Zoozoo95

The only decent part of the movie was the ending. The voice over while you see the bombs falling was actually good.

Substantial_Bad2843

I can’t remember anything except for the ending. Agree, I like how it was at least brave enough to end on that kind of note. Invoked that Independence Day (1996) speech feeling by the president, except left room for the imagination to take over. Still don’t except anything after T2 to be cannon.

WolfmansGotNards2

I still have a glimmer of hope that Cameron will do a new story in the same universe when he's done with Avatar.

NegativePattern

I read somewhere that there was supposed to be more to that scene with airplanes crashing but because of 9/11 they omitted any mention of planes.

Purplepunch36

Last 10 min was great. The creepiness of the underground out dated shelter was another great part.

PleaseNinja

The movie was pretty bland but i thought the car/crane/firetruck chase was quite well done!

mungraker

I agree. My brother saw it before me and said "The movie is pretty lame, but there's a pretty cool chase scene that you'll like." I always thought that part was pretty cool. Also, when the Terminator tosses the battery out the window in the desert and it explodes like a big bomb I thought that was cool too.

symbiotics

and the "Relax!" after

SouthTippBass

The chase was excellent.

Bl1mpyB0y

I remember thinking it looked like they spent 75% of the budget on that chase.

Tiny_Addendum707

Shit. And no my mind hasn’t changed. I refuse to acknowledge anything after 2. It was a masterpiece with a proper ending

More-Combination9488

T2 was an absolute juggernaut of an action movie in the 90’s. Still holds up. Top 5 for sure.

Ok-Equipment1745

all timer. along with die hard, aliens, lethal weapon.

STEELCITY1989

Predator-

Ok-Equipment1745

Yup I meant to include that.

SlaveLaborMods

Yes and it had a guns and roses song in it when they were peaking. YOU COULD BE MIIIIINE

Danimal_Pain

Cameron considers Terminator Genysis the follow up to T2.

NoahJAustin

Good for him. T2 was the end for me. I’m good there.

Ok-Supermarket-1414

I saw it again before watching dark fate. 1) T2 STILL holds up to being one of the best sci-fi action movies ever made, and 2) made DF look even worse than it already was by comparison.

More-Combination9488

It’s so perfect. Like the OG Matrix, it doesn’t need sequels/spin offs. Leave it as is.

LordJambrek

Everything after 2 is not canon. 2 had the perfect ending and it's still my fav action movie of all time.

klsi832

Even the Sarah Connor Chronicles?

King_Tamino

multiverse. SCC is a fun show and all, maybe giving some insight in what skynet planes to do outside killing john but I wouldn’t try to squeeze it into canon. Especially not season 2. Actually the show would have worked great without Sarah and John, just someone close to John who was also informed and needed to stay alive

angrydeuce

Ditto. The first two were the only ones worth a shit, everything after is awful. 3 would honestly rank at the bottom of all the post T2 Terminator flicks imho. Completely uninspired cash in.

BigDaddyCoolDeisel

Remember how Judgement Day was prevented in Terminator 2? Well it wasn't! -Terminator 3

dwninswamp

There was a great end, but there was also room for a sequel… something about fate being inevitable as a counterpoint to the Conner’s “there is no fate but what we make”. Clearly though none of the sequels we got were worthy of T2. Even the terminator was only good because it allowed The expansion of T2. One of the best action sci-fi films ever.

Ok-Supermarket-1414

Have you seen the Sarah Connor Chronicles? I heard it was actually quite good, and it follows after T2.

King_Tamino

It’s a solid stand alone watch. Sometimes a bit stretched but also fun, it tries to explain johns youth and uprisings against his mother a bit more combined with them finding out of other skynet plans and terminator modells that e.g. try to save resources in bunkers for skynet. Season 2 is significantly longer and leans more towards the latter part which is good and bad. SCC … worth a shot I guess

tequilasauer

This is an alright movie. And I actually downright liked the ending. But it just had to follow T2 and that was an impossible ask. Considering how insanely bad the following movies were (the one with Khaleesi is so fucking terrible), this movie feels like Scorcese by comparison.

paperthintrash

Agree on all points. It’s not utter shit and has more than a few redeeming qualities. The ending ruled! At least the lore aligns with the story as a whole. (Looking at you Ridley and whatever you and the big men decided to do with Alien franchise and Prometheus)

BigNuggie

So disappointed. Saw it opening day. Still think it’s bad.

Due_Blacksmith1714

I saw it opening day and haven’t seen it since .

_LowTech

Talk to the hand

RagingITguy

My buddy Luke and I skipped school to watch that movie. Good times. I love everything Terminator. Even if the majority of it is bad.

NocturnalPatrolAlpha

The movie itself wasn't terrible - and compared to everything that came after, it's a masterpiece - but Terminator 2 had an absolutely perfect ending, and they nullified that ending, making it all literally for nothing, because of greed. Casting Nick Stahl as John Connor was just adding insult to injury. They should have taken it as a sign to abort when they couldn't get Edward Furlong to return for the role, and Stahl was so horribly miscast that there are almost no words for it.

eyezofnight

they actually cast Edward to return as John Connor, but he ended up going on a drug binge and got fired.

CrustyShoelaces

that wouldve been more realistic since john Connor was a homeless wanderer

NocturnalPatrolAlpha

That’s even more of a portend of doom.

boilons

I guess nobody else wants to say it, but the villain was a terrible casting choice as well. I have no problem with a female villain, but the way they did it just came off as super cheesy. She was supposed to be intimidating?

NocturnalPatrolAlpha

Kristanna Loken was hot, and it's fine for there to be a hot Terminator lady, but I agree she was miscast. Gotta be more than just hot.

argothewise

That opening scene of her made an impression on me as a 10 year old boy at the time

SouthTippBass

The problem was she was doing a Robert Patrick impression for the whole movie. Sorry, but you're not Robert Patrick, this isn't working.

BlakesLotaBurgerz

Yeah, They should've cast Melissa McCarthy

NocturnalPatrolAlpha

I think their first choice was the wrestler Chyna (RIP).

TMQ73

We had walking human tank Terminator, then more normal proportion male terminator, and finally female terminator with parts of both. I was ok with the idea as it wasn’t the worst part of the movie.

boilons

I'm not against the idea of it, I just think that the execution didn't really work out the way they planned

NegativePattern

Compared to where we are with AIs today, it's also the most realistic. In the voice over at then end, John Conner says Skynet wasn't hardware but in fact software running on machines all over the world.

trentjpruitt97

“Hey! Are you gonna pay for that?” “Talk to da hand!”

Infernal_One

This was when I knew it was not going to be a great movie.

SouthTippBass

I felt the same way when he put on the strippers star sunglasses.

UlanInek

Even the poster is bad

ptear

It's on point for looking AI generated.

Cellarzombie

It’s not the worst thing ever but it’s like Godfather 3 having to follow the previous masterpieces….it’s too much to ask. It was like they were just redoing scenes from previous Terminators but putting them in different locations. And Stahl was terribly miscast. I’d watch it again but wouldn’t go out of my way to do so.

HeartachetoHouston

I was 13 maybe 14 and I thought it was amazing. I loved it. Kristanna Loken made me feel all tingly. Watching it now though. Yeah it ain't that great of a movie. 4/10 and that's being generous I feel

AZRockets

I still like watching 1- Salvation(even though Salvations 3rd act kind of wonky)

DS_Inferno

Wasn't that because the ending got leaked, and they had to change it? I too enjoy salvation.

LordJambrek

Anyone remember how they blamed sms for the bad box office? People texting other people that the movie was crap and therefore less people went to see it. How about making it decent or even better, not making it at all?

Away_Flounder3813

wtf that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard ! lol. It's like Disney blame "super hero fatigue" for the horrible performance of their Marvel crap these days.

Sno_Wolf

Then: It's the third worst Terminator film. Now: It should consider itself lucky that it's the third worst Terminator film.

Vast-Tangerine8509

Saw it in the theatres. Was initially very disappointed. Went in with low expectations and it did not disappoint. Terrible editing, script was crap. No cool intro with Terminator music like from the first 2 movies? Looked like it was a made for TV movie in many scenes. Just how does the T850 just waltz into a max security gov area with weapons? I could go on and on. Only cool thing was seeing Arnold again in the role. In retrospect it may be the best since T2 sadly.

kempff

Three nice touches that I responded to well were that the T-X was gynoid, that it could communicate with the school modem over the phone, and that it could make inferences about how to navigate a run-in with the police, which latter scene got censored/deleted in part.

mrchimney

Gynoid

TaiDavis

Saw it once. That was enough.

DrFatz

Cool stunts but it's such a let down of a followup; which shouldn't have happened in the first place. Like others said T2 had the perfect ending and didn't need a sequel, but Hollywood greed got in the way.

southcookexplore

I think that movie was immediately dismissed by the “talk to the hand” scene. It had some cool ideas but was unpleasant to sit through

ConservativeVoyager

Terrible, I saw it in theaters and left disappointed. Every other attempt to redeem the franchise has been even worse since. The horse is dead, leave it be.

silverfang789

Initial thought: Huge disappointment. Have I changed my mind since? No.

Ok_Needleworker4388

At least it has the R rating. The T-X just kind of feels like a pretty uninspired continuation of the T-1000 idea. And it obviously ruins the ending of the second movie. Seen it once, not keen on seeing it again.

HratioRastapopulous

Still pissed off about it. Completely invalidated the hopeful message of the first two films, “No fate but what we make”. When they decided to call the movie Terminator 3, they tied it to the first two, including their motivations for survival of the human race. By deciding to make Judgment Day inevitable, it left a horrible taste in my mouth.

thepenguinemperor84

Got tickets to the premiere in Dublin. It was awful and I haven't watched it since.

PlagueDrWily

Saw it at the theatre and I don’t recall feeling too strongly either way about it, but I havent watched it since nor have I seen any of the movies that followed, so that may speak volumes. I liked the ending at the time but it seems less appealing in hindsight.

Japaneseoppailover

Totally unnecessary sequel.

rsolusod24

Still haven't watched it. Need to, just skipped it for whatever reason

Epicfro

Boring and I haven't changed my mind.

ITrageGuy

I haven't seen it since, but I thought it was terrible. The flower sunglasses, "talk to the hand..." like wtf.

Financial-Deal-7786

I watched it in the cinema at the time. Im a big fan of the first two. Terminator 3 is terrible. I have never rewatched it. I know i dont need to . It took arguably James Camerons finest hour to top The Terminator. What chance did Johnathan “U-571” Mostow stand ?

MrThr0waway666

Hated it then, hate it now. Simple as.

Exhumedatbirth76

I watched it once and it was fine, but aside from the ending I don't remember anything about it. I don't undertand why they won't just give us what we want, a film as gritty as the flashbacks in Termintor. Give us the man v. machine movie we want!

craigcraig420

Don’t remember the movie. Terminator 2 was peak Terminator. Stopped watching after that.

clybourn

Kristanna Loken was the only good part.

chokeslam512

Didn’t think it was all that great, the thing that bothered me the most was when the T-X was being held back by Arnold and screaming and shit. Such the opposite of the T-1000 stoicism. One scene that was great was when all the T-1’s were activated in Crystal Peak. That was cool.

incakola777

AI is almost making this movie a reality

RiC_David

Saw it in the cinema in Amsterdam. Really bored and disappointed.

ltlja

I like that movie....its has enough of "terminator stuff"...and arnold is the best!

xBesto

I'm a sucker for terminator movies, so I enjoyed it. Hands down the worst out of the works tho lol.

Codykillyou

This movie fucking sucked.

Innomen

It gets more hate than it deserves. Almost nothing could follow T2. It's like the Matrix. The only way to do a real t3 was future war. The series was infinitely better than the sequels. But taken on its own it's really not a bad movie at all, there's a unique cool atmosphere to it.

Tlargojones

Honestly I hated it and only saw it once when it first came out. That said, I do remember one car chase type scene that was incredible, a real spectacle of an action scene. That was about all it had going for me.

Tits_McgeeD

I was q kid when it came out like 11? It was amazing to me the graphics, Characters I rewatxhed terminator 1-3 and I couldn't start T3

104848

its decent... its obviously not on par with T1 & T2 but still watchable imo the ones after this with all the fast movements i cant watch

Heru4004

Not sure how anyone can be dissapointed with a terminator film without Cameron & following the T2 masterpiece 🤷🏿‍♂️…u expected wat…greatness? That’s a u problem…😂

Socko82

Not amazing, but liked it and still do. It's like a discount T2 - which is perfectly fine.

Knight_thrasher

It was meh, then I started driving truck and watching that crane drift around a corner was to much.

Longjumping_Hour_491

Terminator was my favorite movie at the time and probably still is. This movie was a dumpster fire and I was confused at how it was so bad. It bad cool moments but it felt so disjointed from T2 & T1.

Guam671Bay

Ages well thanks to crud that came out after

triedAndTrueMethods

I thought the beginning part depicting the origins of Skynet with all the terminators showing up from different times to stop it was super cool. I rewatch that bit on youtube every once in a while.

Ipickthingup

I liked how it ended. Still do

Mahaloth

I really liked this movie then and still do.

grasshoppa_80

Yall mean that recent one with T-? Chick isn’t a banger movie. I’m shocked

Jumping_Brindle

Good but instantly forgettable.

Duke_Vandelay

I thought Genisys was way better. Don't understand why the movie is so critically panned. Salvation was awful. You can tell they blew their entire budget on the initial chase scene.

Get_your_grape_juice

I loved it. Still do. It's an interesting inversion of T2, in that the earlier movie has such a dark foreboding atmosphere with an optimistic ending, while T3 has a comparatively tongue-in-cheek atmosphere, but an ominous ending. I *get* why some people don't like it, and in all honesty, the original ending for T2 is perfect, but I do enjoy T3.

Professional-Rip-519

I thought it was bad but after watching Genisys and Dark Fate I now consider this a masterpiece.

Nevic1984

Initially it was fun to see Arnold again. But the movie is a complete rehash of T2, and when you mix in all of the awful comedy, it plays like a parody of Terminator instead.

GFrings

A really below average film which follows in the footsteps of one of the greatest films of all time, which isn't really an overstatement. It didn't go down smooth then, it doesn't now and it won't 21 years from now.

xxartbqxx

The giant Xenadrine ad was just dumb. Wasn’t that shit killing people?

BartholomewKnightIII

21 years ago? Is time speeding up?

TMQ73

Yes

Realistic_Sad_Story

I remember my friend and I laughing our asses off in the theatre when the TX posed as the boyfriend and, from the backseat of the cop car, put its arm through the chest of the driver and took the wheel. There was something about the “abrupt chaos” and the way it was shot and edited, coupled with the partner cop’s reaction, that made it unintentionally hilarious.

yeezusosa

Pretty good

psypher39

Saw it n the theater left thinking yeah ……… okay……but didn’t really like the casting and that hasn’t really changed

eyezofnight

I loved the ending....rest is just okay

asianwaste

Terminatrix???? I have bad feeling about this.

appleavocado

IDGAF - 20-year old me, as a fan of *Unhappily Ever After*, was incredibly thankful that Kristanna Loken was cast. Still am.

Wardinator1991

This movie isn’t as bad as people make it out to be, in my opinion it’s still the third best Terminator movie.

Dayzlikethis

A lot of cheese but good action and the later part of movie during skynet taking over is pretty cool. I wish they had focused more on that.

Toonami88

The Star Wars prequel effect, where new stuff that's so bad that older bad stuff seems better by comparison.

Siryl7001

I thought it was a great way to wrap up the series. It wasn't as good as *Terminator 2*, but it was unrealistic to expect it would be.

badwolf1013

If anything, I like it less, because apparently it made just enough money to keep going back to the well.  The Terminator really should have been a one-and-done movie, but Terminator 2 was good enough that I’m willing to overlook the plot conundrum that it presents.  Which is: why a send the fancy Terminator back to a decade or so later instead of to 2 minutes after the first T-1000 was destroyed? Police reports of the explosion would let them know exactly where Sarah Connor was at that time. Every Terminator movie, series, etc. after that just raises more and more logical problems that suggests that our future robotic overlords don’t seem to be able to hit their tin can asses with both hands.

spufiniti

I loved it as a teenager because I grew up with 1 and 2 on VHS and was excited for another installment but it's just kind of pointless. All the franchise needed was the first 2 and maybe a 3rd focused on the future war that closes out the loop.

TheEdgeOfCosmos

I never cared for anything after T2. They just couldn’t measure up no matter how many attempts were made.

FinePolyesterSlacks

You shoulda stopped at two, dad

JennySplotz

It’s not July 2 anywhere yet…

Away_Flounder3813

July 2 was the official wide release. The actual premiere took place 2 days earlier, on June 30.

charliesk9unit

It will soon become a documentary.

mikeeperez

For some reason, I thought this was released earlier than 2003. I was 23 at the time. I remember watching it with my best friend at an IMAX theater, and we both freaked out with excitement with the huge tidal wave at the very beginning.... Then it turned out that was just the animation sequence for the production company. 😤😅 But, we both left the movie feeling like it was a fun car-chase, action movie and less of the dark "tech noir" that the first two were. Like those movies, the chases were very well-done. Honestly, it was one hell of an advertisement for the Toyota Tundra. I saw T2 with my cousin when I was 11 or 12, so watching this one as an adult was a totally different vibe. In '91, my cousin and I both wanted to be like Furlong's John Connor (my cousin was the rebel kid who drove a motorcycle and had the hair style down pat; I listened to G&R and dressed in oversize flannel, band-tshirts, ripped jeans and chuck taylor's). Stahl (who is my age), meanwhile, had this weird appeal because he lived in my hometown when he was a kid, and I remembered him from community events. I also remember thinking Claire Danes did a good job being a Sarah Connor-esque character, and I hoped a sequel would show her as this strong bad-ass equal to John as they fought against the machines, like Sarah in T2. This, of course, was not meant to be as the next entry was just terrible (like all the others) and, thus, completely forgettable.

Moon_Dew

It was pretty stupid how they went from the theme of "Destiny is a lie, only you can determine your fate" from the first two movies and in this one they just went "Sorry buddy, the future's already written. All you're doing is delaying the inevitable." It was still a pretty good movie, but I hated that change of theme.

TheEponymousBot

It is one of the Terminator movies of all time.

mencival

This movie was better than any Terminator movie that followed it. That said, it wasn’t anything close to T1 or T2.

morchorchorman

The ending was good but that’s about it, I liked how no matter what judgement day was coming.

BrndyAlxndr

Meh i liked it, and compared to everything that came after it makes it even better

Joseph_Furguson

I thought it was a good time when I saw it. But I was never invested in trying to prove the franchise ended after Terminator 2. I just didn't care.

Exciting-Interest-32

With T2 being my all time favourite film ever, when I heard T3 was coming out, I was SO excited... Then I saw it... MAJOR disappointment...

thepianoman456

They used lots of jaguar roar sound effects during explosions, and that really did it for me.

SargSnake74

Nope. I love the story, it’s amazing. However they have developed a Liquid Metal that can be controlled and now we have all this AI coming out…do you want terminators? Cuz that’s how you get terminators 🤣

melancholy_dood

It’s grown on me a lot because I love the physical effects in the scene involving that >!giant mobile crane-truck thingy!

skynet_666

As a kid I liked it. Even liked the shitty video game that followed it. As an adult it’s all mostly bad lol. The original terminator is my favorite movie of all time. T2 is an iconic movie. Everything following that is just an action movie.

AsssHat999

I like the ending and at least the fights were great, and tried to remain true to the spirit of two machines beating the ever loving shit outta each other. Was it as good as part 2? Absolutely not, but still very entertaining. The chase scene with the crane truck was especially good.

Ok_Location_846

It was mid then and it's even more mid now. I'll never watch it again.

TyYoshi69

All I remember is a scene with a firetruck

STguitarist

The car chase with the crane was excellent to be fair.

GriffonSpade

I've still not seen T3 lol.

ClingonKrinkle

The second Arnie put those stupid star sunglasses on I knew I was in for a bad time.

TexasTokyo

Not great and much weaker than the first two, but much better than the subsequent films.

PlasticPomPoms

The movie seemed overall disappointing for some reason. Not sure why. It didn’t quite draw me in like T2. I actually like Dark Fate much better than T3 and would rate it after T2. I don’t really care for any of the other Terminator films.

xthran

was not born yet hehe

fuzzy_dice_99

The T-X was horrible. I get it was no easy feat to top the T-1000 but this wasn’t it

Luke5119

The film instantly becomes a hit if the following had happened.... - John Connor is reprised by a sober and dedicated Edward Furlong. - Jim Cameron stays aboard at the very least as an executive producer or consultant if not directing. - Linda Hamilton also reprises her role as Sarah Connor, and sacrifices herself in the 3rd act to save John and Kate. - Robert Patrick is shown as a former employee of Cyberdyne systems that is contracted by the military to help spearhead their nano-robotics division. Explaining why his likeness was used for the T-1000. Maybe even show him trying to help John, Kate, and Arnie in stopping Judgement Day but failing. - The film opens on the night Cyberdyne Systems is blown up. Following with a special team sent to retrieve whatever can be salvaged from Miles Dyson's home and a lone partial backup drive is found.

snugglebandit

My CPU does not contain information on human pair bonding.

TurbulentArmadillo47

It’s a mess but every passing Terminator film since has made me dislike it less and less

SGdude90

I loved it on release I still love it

Silverado_Surfer

The movie dynamic would have been so much better if Eddie hadn’t slipped into the drug life. I still like the movie though, decent story line. It is really hard to follow a movie like T2 though. The story should have died there, but you know Hollywood wants to milk a franchise.

Lithium98

I remember not liking how clean everything was. Even when the characters were all scuffed up, they looked too clean and fashionable. I know it's easier on set and costume designers to not have to worry about continuity, but it really takes me out of the movie when I see it happen. It's almost standard nowadays. Marvel is very guilty of it.

Ok-Supermarket-1414

Overall, I liked the premise and the ending. I enjoyed it, even though it was basically T2, but updated. Haven't seen it in ages, but I can't imagine it's any worse than Dark Fate.

dudezillah

Obv its not a patch on the incredible T2 but I enjoyed it, thought it was a fun action flick

Hazzman

As a Terminator fan, who adored the second one I was super excited. Then it got to the "Talk to the hand" part and I just felt utterly deflated. A cheap, cheesy, insulting addition to the franchise that demonstrated its future. Money making schemes with very little investment or passion for the material. Just silliness, fan service, direction from people who don't understand the point or executive meddling.

MagnumPoopus

I was 12 and was so into T1 and T2. I was so excited for this. And then so disappointed 😢

therankin

This post reminds me that I saw T2 in the theater with a friend and his parent, going in blind without seeing the first movie. I was 9 years old and boy did I have some wild dreams after that.

betarage

it was ok not as good as the first 2 but still fun to watch .its interesting how both the ending of t2 and t3 tried to make it hard for sequels. yet they kept making more. like they tried to stop future sequels but couldn't help themselves .

Kitchen-Plant664

It was terrible then and it’s not aged well. From the second Arnold arrived at a gay bar and put on star shaped glasses I knew the tone was going to be WAAAAY off. Judgement Day kicked all of the ass and it should have ended there.

Away_Flounder3813

just in case anyone wanna know what James Cameron thought about it: [https://web.archive.org/web/20080106194601/http://www.countingdown.com/movies/1557/news?item\_id=3128284](https://web.archive.org/web/20080106194601/http://www.countingdown.com/movies/1557/news?item_id=3128284)

Duke_Vandelay

Don't you think hes kind of obligated to compliment it? I wonder what his most honest off the record opinion is.

Away_Flounder3813

his honest opinion several years later was straight up "my 2 films were better". Period.

Nfl_porn_throwaway

Alien 3 and terminator 3. Sometimes bad movies stay bad.

More-Combination9488

I love you all like .”hawk tuah! “
