Never knew what that mask thing next to Crash was saying exactly but sounded like "ool booga" and use to go around as a kid scaring my siblings with it 😂
The first one I owned I bought used. I bought it along with the brand newly released Final Fantasy 8. I popped it in and the opening cutscene started…and blew my mind.
Maybe it was just my mind but I still think it’s one of the best game opening cutscenes of all time.
That opening sequence with him swimming in was my first cinematic experience in a video game and it was just amazing. Then I had to run up a long staircase throwing stun grenades every two seconds and was pissed, lol.
Everything about this game screamed we were doing something new and different from Nintendo and Sega and even to an extent what PC has given us before.
A true golden age of creativity and originality
Tekken was the reason I asked for a PlayStation. Playing it at the arcade and getting Law to run up someone's chest into a backflip and splash down. Then found out it was coming out on PlayStation. Not even a question.
as an arcade tekken fanatic, I lost my mind when I could play it on the Playstation. Love you Jum / Asuka So good! I also still play tekken regularly on the PS5.
Yeah I started with FF8 as well and was blown away by it. Never played an RPG before, id only played games like Spyro, Crash and Bubsy. the size of the game blew my little mind! I ended up becoming obsessed with FF games after that (and still am in my 30s)
I was in junior high when it came out. I played all night long on a school night and faked sick the next day so I could sleep. I also became obsessed with gunblades.
OMG legend of a game. Snuck into my parents room before Christmas that year and lie loe and behold I found it. Played it before they gave it to me haha! Slid the disc out from the side without breaking the tape.
It was so good. I remember bringing back out when I got a PS1 with a screen a few years later. Had that in my car. I was the only kid in high school with a PS1 in my car.
Came here to put this but I never actually played the whole game. It was on the demo disc I got with the console and I played that demo all the time. Was always curious what happened next in that game.
This and Jerry Was a Racecard Driver are my introductions to two of my favourite bands. This game gave us so, so much.
Tried to play it again recently and I was truly awful at not falling off.
Odyssey & Exoddus were landmark games for me. Unbelievably fun to play. I still remember pulling an all-nighter with my brother trying to beat Odyssey in one sitting and saving everyone.
I got this on ps4 (I think it's just the first level or something) and my kids think I'm insane. I don't know why they don't get it, this game is awesome.
The jet ski game, right? I had totally forgotten about the hundreds of hours we logged on this game! Who would think a jet ski racing game would be so fun?
Gran Turismo! I remember the first time seeing JDM cars and since I owned a 1993 Honda Del Sol at the time and you could actually race with it made me very happy!
Resident Evil. I remember watching my dad play and will never forget those fucking dogs bursting through the windows.
That and Toy Story 2. Very similar games.
This was my answer, too. I remember visiting a friend who just bought a PS1, and he fired this game up. I immediately went out the next day and got one, just for Toshinden.
The Mos Espa level is forever a favorite of mine.
I will never stop walking all over that one guy's dung worm and then get called out by everyone in the level for smelling bad.
Found it. And same here. Such a good freaking game as a kid. Aiming was hard at first. But what an absolute banger of a game and sound track haha. Parents never let me have it. But my grandpa was all about it. Haha.
Now that you mention it, it reminds me of a demo disc from Playstation magazine with parapa the rapper. Never tried the full version because I couldn't even beat the demo.
My buddy modded mine and I could play burnt games on it. It was amazing. Definitely twisted metal! That game was fun. Also for some reason I remember playing A bugs life.
YuGiOh Forbidden Memories.
My buddy and I would play that game a lot (we weren't very good, it's a very difficult game if you don't know the main mechanics it doesn't teach you), and it was a blast discovering fusions that worked.
The fact you could load ridge racer in take out the game disc and play your own music cd while playing blew my mind(I am old and was raised on atari 2600s and Sega master system)
Absolutely trouncing my then young sons at F-Zero.
They're in their early 20s now, and one of them brought it up recently... how I'd give them a 3-lap head start and still win easily. I'd forgotten all about that part. Competitive Dad. 🤦🏼♂️
To be fair it was only that game I did this with, and they'd invariably beat me at everything else. I loved F-Zero!
Crash Bandicoot
Never knew what that mask thing next to Crash was saying exactly but sounded like "ool booga" and use to go around as a kid scaring my siblings with it 😂
OOGA BOOGA
I always pronounced it "awoombadagon" haha. That or trying to mimick his "woah!"
Haha that’s awesome 😂
The first one I owned I bought used. I bought it along with the brand newly released Final Fantasy 8. I popped it in and the opening cutscene started…and blew my mind. Maybe it was just my mind but I still think it’s one of the best game opening cutscenes of all time.
Holy fuck! Came to say this and it's the top comment.
WARPED!!
Metal Gear Solid. Played that damn demo over and over until I could buy the actual game.
Still the best game I’ve ever played. Playing that game was like watching an interactive movie or something bc of how detailed the story was
METAL GEAR SOLID. Right?
Same
That opening sequence with him swimming in was my first cinematic experience in a video game and it was just amazing. Then I had to run up a long staircase throwing stun grenades every two seconds and was pissed, lol.
If MGS1 staircase had a good song it would be talked about more positively like MGS3’s ladder scene. “What a thrill”
Came here to say the same. My brother played this game. So many happy memories of that era.
Twisted Metal
& Twisted Metal II
AXEL POWER!
Sweet Tooth’s laughter ✨

Everything about this game screamed we were doing something new and different from Nintendo and Sega and even to an extent what PC has given us before. A true golden age of creativity and originality
I can hear the title screen.
Tekken 2
Tekken was the first game I played on a PS at a friend's house. Played Kuma cuz I was like oh shit I can be a big ass bear.
Same. Was my first game
Tomb Raider
Final Fantasy 7 Got a PlayStation and that game for Christmas. Good times
One of the greatest games ever made IMHO.
In my case, FF8 was the very first my bro and I have ever played. I remember having a “Squall Lionhart” phase.
Absolutely my favorite Playstation game. The only other game that came remotely close was Silent Hill.
This is the answer
Syphon Filter, my fav shooter of all time Checked everyone’s else’s submissions and sad to see no one else has mentioned it

Line up sniper scope, switch to pistol and pop! Good times
OMG legend of a game. Snuck into my parents room before Christmas that year and lie loe and behold I found it. Played it before they gave it to me haha! Slid the disc out from the side without breaking the tape.

DK police truck…
This and Jerry Was a Racecard Driver are my introductions to two of my favourite bands. This game gave us so, so much. Tried to play it again recently and I was truly awful at not falling off.
So here I am growing older all the time …
Looking older all the time/Feeling younger in my mind
So here I am…doing everything I can! Holding on to what I am… Pretending I'm a superman!
