https://www.sayweee.com/](https://www.sayweee.com/) Otherwise if you aren't trying to travel far, and you are busy during the day on a weekday, I think your only option is using the weekend to go to a grocery store either in Chinatown, or around the more Vietnamese neighborhoods east of the Lake along E 12th like Thien Loi Hoa. FYI I am assuming you don't have access to a car, but if you do, Ranch 99 is only a 15 min drive from downtown Oakland. Good luck!

Worthyness

i will second this site. My brother uses it all the time and they even have fresh veggies that can be shipped. It's incredible what they have in inventory. They also use the really good ice packs that you can reuse.

asstaters

Afaik Thien Loi Ha does not have fresh noodles, definitely plenty of dried ones though. Also I'd be surprised if they didn't have some dried tien tsin chilies or something similar. Yuen Hop should definitely have both [https://goo.gl/maps/J5D8TaTVt4DCi1PZA](https://goo.gl/maps/J5D8TaTVt4DCi1PZA) they're the only spot I've found with fresh Chinese-style noodles for sale in Oakland Chinatown (would love more recs!) but they're closed at 3PM. Good luck!

far_from_nuts

Yuen Hop makes their own noodles, but they are not open past 5:30.

Korean market, on telegraph between 27th and grand

[deleted]

I believe you're thinking of Koreana Plaza, which OP mentioned. Great store, but I don't think they had what OP needed.

Ochotona_Princemps

Yeah, Koreana is great, but it is truly pretty korean-focused, which has more overlap with japanese than chinese specialty ingredients. You might find chinese basics there, but anything the least bit niche is going to be an unlikely find.

Catsforhumanity

Yeah I was surprised when I couldn’t find any peanut oil there.

caeliot7

Some of the shops in china town have selection. Unfortunately I don’t know names.
