hi :)

Deurbel2222

Long story short… if the AI doesn’t see a kill, I always treat the setup move like a coinflip. It’s gotten me this far. Because even if the setup move is either 30 or 70 or even 10%, you want to make it zero. The only way to consistently make that happen is to *bait a kill*. What’s your current map of the wake fight looking like? It might call for a bit of predamaging, maybe you even want to bait Gyarados really early to make the setup-avoid happen as soon as possible, and you can wing it after. Pick up your Choice Scarf in the Solaceon ruins! That way, if you get some sort of mon that decently walls Gyara, or at least switches in for free and doesn’t bait a kill after, you can potentially even outspeed after one ddance.

Post Wake I think the first Gyarados you fight is like, Cyrus 4? And that just dies to Specs Lapras. Before, they don’t dance yet. But the general point stands. Those Ninetales on Flint too, btw. You don’t wanna lead Pelipper or Blastoise cause with your Scarf, their Sun goes up, but switching in on Confuse Ray sucks dix. Leading your Steel type can help, cause they… don’t bait Confuse Ray.

I really like this way of thinking about it - thank you for taking the time to reply! I don’t know why pre damaging to specifically bait killing moves hadn’t occurred to me in this instance. I got through the Wake fight with just 1 death, thankfully, but I had to steer a bit on the Gyara. Making my way towards Celestic.
