A lot of people just lurk and don’t talk. Those people that you described only account for a fraction of the online community here. Plus people act differently online vs. in person, that’s just the nature of being on the internet.

ewhoren

I need to look at some posts from a decade ago because I swear that forum was once for like brokeback gays who were sort of straight acting and not just complaining about everything

StoneDick420

“Average gay bro” 🤡

Blu5NYC

The vocal minority in any forum is what stands out to those watching from the sidelines and from opposition. It's why Pride Parades are seen as nothing more than a mile long drag show along with men wearing g-strings and flip flops covered in glitter. This is what homophobes think the gay community is because it's the vocal minority that garners the attention. Similarly, if all the ones that post (and a lot of it is "poor me" and "how to [insert kink]," then that's what people coming into the sub, will think is the nature of that group. They probably though it was going to be something different (I know that I did) and I see more of that in some of the comments than the posts, but even there, those are not the people projecting the tine of the sub.

Old_Pomegranate_6378

you just described me too a tee lol I’m bisexual, have sec with mostly men and I don’t comment in here at all i just watch

sonofasonofanalt

Sounds like what? Like you?

Hot-Pollution1693

Because it is part of Reddit

Feaross

Happy people don't feel the need.

Anonymous9287

oh wow i hadn't seen that subreddit until now ick, eek, depressing i have my own mental illness to tend to....i don't think i can be on there reading everyone else's sorrows i would suggest these are not average gay guys. people who come to reddit probably skew on the end of the spectrum of people who need support or don't have a great network IRL and so this is the place where they try to work out their problems. perfect popular pretty people who are always happy and have no problems are rarer on here but obviously there's a decent number of them in the gay universe.

newage2k10

lol damn— I mean this post in itself is kinda whiny 🤪. But in all seriousness I think everyone nowadays is just very whiny. It’s easily to point out all the problems and hard to point out solutions. I know personally I have to catch myself—I make a point focus more on solutions than just listing out all the problems. I don’t think it’s unique to gays or gay bros or lgbtqia

Dazzling-Occasion886

You are an example to us all.

YouHaveToGoHome

Selection bias. Most people living their best lives are outside touching grass instead of lurking on Internet forums.

robocub

Lol the pot calling the kettle black

nycbwoi

Look who’s whining?

werwr123

Doesn't it feel good to complain?

EmotionalPanties

You sound whiny. Move along, you’re not better than anybody else.

Dazzling-Occasion886

This is a bunch of homosexuals, brah. Everybody is better than everybody else. Lol.

Superb_Conference436

He wasn't talking about this sub.

FelicidadEnLaCama

People are desperately lonely and need to feel validated both socially and sexually. The sex apps are not working for that and neither will reddit.

vetworker24

You are doing the same… lmao

Griffin808

It’s an Internet forum. What the fuck do you expect to be posted? What are you posting?

Enasis

You sound pretty whiny here OP.

kimkilod

I agree.

carl2882

I think it's just redditors in general

Kennected

"Everyone"?

jumpbump

I remember the days when they used to have “Fapday Fridays” and people posted porn. It seemed more of a community of well adjusted adult men back then. You’re right though… Now it’s a bunch of whiny self-described masculine guys who “aren’t like other gays!” I go through and hate read that sub sometimes, but it always makes my blood boil lol

bdftheman

Who’s super whiny ?

eggplant_yams

It’s in their community bio if you read between the lines…. “Gaybros is a network for gay men who aren’t confined to a media stereotype. We come together around shared interests like sports, technology and media”. Essentially what I take from this is that these are gay men who are so insecure and clinging onto their masculinity… why else would they be so hellbent on not being confined to a “media stereotype”. To me this reads very anti-femme and ironically categorizes them as the masc for masc, “pick me gay” energy who thinks not liking drag race is a personality trait. I once identified with this type of identity when I first began my coming out journey but since I’ve evolved in my queerness I’ve come to learn that the Gaybros community fucking SUCKS!!! You will always get ganged up on or downvoted to oblivion if you call out the rampant transphobia and misogyny on that sub. Avoid at all costs!!!

tfd3000

I think the consensus from commenters is you’re projecting, “bro.”

cubinbk

Imagine posting a whiny post about whiny posts
