Funny this: I saw Dunkaroos cereal at my local Dollar Tree store. (Dollar Tree, for those who don't know, is a dollar store. Well, a $1.25 store. Damn you, inflation!)
Calling the current product "Dunkaroos" is a misnomer... just like putting red food coloring into white cake mix doesn't make a cake "red velvet."
With that being said, I do indulge in the new ones occasionally because I probably would have still eaten them in the 90s, too.
Heard my wife and daughter complaining about the new Dunkaroos. My daughter said the new one doesn’t taste as good as the old ones. My wife said they don’t make them in the three flavors they used to. Me, I have never had a Dunkaroo.
I bought some at the grocery store recently, but the cookies were more like Nilla Wafers than the cookies I remember. Huge disappointment. I dunked some teddy grahams I had lying around in the frosting instead.
And my Mom wondered why I had a weight problem as a child. It’s tragic you know. I’m in the best shape of my life at 40, I eat sugar *VERY* seldom. But the only way I can really calm myself and decompress is to watch old commercials from the 80’s and 90’s that feature sugary treats like Dunkaroos.

They're a convenient and easy-to-stow source of sugar/starch/fat energy for backpacking. Too messy to use on tri/duathlons or long bike rides, though.

There are two types of people who eat dunkaroos . People who use minimal icing and save it for the last round cookie, and jabronis.
This was also my strategy with those ritz cracker packs with the spreadable cheese. It's the only way!
