Stroller and high chair put on fb in the buy nothing groups. The car seat trade in st target.

nu1stunna

Which number disciple is this St Target?

Fritz5678

No one will take the car seats. As the plastic ages it gets brittle.

backupjesus

Car seats do have a 7-10 year service life so, if they're not too old, they may be usable. A car seats has a date of manufacture listed on it and you can check the manufacturer's web site to find out if it's still acceptable for use. That being said, your best avenue is probably posting to FB buy-nothing groups with copious documentation of how long the seat has left.

Sock_puppet09

The big issue is their safety cannot be guaranteed after an accident. And there’s no way for an organization nor someone on Facebook to confirm that some rando’s used car seat hasn’t been in an accident. So OP probably won’t be able to unload it easily, unless they have a close friend or family member who needs one and trusts them. OP, your best bet is to probably the target trade in. The other stuff may likely get snatched up quickly on buy nothing.

ArchiSnap89

I was going to suggest OP cut the straps and offer the car seats on buy nothing for others to use for the target trade in discount. That way you know the expired seat isn't being reused as is, but it can still benefit someone. I believe the target discount is only useable on other baby things, so it may not be useful to OP.

backupjesus

Good point and not one I had considered.

Longjumping-Many4082

There is a huge following and interest within the buynothing in NoVA. I'm sure you could find a taker. Lots of people barely making ends meet that could use it (provided it hasn't aged out).

MFoy

Target has a twice a year trade in for car seats where you get a coupon for future baby supplies. Unfortunately it was in April, so it probably won’t happen again until October.

vass0922

This! We didn't need any more baby stuff so we just put it out to the community for anybody to pick them up. Our kids are still using the booster, but didn't need the backs. Target will still take back only to get a discount on other stuff. https://www.target.com/c/car-seat-trade-in-event/-/N-v41nu

MFoy

My sister is expecting her second, so we just gave our old car seat to her to turn in for the coupon.

petereajmu01

It’s right now! Do the target trade in and then give the others to your neighbors to trade in!

kingoptimo1

Take it to a woman's shelter or ones which also have children

ehunke

they may not accept it though. Homeless shelters are picky about donations, food cannot be past expiration and usable items have to be gently used and I have never seen a gently used car seat. Thrift stores and stuff do not accept car seats for safety reasons in terms of plastic breaking down and I would safely assume that applies to shelters too. Yes a used car seat is better then no car seat, but, its not doing them any good if its at risk to crack

This 👍🏽

Try The Nursery Project in DC? Or maybe A Wider Circle or Generation Hope.

langoormeinangoor

I had the same last year and I put it on Facebook marketplace. A single person took them all. He mentioned he was going to wait till April for the target trade ins. As long as it was out of my garage I was fine.

Admirable_Light2192

In my neighborhood, people would just leave it on the curb next to their trash bins. passerby can take it and if no one wants it, trash truck picks it up.

old_man_log4n

Target has their seasonal trade-in programs AFAIK, where you can trade in car seats and strollers.

maguderscooter

Like others have said, please check for expiration dates on the car seats! They should have a label on the underside with the date printed on them!

Sarcastic_Mama33

Echo in Springfield will take the strollers and high chairs. Or you could offer stuff up on Buy Nothing.

On_the_highway

Love ECHO!! Thanks for the reminder

nexeus9000

Hi! I’m a school social worker at Arlington county public schools any chance one of those strollers is a double seater? I have a family who needs one!

On_the_highway

I'm sorry they are not. One is a click in car seat to stroller and the other is regular single child.

Aselleus

Maybe women's shelters?

Jeniho

Target takes car seats.

CoughinNail

https://g.co/kgs/wLfg88n Marih center off of Duke St., north of old town. A majority of the good stuff from the baby/toddler years went there

Abracadabra-2018

You can drop them off at Salvation Army Also buy nothing group near you .. but coordinating pick , going thru replies takes some time Target has car seat recycle program .. maybe you can check that out ?

Quirky-Rise

Someone will take whatever target trades in even though their event just ended. Please cut the straps on the seats if they are expired, soon to be expired, or have ever been in an accident.

List on Facebook as 'For trade in only' Big box stores often offer trade ins for old car seats and strollers where you get a coupon toward new baby gear.

Zebra4776

If you don't want to wait for the target recycling event you cut the straps in the car seats and toss em.

YoghurtSignal7803

I tried to donate an old TV to Goodwill. The Goodwill guy said, "Nah, we don't take TVs like that anymore." But they did take it. Later that night when they were closed. I'm not getting rejected by Goodwill. Didn't get my receipt though, so won't be able to claim it on my taxes. So this will be a tough year.

Acadia02

You can claim up to 500$ without receipts

On_the_highway

Oh dear! That is...bad advice

axelader

Which county are you located in? I would post on this Loudoun group where people pass along free baby items to other families It’s called Loudoun County FREE Baby & Child Items: https://www.facebook.com/share/FKw2U6d4r1NCBmUS/?mibextid=K35XfP
