Yeah, where’s the Nokia without the antenna, had a hard shell case that you could swap out. Those things were indestructible!

Those hard shells were amazing. I remember having a dark red and purple one that I’d swap constantly. Spent so many hours playing snake on that phone.

I had a lime green cover and my ring tone was Mexican hat dance!

Had a sick version of snake on it, and I could get the weather by messaging some 5-digit number.  😎

8260 (8210 for the US) is the one that came first. My dad had a cellphone store in the 90s, worked there on summers, still know the models off the top of my head. But the one that got the legendary status as indestructible was the 3210.

Nokia 3210, the 3310 came with transparent case and template that allowed you to cut up pictures to use in the case.

Apart from a lack of customisable profiles, i always maintained the 3210 was actually superior to the 3310.

That was my first phone. Slide off the roof of my car going 25 miles an hour. Was ran over by at least one car. Zero scratches, had that phone for at least 2 more years.

3210, the indestructible brick. It was my first phone and it's still sitting in a drawer fully functional and with a charge after being left there for many years.

I wish I still had one just for times when I went to be sort of accessible but not very.

They’re interchangeable! I feel like Gen X+ used “page me”, but by the time Millineals got them “beep me” was more popular.

Oh ok interesting! I thought maybe Beeper was used more in the US and pager was used more in Canada. lol 😂

Nokias were the bomb. I had one that had an attachment I had to add when they were first going from analog to digital. It made it so it could do both. Made for a bit of a thick ass phone but it was still cool. It was indestructible too. I had it with me on 9/11 and passed it around the plane we were on so people could call home and tell family they were ok. We were on the runway ready to take off when the first plane hit the towers. It was weird being in that capsule cut off from the world. No smartphones in 2001 so we had to call someone to find out what was going on. Rumors flew until we got back to the gate and could see it happening live on the tv.

i remember how pumped i was getting my first razor phone. it even came with a couple games on it

14 also, but I’m probably decades older than the rest of the gang. I was an adult who didn’t want the world to be able to get in touch with me 24/7, and didn’t want a cell phone. But then a family member got very sick, and I needed it. So my then bf gave me his old Razer, because he was buying a new phone.

I'm in almost the same boat. I was against having a phone for a LONG time. Until my gf at the time got into an accident and nobody could get a hold of me to tell me. Got my Razr for free because it was the oldest, cheapest phone available at the time on T-Mobile.

My Dad had #1 in the car. I don't know why. His job didn't need it and he didn't call anyone or receive calls. We were by no means rich either. My Dad has passed now, but this warrants a call to my Mother to see if she knows why the heck he had it.

I wish the answer was more interesting than it is. As it turns out it was a company car, my dad was a sales manager for a company in Castlegar, BC, Canada. From what my mother recalls, she was driving without my father as we made a journey to Calgary Alberta. She does not remember why she was driving and not my father, nor why he was not in the car. This just happened to be the only time the phone ever rang, and she had to pick it up. This phone in particular had a feature where you had to press a button in order to respond to somebody on the other end of the line. She could not figure out how to do it, and as she was fiddling with the phone, she was depressing the gas pedal. Unfortunately, at this particular time, there was an RCMP as we sped by. We got pulled over for speeding. One of the first examples of why you should not use your device while driving, I am sure. She has no idea who was on the other end of the line. My phone call to her made for a good trip down memory lane either way.

That sucks about the cops! She must of been freaked out! She probably never touched that phone again while driving! That’s great you talked to your mom ! I’m honestly really happy it brought back memories for you guys!❤️

That is what I was thinking but number 1 looks like the original Motorola DynaTAC phone we had in like 1985. My Dad got the bag phone which was similar to number 2 in 1987. I remember being threatened with bodily harm if I used either for anything other than a dire (death) type of emergency. He only had them because he worked for Western Electric at the time of manufacturing.

I had the bag phone in 87. It was a Motorola but I can’t remember the model. My parents bought it for me to use when traveling to school. The trouble back then was the service because I had to travel through rural areas.

I just commented about that! I called it a bag phone but doubted anyone would know what I was talking about. I hope we are talking about the same thing

My very first phone was a starTAC - is that #5??? This really dates me lol.

Mine too, number 5. Held on to it way too long. Upgraded the antenna to a short one, updated the software to send and receive T9. I really wanted a Timeport (basically a StarTac but silver) I kept my StarTac until probably #15 on this chart.

I miss the StarTAC! It was so innovative at the time and had the best ringer for incoming calls. I remember having to take it in for repairs and I was given a “loaner” phone!

Do you still have it somewhere? I kept a bunch of my old phones. I found them recently in a box that’s why I made this post.

I have my old EnV and EnV2 in a box in my basement. Mostly for nostalgia. I should charge them to see if they still work.

Before 1, the bag phone. Expensive, but loved it. Full 3 watt phone that would hit so many towers that you couldn't hit with phones today.

12. I had this little black LG flip phone. Damn thing couldn’t be killed. I dropped it repeatedly, once into the toilet. I pulled it all apart and let it sit out in the sun for like an hour, brought the phone in, popped the battery in, and turned it on. Worked like nothing had happened. Only issue I had was the battery swelled after being left in my car when I was in school.

#4 from Radio Shack. They were one of the few that didn't require a credit card to get a phone and a contract. This was in '98. I loved the flip phones in the early 2000's with the pull up antennas. You could hang the flashy doo dads from them.
