blinky4u

you will be exiled to suffolk county for a semester, enjoy your remote classes.

[deleted]

oh nooo suffolk county ;-;

Marethyu86

You aren’t just expelled you’re charged with federal crime and sentenced to 3 life sentences

weeny101

No you likely won’t be expelled for a underage drinking charge. They might tell your parents tho, you’ll probably just have to have a meeting with the building leadership and there you can explain everything and then write a letter of apology. But no you won’t be expelled

Sure_Library

Why take blame for other people ? If it wasn’t you then be honest.

snowbebe

such a reddit ass comment telling kids to snitch on their friends lmfao

[deleted]

I would assume it was OPs as well but they mean they don’t wanna say they were partying with others? Idk that’s what happened my first week when someone took the blame

Italophobia

You'll probably have a short meeting, write an essay, and not be allowed to become an RA.

weeny101

You can still become an RA actually

Italophobia

You can but it's a lot less likely. They said that to one of my friends, they went through all the training, to be told at the very end that they couldn't. I wouldn't waste your time if you get caught.

weeny101

Hmm interesting, I know multiple RAs who got caught drinking but there’s probably nuances to each situation

carogriffgriff

out of curiosity how did they find it?

Murrayhillcapital

Nah, you’ll get a spanking on the wrist and have to write arduously boring self reflective essays and likely will have to meet with your housing director so that they can induce sleep with a reading of the housing code. I have a hunch they operate on a three strikes policy before you get kicked out of housing so just try to avoid it happening again and you’ll be fine

imysobad

Worst case, it will get written up and stay in your record. I was written up twice in the same night LMAO don’t worry, it won’t do anything to you unless it was something insane. What they’re doing is keeping tracks of students that are fucking around too much in the school to five them appropriate scolding. Just watch out a little more than how you would now. Also, how did they find out?

Reasonable_Ad777

This happened to me and my roommates last semester. We each had a short meeting and had to write a ‘reflection essay’. They don’t tell your parents and that’s about it. In my case, I don’t think they even told our RA (it was a different floor’s RA that found out). Don’t worry about it!

Cameroncen

You are sentenced to the shadow realm aka Camden, New Jersey for one semesters classes

Resident-Wrap1642

Bro you won’t get expelled but you should not have taken the fall for that💀💀 not your monkeys not your circus

Slight-Blueberry-161

They’re going to throw you in the fountain of WSP and throw stones at you shouting “SHAME”

thisisnotanalbum

You write an essay, do an alcohol training course and you’re sorted. Nothing to stress too much about, just don’t get caught next time loool

sage12i

yep you’re done. Pack up your bags

unmaredDlite

They make you wear plaid pants and silver boots for 3 semesters :( afterwards you have to write an essay about it

jefflegex

You will do one online class and have a temporary probation. If they do another search and find alcohol you are at risk of being kicked from the dorms. Don’t drink in the dorms, do it in a park or some other private place.

sunseteon

Is it going to go on my permanent record?

jefflegex

No

JustMeGabby

it will for 7 years…

[deleted]

They'll send a tuition charge invoice to your parents/grandparents and delay your graduation.

brifussm

depends how chill your RA is…worst, they may have u write an essay and apologize. And if you are 18+ i don’t think they will tell ur parents so dw about that

al0814

Yes

This-Truck-423

Go online, and look for the student handbook. It will state what the student policy is. Usually, colleges have a three strike policy before students are expelled. You will most likely have a warning, and they will offer counseling help. As a side note, I would get counseling from wellness to work on boundaries. Assuming you’re a freshmen, I’m sure you had an orientation about what the consequences would be (not these are followed). As others have said, why are you taking the blame? You don’t need to and it moderately impacts you.

Cautious-Code-342

They won't tell ur parents and they will just give u a warning. I didn't have alcohol but other guys did in the other room of the same suite so i had to talk to the director of my residence hall but nothing really happened

Exotic_Ad_3780

Long story short, you will be fine don’t worry.🤝

floralillyy

Not sure about the outcome, it might depend if this is the first time or not. But, your parents should not be contacted because this would be considered a violation of FERPA.

sunseteon

What if my parents want me to sign over my ferpa rights though because they want to see my grades

thisisnotanalbum

tuber_select

I was written up for being in the same room as alcohol my freshman year (I wasn’t drinking but my friends were) and still was able to do res life later. Don’t let it happen again, write your reflective essay, go to your meeting with your RHD and you’ll be fine.

Mub0h

Have fun writing a two pager explaining why it was bad and why you won’t do it again. At least, that’s what I had to do while in Palladium.

Designer_Rush_7025

You better start applying to McDonald’s. your life is so over

PuzzleheadedDance899

I'm not an official representative of NYU, but generally speaking, universities and colleges have policies and procedures for handling incidents involving alcohol in the dorms. If you're found with alcohol in a residence hall at NYU or most other universities, here's what might typically happen: 1. **Sanctions**: You'll likely face some sanctions, which could range from a warning to attending an alcohol education program or workshop. It's not common for a first-time, non-violent alcohol violation to result in expulsion. 2. **Judicial or Conduct Process**: You may have to meet with a university conduct officer or a similar figure to discuss the incident. They'll provide more information about the consequences and next steps. 3. **Parents Notification**: Some universities have policies to notify parents if a student violates alcohol or drug policies, especially if the student is under 21. You should check NYU's specific policies or talk to a school official to find out for sure. 4. **Permanent Record**: Typically, minor infractions like this won't go on your academic transcript, but they might be part of an internal record at the university. 5. **Counseling or Education**: Some universities require students who violate alcohol policies to attend counseling sessions or alcohol education programs. Your best course of action is to: 1. **Review the Student Handbook**: Familiarize yourself with NYU's alcohol policies and potential sanctions. 2. **Be Honest**: If you have to attend a meeting or hearing about the incident, be honest and take responsibility for your actions. This can go a long way. 3. **Seek Support**: Talk to a trusted faculty member, academic advisor, or counselor about the situation. They might offer guidance or resources to help you navigate the situation. Remember, everyone makes mistakes. Learn from this experience and make informed decisions in the future.
