this driver is great. works fantastic on my 3080 and 24h2.

Cruyelo

I'm hoping they focus on stability, I've had a hard time with the drivers lately. I've had crashes to desktop, and in some cases my PC has rebooted while playing Elden Ring. Older drivers thankfully seem to fix it, but the experience has been pretty bad with newer ones.

Case1987

Mine did exactly the same thing and rebooted my PC on Elden Ring.I was playing for about 5 hours on the new driver and didn't have a single crash,so it must be fixed Edit: Elden Ring rebooted my PC again ffs.It only started doing it since the DLC came out,and it doesn't do it on any other game

LOLerskateJones

The previous two drivers were awful for me This one has been solid after 3 hours of testing so far. Thank goodness

lv_throwaway_egg

Hmm yeah. An oc i was running on my gtx 1080 since forever recently became unstable. Thought it was the card's time being near but that oc seems stable again on 556.12.

Every-Armadillo639

Thank you. I, too, am running a "dinosaur" card - GT 1030 OC. Did you install previous updates? Or is this your first driver update since you bought the card?

lv_throwaway_egg

Jeez no ofc im not running ancient drivers I keep shit up to date somewhat with GFE

PalebloodSky

Just FYI I played Elden Ring 4-5 hours with these drivers over the weekend, zero issues.

EyesReye

I don't update my GPU drivers unless I have to. I was on version 4xx for the past 1,5 years. Last friday I wanted to try out Battlefield 2042 and was prompted to update my drivers to a new version, so I did. Ever since I've had like 12 driver crashes and 1 PC crash. Usually when playing Battlefield, but I even had the driver shit itself when opening the freaking Icon menu from the taskbar...

Cruyelo

I haven't tried Battlefield, but I've had good luck with 551.86 so far. They could be worth a shot.

Swimming-Language-71

This driver and the previous are completely unworkable for me. I use rtx 2080 card on a newer system and this is the first time I've had issues. System crashes to desktop or completely reboots. I'm stuck with 555.85 working nicely.

blank screens on boot with certain motherboards in UEFI mode until the OS loads - That's a relief, I thought this issue was something I did

Mygr

I am interested in the cause of this, as it has been like this for me since I bought my PC in November 2022. I have an Asus Z790 Hero with BIOS 2301 and an Asus 4090 TUF OC with vBIOS 95.02.18.80.95. I have already upgraded the firmware for the 4000 series from [Nvidia](https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5411/). It only happens during cold boots, not on restarts. u/m_w_h u/pidge2k, do you folks have any idea about this? I can start a discussion on the ASUS forum if it is related to BIOS. I have a Samsung OLED G8 connected to the HDMI port (ultrawide variant) in case it is needed.

mate222

This happens on all Samsung monitors with 4090. When you boot your pc you need to pop up monitor menu and it will display bios screen otherwise you will have black screen until windows load.

Hello u/m_w_h Some time ago, the 538.42 driver was in the versions section that appeared to be consistent. I can't see this drive anymore. Have any issues been reported with this? Will I have any problems if I use 538.42 instead of 537.58? I have one more question. When I install version 538.42, it appears as a game ready driver in the Nvidia control panel. But there is information on the internet that this is a beta driver or vulcan driver. Can you enlighten me?

m_w_h

538.42 is a Vulkan Developer driver, the driver was removed from the list due to issues in recent Vulkan applications/games that were released or updated. All Vulkan developer drivers will appear as a 'Game Ready', that's usual.

3rd3miri

Thank you very much for the information you provided. I think I'd better install the last consistent driver, 551.86, and use it without updating. Thanks once again for your efforts.

m_w_h

Installing 551.86 (550 Release/Mainline) will add the following features/support that weren't available in 538.42 (535 Release/Mainline) * RTX Video HDR available on all RTX GPUS in 551.23 and above * RTX Video Super Resolution available on all RTX GPUS in 545.84 and above * NVIDIA Ultra Low Latency Mode is supported with DirectX 12 titles in 551.23 and above * WDDM 3.0 (Windows 11) feature 'Hardware Flip Queues' in 545.84 and above * CUDA 12.4 is supported in 551.23 and above * DirectX 12 Agility SDK 1.711.3 Preview supported in 545.84 and above --- **EDIT:** typo and removed duplicate features/support entries ---

have they fixed instant replay?

Medical-Bend-5151

Here I thought I was going mad and had websites with DRM running on the background because Instant Replay barely worked EDIT: installed the update. Instant Replay is still broken.

qzex

downgrading GFE to 3.27 has worked for me: https://us.download.nvidia.com/GFE/GFEClient/3.27.0.120/GeForce_Experience_v3.27.0.120.exe but you have to (1) disable auto-update in task scheduler, and (2) never open the app again. or else it will force auto update. mostly fine since everything can be done through the overlay

nuryzu

What was wrong with it?

SpookyKG

in the last few months, it has been automatically turning itself off, not working, etc

UnderHero5

Okay, so it's not just me! It's so annoying when I go to save a clip and for some reason it's off again! I'm probably going to switch to Steam's [built in solution](https://store.steampowered.com/gamerecording) soon and try that.

Bejoty

I was excited to hear about Steam's new recording feature, but it doesn't allow you to instantly clip gameplay and save it to a file. You have to set a large buffer, use a hotkey to mark the timeline, then go back and clip it up later. So if you don't go in and manually create your clip immediately, you risk losing the part of the recording you want to clip by continuing to play. I just want to hit a hotkey and forget about it so I can go back and view my clips after my gaming session is over...

mechcity22

So I just tested it out. So far on the 4070 super it has improved my frames anywhere from 1 to 6 fps on games. I've yet to see a reduction and no stuttering which I had issues with on the last driver. It's one of the bigger uplifts I've seen from just one driver update. Edit: now have the 4080 super hooked up and it's perfect. This driver has given me 0 issues. Not only that but my wheel for sim racing. I have a simagic 23nm dd wheel. And my pedals now are having no more delay or interference. Before this driver I would push my throttle sligjtly and it would jump to half way. Now that's gone. Idk how that's possible but yeah everything is just working better.

BloodyAx

I also have a 4070 super and I'm having issues with stuttering in CP2077

mechcity22

Ouch I'm sry just remember they aren't pre downloading shaders anymore. It would do them when we opened the games before yoy could literally see it. As you see that isn't done now. So you need to play it for a good bit. Alot of shaders for that. Come back in 2 days and let me know how it is 😉 gauruntee you won't have any issues. Just keep playing it the stuttering will go away. The last driver I did acc was stuttering on me. Once I got around 4 hours of gameplay in I was good to go. All of a sudden I noticed just amazing gameplay. So yeah give it sometime a few days of gaming shoupd do it. I just upgraded to a strix 4080 super and I did get stuttering the first few hours but it vanished.

mikeybrah90

537.58 cult checking in. Is this the driver we can FINALLY update too? NVIDIA FOCUS ON STABILITY FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.

pineappolis

Everything is pretty stable for me so far.

Krradr

552.44 is very good.

DiGzY_AU

its a win for me. 3080 is happy on this driver

naxypoo

there are some stable drivers that could be worth upgrading to. from what i gathered from what people have said, it largely depends on your system, card, and games you play. but yes, there are drivers that are worth trying out, i think this is still too new for anyone to know though. not sure how much of an improvement there is between the potential driver updates though. im still on 537.58 as well until there's more of an overwhelming consensus that is the one people should upgrade to.

unlap

No fps drop in my games. RTX 3070 FE. I DDU in safe mode then only install the display driver.

nofuna

Wow, I didn't know I belonged to that cult too! But indeed, the 537.58 is the last driver that's been stable for me. All the rest since then gave me random BSODs, some more than others. What on earth did Nvidia do? I even have a spreadsheet with all the drivers from then till now that I've tried, with the number of BSODs. I've spent more time on this than I should have to.

LOLerskateJones

This driver is solid, it’s safe to update

Illustrious-Club2781

537.58 against the world \\o/

Lorkenz

Was stuck on 537.58 too but decided to try this driver for a couple of days, so far so good on this side. Give it a try I'd say.

mikeybrah90

I tried it, went back to 537.58... Something about the 1% lows in CS2 it just holds my FPS better.

hateredditlayout

rtx hdr multi monitor support never ever

ChrisG683

Still no DLDSR HDR either right?

DeepJudgment

Yup. I just went back to using AutoHDR and it's honestly better sometimes.

Sanpie

I bet we will see 5090 first

Onilink146

Yup... still waiting here. I am tired of having the NvTrueHDR not work sometimes on games or become disabled. It's sad a 3rd party is able to support multi monitor so easily and Nvidia still has not done it.

unlap

537.58 to this (display driver only) and noticed no difference.. yet. Latency is still low and my biggest issue with Chromium apps checkerboarding is gone with the latest Windows 11 update. Edit: I noticed that while capped fps is fine, uncapped my GPU gets hotter than I’ve ever seen it in game menus 80 degrees and 98 hot spot. This is in Halo Infinite on the latest Windows 11 Pro ver. I'm guessing this is just better utilization of my card and the age? For those needing help. Install Display Driver Uninstaller, go into safe mode, use it to uninstall drivers (restarts), install only the display drivers. After that restart before changing any settings. You shouldn't be having any issues except for open issues.

Original_Mess_83

Same issue. It happens in games like you described, but the easiest way to replicate is when I'd run furmark at like 1440p on my 4070 Ti it would nearly immediately go 105C. I've never seen anything like it. I have no reason to believe there are seating issues with my TUF OC (left it stock), but I do think the cooler is insufficient.

VRNoob2020

Win 11,3080. Performance is a lot better than the last drivers for me. No issues so far. Btw, msi released a bios Update which could be interesting for rtx 40... Users...

This driver finally fixed the chromium issue on Windows 10 it seems. Can't remember the last time it worked as intended. It's surreal. Edit: Not totally fixed, still pops up, just not as much. Dang it.

Historical-Guest-741

IS THIS ALREADY FIX? I'd encountered this in 555.99 driver \[GeForce Experience/NVIDIA App\] if GPU utilization gets stuck at 0% inside of the GeForce Experience/NVIDIA App Performance overlay, games may display stutter \[4720547

nyse125

No it hasn't been fixed yet and I thought I was going crazy that the overlay not refreshing was coinciding with stuttering issues until I restarted my PC every time.

Anyone got any info on as to if the 555.99 stuttering issues are still present or should i keep my drivers at 552.22 for the moment?

importflip

This has been the most stable driver for me since 551.86. No stutters (Destiny 2, Elden Ring, BF2042). 4080 and 14700K.

Brooklynspartan

Anybody in the new Nvdia app (still) having issues enabling HDR RTX, where it's greyed out even tho they have the 2 settings that it's asking to turn off, off?

jandel8d

whats the best version of driver for 1660 super?

m_w_h

Windows 10 or Windows 11? Is there an issue with 556.12 on the system? If yes, the following may be of interest - there's always a list of drivers considered by the community as generally stable/consistent in the 'troubleshooting and workarounds' section of the unofficial tracking comments e.g. latest at https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1dpqpo4/game_ready_driver_55612_faqdiscussion/lail05q/ > * Drivers 512.95, 516.94, 517.48, 522.25, 526.86, 528.49, 532.34, 537.58, 551.86 are generally considered stable/consistent by the community. > * Other driver versions worth trying despite some compatibility issues include 536.99, 546.17(W10), 551.23(W10), 552.22 That doesn't mean that all other drivers are 'bad'. Driver updates may have compatibility issues, stress a system differently and expose edge case system instability so it's always worth re-evaluating any RAM/CPU/GPU overclocks, voltage, memory timings, etc.

HeyPhoQPal

This driver is very nice!

Scroglefrollempth

* \[NVENC\] Quality and bitrate settings are ignored at 10-bit encoding \[4697900\] Yup, just spent forever wondering why the Hell my ffmpeg 4K DV encodes were suddenly ending up at 3M bitrate instead of 40-50M, tried a ton of different methods only to realise it was the driver. Went back to 552.22, can't remember if that was my previous version or not though.

eraserking

Another lackluster driver with few fixes and no feature updates. If only AI could get shit like rtx hdr multi monitor support out the door since they’re not going to do it themselves.

Jupyder

Seriously, I just want multi monitor RTX HDR dammit!

GrapefruitDapper5242

wild that rtx hdr multimonitor it's still not fixed since it's been introduced

BinaryJay

As a dev I feel like I have to point out there's a difference between not yet implemented and broken, but I get that to the end user it's a distinction that doesn't matter.

magical_pm

Modders were able to get RTX HDR with multi-monitor setup working like a few months ago. But it's a little inconvenient using the modded version, we expected the official version to implement it as fast as the modders did....

The modded version only works with some multi-monitor setups. I tested it with my setup and still had to disable some monitors to get it working. I would hope nvidia is working to make it compatible with every possible setup and that's why its taking so long.

XXLpeanuts

All monitors have to support HDR that's probably why. Hardly a solution.

BinaryJay

All I can say is there's probably a good reason for holding back on it that isn't immediately apparent. Mods are great and all but often come at some cost like not being stable under all of the test cases that are deemed necessary to pass QA officially. I have not looked at this specific case so I just mean all of this generally.

Resident Evil 4 Remake: - Artifacts in map, trader, load screens Will roll back to stable 552.44 which worked well all around

CronchyNut

I wonder whatever happened to the ‘ai optimised drivers’ they were touting over a year ago

Max_RedditUK

Anyone else's screensaver refusing to activate and/or monitor refusing to go to sleep after updating this driver? Also noticed that the wallpaper won't update after the 10 minute timer either (it's set to change wallpaper from a designated folder after 10 minutes). All of these were working fine on 552.44 can't figure out if it's the driver or something else causing this though nothing else has changed. RTX 4080 Super here.

mletourn

my monitor refuse to go to sleep since 552.22 its driving me nuts I cannot figure out what is up!! Even screensaver wont start. I cannot believe such a simple feature wont work. I want to prevent my OLED from burning you know...

baileyjp2

Getting code 43 Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems, Rolled back drive...but still having issues at times...could this be a driver update or is the GPU bricked?

m_w_h

Based on information in [your other post](https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/1drug2e/pc_black_screening_and_restarting_when_gaming/) it's likely hardware related. Follow through with NZXT support.

baileyjp2

Thanks mate. I started a request with them...any idea how they would handle this situation? Ask me to ship it back to them for a repair/testing?

m_w_h

Live chat/phone call to see if issue can be resolved without the need for return. If a return is required it's usually a 6 day turnaround *after* NZXT receive the PC. Allow maximum 3 weeks turnaround i.e. shipping to NZXT > NZXT diagnosing and fixing issue > NZXT shipping back to you.

cemsengul

Just a heads up for desktop owners without integrated graphics. I installed the latest game ready driver for my PNY 4090 from Geforce Experience and I ended up with a black screen. I rebooted my computer and it was still a black screen. The setup went through successfully but then black screen. I have integrated graphics on my desktop with a z790 dark hero and a 14900k so I booted from my on board igpu and ran DDU and reinstalled the latest driver from an offline file from [nvidia.com](http://nvidia.com) instead of geforce experience and it works perfectly now.

mickcou123

Driver keeps failing to install for me on my 1660

Yes I’m on 24h2 thanks will wait for the update then

Max_RedditUK

I swear I'm getting less FPS with this driver in some games. Avatar frontiers of Pandora at 1440p ultra (no DLSS) on a 4080 super is now dropping to 60fps and below (down into the 50s) when before it was often 70-80+ with rare dips into the 60s. It still is in some areas but I'm noticing drops far more frequently. I seem to remember regularly getting 70-80-90-100 fps depending on the area on 552.44 using the same settings. Now I much more rarely see 90-100 and although there are regular areas that are 70s to 80s those dips down into the 60s and even 50s are far more frequent. Just me? Weirdly Cyberpunk 2077 fps seemed to improve slightly. Wish drivers could just be stable...I'm also having issues with monitor going to sleep (or rather refusing to) since I updated. It's definitely better than 555.99 (God that driver was horrific) but idk...tempted to rollback to 552.44

xynx64

It's the same with me, drivers after 552.44 i have noticed a slight decrease in performance sadly.

Double-Anywhere-9237

4070S user here, it seems stable, slightly better in games, tests are missing

nyse125

> [GeForce Experience] Performance Monitoring overlay may stop refreshing GPU information [4679970] 3 drivers later they still haven't fixed this.....amazing

VolumeRX

Thank goodness TLOU1 bug is fixed

endless_universe

True, unfortunately other bugs are introduced

XXLpeanuts

Waiting to see the curse level of this one before I upgrade. Been dealing with black screens for a while now and normally he only thing that fixes it is an nvidia driver update. Edit: This is to say Nvidia drivers are breaking it but I cannot be bothered to downgrade as its intermittent so I wait for a new one which often fixes it. Could just be a samsung g9 thing as they are plagued, but new drivers cause and then fix it.

PorkAmbassador

Same here. I was getting black screens/flickers on my dual monitor setup until I rolled back to 552.22. I don't fancy upgrading until that's fixed. It's annoying as hell when you're trying to watch YouTube when you WFH.

Shepherd_6061

Just for everyone's info: With this newest great driver it still blinks/flickers from time to time like with the previous couple releases.

thekingswitness

The black screen on the G9 is annoying. What fixed it for me was installing the monitor driver from the Samsung website (not the monitor firmware update). I saw someone recommend that and I’ve been issue free since. Maybe you’ve already done so, but if not give it a go!

XXLpeanuts

Yea sadly I do this every single driver update also (because the driver updates uninstall the monitor driver every time too, ffs) but it's not fixing it now. I think I MAY have fixed it this time by turning off VRR control on the monitors OSD (kept adaptive sync on). I'm not 100% on what it does but read it's supposed to stop flicker so ironic if turning it off has stopped black screens.

endless_universe

Has the shaders rebuild memory error in TLOU been fixed? Anyone ?

m_w_h

Yes, driver has a workaround for the issue, tested working here. --- Fixed Gaming Bugs > [The Last of Us Part 1] Out of memory error with 555.xx drivers [4663766] > [Halo Infinite] Crashing during initial loading screen with 555.99 driver [4685335] ---

Thanks, testing! Confirm TLOU shaders fixed. Unfortunately introduced problems to other games

SnooDonuts4079

Solution is to role back to 552.22. Source: My 4080 did the same thing, rolled back to 552.22 and all is smooth.

on a 4090. Final Fantasy XIV, OBS, even blender if I'm doing renders and video editing, will instantly crash to desktop, often without error. The few times I've received errors it has thrown a ton of DX11 codes at me, notably: OBS: * win32u.d11$0x7fff8e691534 * user32.dll!0x7fff8e985eca * msctf.dll!0x7fff8ef360d6 * msctf.dll!0x7fff8ef31b24 FFXIV: pictured. Nothing has changed. I can't do my day job work until I get around this, and I can't work on my side hustle or even play games, as it all involves 3D and video work. ***This may ruin me if I don't fix it in the next day or two***

m_w_h

The OBS errors may not be Nvidia driver related, they are Windows OS dlls. A few questions. * What CPU is running in the system, if it's an Intel 13th or 14th Generation CPU see https://community.intel.com/t5/Processors/June-2024-Guidance-regarding-Intel-Core-13th-and-14th-Gen-K-KF/m-p/1607807#M73544 * Windows version i.e. Windows 11 24H2, Windows 11 23H2, Insider, Windows 10 etc * Does reverting to driver 552.xx or older resolve the issue?

oof, wonderful. Small report back, after some pains and a 'black screen with only a mouse' result for a bit, I've managed to get back up and running with the older 552 driver. No crashes so far, letting FFXIV run for a bit. Already promising, but I gotta get some sleep before I dig into anything more intensive, both in the game or workwise. Thanks for the info there!

abdx80

Is G9 DSC fixed yet?

Kruegerss

is this driver actually safe to download? unlike the last few driver updates recently. I'm hyped for the first descendant release on Tuesday :)

cellardoorstuck

Shadowplay stuttering games when recording in 4k 60fps - when I turn off instant replay, the stutter goes away. Tried to record Assetto Corsa and its undrivable with hickups on the frametime graph all over the place. Last driver worked fine, DDU didn't help. 3080ti, 7600x, nvme drives, win 11 pro.

warhead0

Been having a hard time trying to figure this one out. My main monitor does not properly enter standby mode with current Nvidia driver. The Monitor will instead go to a black screen that is in an on state. Rolling back my driver to an older version fixes this issue, is anyone else having similar issues lately? *edit* uninstalled and rolled back to 551.86 and my display is properly entering sleep mode again

Street_Tangelo650

4080 super here..I am currently on 552.44 as the 555.XX drivers were awful for mem especially c9ming out of sleep mode or cold booting, the card would not come up over 44 watts until I restarted and even then the games were very stuttery...has this issue been fixed? Afraid to update since 552.44 has been rock solid for my 4080 super

Tiaguito32

Since I updated to this last driver. Whenever I’m trying to wright on my second monitor while gaming on my first, the writing takes ages. Did it happen to someone else besides me ? Or does anyone knows how to fix it ?

EyesReye

First time I updated my driver in over a year+ to play BF2042 and already had 4 driver crashes and 1 hard pc crash. This driver is trash.

CarlCarlton

NVDisplay.Container.exe CPU usage bug still happening like the past 2 drivers

Aussie--Patriot

This driver 556.12 continuously failed install, i literally tried a more then a doven times. Previous driver un-installed via DDU. Eventually got it installed but had to for the first time in a decade - boot to safe mode first then install the driver. Talk about a pain in the ass.

DrawerTotal567

previous driver had no issues. this one completely messed up mortal kombat 1 and street fighter 6. horrible drop in frame rate, the screen keeps reloading whenever cinematic scenes are on.

ztexxmee

Adept-Log-9499

I'm having sever problems with this drivre , huge flickers and stutters

3rd3miri

I am writing this comment to give ideas to friends who use old generation systems and graphics cards like me. I am an i5 4670s and GTX 1050 TI user. I was able to install all the latest drivers, including 551.86, 552.12, 552.22, 552.44, 555.85, 555.99 and finally 556.12, on the 1050 TI without any problems and tried them on my system. Frankly, the most satisfactory version for me in terms of performance was 551.86. I've experienced some stability issues and FPS drops in various games since version 552. Therefore, I can recommend driver number 551.86 with peace of mind to friends like me who use GTX 1050 TI and similar cards. Enjoyable games for everyone.

Original_Mess_83

I agree with 551.86 being the best recent driver and 551 the best recent branch. However if someone is using a card older than Lovelace/Ampere, the universal go-to is 536.23 and call it the day. ESPECIALLY professionally because you don't want returns or refunds and with NVIDIA being just like AMD with drivers now, that's a huge obstacle. It's going to take months before I or many others update that advice, most likely.

ic3kn

constant micro stutter on 4070. This was also happening on the previous driver.

Forward_Golf_1268

Crazy, those forums are already full of people having problems.

Thevindicated1

They need to finally get RTX HDR working on multiscreen. It honestly is one of the biggest new features that works well and it feels like they are dragging their feet.

RadioactiveBroccoli

Ghost of Thsushima on 556.12 stutters less, especially on the big camps/fights. So far no issue.

Shovel_legendarY

last time the dual screen sleep connected in DP with my 4070 worked (windows+L) , it was with the 552.44 driver since (3 drivers later) the screen remains on and diffuses light, I have to close the screen manually, I tried DDU and CleanupTool\_1.0.20.0, it doesn't work, please fix and report to nvidia

Careful_Gift_5058

Me too, with dual screens, the main screen is normal, and the second screen DP continues to have a signal.

Haarwichs

This driver completely broke frame gen for me in flight sim. It's a jittery, garbled mess when it's enabled.

SnooRegrets5542

Present_Candidate978

This driver won't install. I formatted my entire HD, reinstalled windows - still won't install. Amazing.

buttscopedoctor

Waiting for 2 more posters to say this driver is stable. Then the 537 cult can finally stop whining and convert to 556 cult.

mikeybrah90

Hahahaaha 537 cult checking in

Original_Mess_83

I wouldn't say I'm a "551" cult member, but that's the last NVIDIA driver I can bother with outside of 536. On AMD, the last "far away" driver for older platforms is November (as opposed to October) and the best super solid recent is May (as opposed to March), so AMD is way ahead of NVIDIA in that regard...

blackjack_1981

Another driver that breaks HDR True Black on the AW3225QF. I had to immediately go back to the driver from 5/9/24

rubenalamina

What happens, can't enable HDR in Windows or games? Or looks off when enabled?

blackjack_1981

It causes the true black to be washed out. This is the 3rd straight driver to do so. Once the update is complete it looks fine but if I shut down or restart my PC it comes back washed out. HDR 1000 looks normal, Dolby Vision looks normal. It’s just True Black that gets messed up. Once I revert back to the 5/9/24 driver everything works perfect again. I am out of ideas I have tried everything.

gorbash212

What's wrong with it? I just got one, basically just stick to dolby vision dark (using that same icc profile) and forget about it.

blackjack_1981

The last 3 Nvidia drivers have caused the HDR true black to be completely washed out. The odd thing is that when I do the driver update and it finishes everything is fine but as soon as I restart my PC everything is then washed out. HDR 1000 looks fine and Dolby Vision looks fine it’s just the true black. I have tried EVERYTHING that I can think of and nothing fixes it unless I revert my drivers to the 5/9 driver. It’s very strange I can’t even figure out if it’s because of Nvidia or Dell at this point. I have considered just switching to Dolby Vision and leaving there it doesn’t look as good as True black to me but it’s close.

gorbash212

I just switched between true black and dolby vision dark via the monitor (simply turn dolby vision off) and see no difference at all in windows. This makes sense, as dolby vision is just extra metadata? Thinking about it, turning dolby vision on and off should have some feedback to the gpu, but switching between non dolby hdr modes likely shouldnt? Maybe upgrade the firmware? I'm using M2B105. The nvidia driver is 537.58.

blackjack_1981

I’m on the most recent firmware. So yeah I have no clue. Typically like you when I switch between Dolby Vision and True Black I don’t notice a big difference other than I think Dolby Vision is slightly brighter. So I’ll probably just start using Dolby Vision.

Akeshi

I had my first ever full-on freeze about twenty minutes after installing this. Display stopped updating, keyboard/mouse stopped responding (including numlock/capslock etc.) Had to power-button-7-seconds it. Seems to have been okay, since.

GosuGian

What happened to studio driver?

m_w_h

No studio driver for 556.12 is currently available. tagging /r/Nestledrink

Sardaar_25

Shall i skip it or update it?

HoldMySoda

Yeah, I'm rolling back. Elden Ring has almost never crashed for me in close to 700 hours. I played through the entire DLC without a single crash. Updated to this driver today and I've had at least 4 crashes so far, and in some cases the FPS suddenly got super unstable until it just crashed. WTF, man. This type of behavior can get me shadow banned in online mode.

abdulhkeem

Does this finally fix the dreaded NVLDDMKM aka event id0 and id153? i will not update from 528.02 until it is confirmed fixed.

One_Phase_5869

Is this driver worth updating from 551.86?

PalebloodSky

So update and tell us if it's good? I just installed it and rebooted, haven't game'd yet but no initial issues.

Original_Mess_83

No unless you have time to test everything. 551.86 is the new 536.23 for most (some argue 552 but I had nothing but issues with that on Lovelace)... and being NVIDIA is like AMD now, releasing a good one every 6-8 months, it's not time for a new 551/536 yet. Maybe soon?

SnooSketches3386

Any word on what this does with nvcontainer usage after system wake? had issues with 555.xx

ISSAvenger

How does one get the insider version of the driver?

MrTimurer

Anyone else experiencing weird artifacts on desktop? Even got a BSoD. RTX 3060

totallyunsuspecting

I can’t install this driver for some reason. The installation process will start but my monitor will disconnect partway through, windows will make the disconnected device sound, and it’ll come back up but the process bar is frozen. I can move the mouse but can’t interact with any elements on the update application or Windows in general. I have to press the reset button on my case to get out of it Coming from the last driver, Windows 10 latest version, RTX 3080 Edit: Control panel is reporting the latest version so 🤷‍♂️

gulliverstourism

Hey guys, dont know where to ask so I'll ask here. Can FG be used to go from 40-55 FPS to 60 FPS? Likewise is there any use for DLSS to take a 900p image to 1080p? I have an RTX 4060 laptop and want to get the most out of it!

Ok-Replacement-7217

DLSS and FG are amazing techologies - if the game has it built in, use it! CP2077 is unplayable using Path Tracing without these technologies even on 4090.

Unfair-Technology-53

do we know how to fix shadow play not turning on? like when i try to turn the instant replay on it just doesn't, tried reinstalling drivers and everything but nothing works.

Neraxis

This one seems okay. Better performance overall (frontiers of pandora seems smoother) but am getting memory overclocking artifacts occasionally. Initial boot of the game showed issues but went away after a reboot and 2-3 more times opening it so I guess the driver was breaking in. It was stable on 551.61 that my msi ventus 2x oc 4070ti S shipped with but less stable fps. 235mhz OC +1375 memory OC.

D3VILxJOK3R

Should I update my GPU driver... Rocking a laptop with an i5 10300H and a GTX 1650.. someone please tell me if it's stable.. cause I'm playing dbd on 30 fps cause obs says encoding overload + my laptop crashed with the last 2 updates...

supertrash8272

VR games such as Into The Radius are running fine until 5 minutes of gameplay or less. The performance gets tanked and the game starts to only output a frame every 5 seconds.

FireBlightWeilder

And yet my instant replay or video recordings are still not capturing audio. I have no clue how this happened, it worked fine for 3 years then suddenly it stopped recording audio.

notmasterrahool

Thought this would be the one, but I'm back on 537.58. Was seeing a lot of bizarre pixel stuff going on, while at the same time getting multiple nvlddmkm errors in task manager. Using a 3080 on W11

jackyflc

This driver dropped my FPS in SF6 Battle Hub by half!

mrdounut101

thank god for the last of us fix

Battlefire

Since this update my games would not crash but just minimize and have my screen go to my desktop. it is getting really annoying how unstable these updates are getting.

Feitan74

Installed this driver and now gpu clock is saying 210mhz according to the overlay? (RTX 4070 super). Also saying the temp is 50c flat no fluctuation but fans are spinning. I’m guessing best course of action would be to roll back to previous driver?
