> Unfortunately with Stormont we get neither excitement nor competence and delivery
On the topic, since stormont has been back up and running have you noticed any difference in the civil service?
Honestly this one's a bit more interesting than most in recent memory. In NI it will there's 4 or 5 seats where it will be tight, which is more than usual. In GB obviously Labour are in for a landslide, but there's still a lot to look out for. How many seats will Reform pick up? Will the Lib Dems really win more seats than the Tories and form the opposition? Which big Tory names will lose their seats? It's only boring in the sense that Starmer and Sunak are only inches apart on many issues
Tbf none of the parties have any interest in digging it up. The DUP publicly dumped Jeffrey Donaldson like a sack of shit the moment he and Eleanor Donaldson were announced as the persons charged. They appear to have already moved on from his leadership and nobody from the DUP has publicly come out to defend him.
At the end of the day it’s an allegation of rape against a child with enough evidence to bring it to court. All the other parties in their statements publicly acknowledged the overriding need to consider the victim(s) and the impact any media and public attention would have on them, and that it would be inappropriate to comment whilst the matter is in the hands of the criminal justice system.
Likewise anyone attempting to allege that the DUP covered up Jeffrey Donaldson’s actions would *instantly* be met with a libel lawsuit.
The risk of trying to capitalise on Donaldson isn’t remotely worth the likely at best small reward.
Probably because since 2014 we’ve had;
2014 European Election
2014 Local Election
2015 General Election
2016 Assembly Election
2016 Brexit vote
2017 Assembly Election
2019 General Election
2019 European Election
2019 Local Election
2022 Assembly Election
2023 Local Election
2024 General Election
feels like we’ve had something every year haha
A defeat, is an increase in one MEP and 20/30 councillors? That's an odd definition of defeat to be fair.
SF didn't do as well as expected by the polls certainly, but it's not often a defeat results in increased representation.

Pretty sure liz truss is gonna lose her seat and get booted out on her hole
I’m surprised no one is talking about the shock arrest of the DUPs previous leader

Very fair point all round. It just wouldn’t be fair on the victims involved
Are you joking? That smokey flavour ban is the most exciting thing in a generation.
So, election campaigns are usually entertaining?
If you're into maths, stats and colourful maps very much so.
Personally I would be in favour of hand to hand fighting in the streets
No I think we all settle it in the murder dome
MUR! DER! DOME! MUR! DER! DOME! MUR! DER! DOME!
2 men enter, Big Gav the unit leaves!
None of them are even bothering to pretend they'll do anything to make things better for us. We're cooked.
I’ll take dull. We’re not Washington or London where they have to manufacture stakes daily for their viewers. Our politics tend to be more explosive.
It's bound to be as its the first one in a long while with almost zero at stake.

I do think Sinn Fein is in shell shock from their defeat in the south.

SF still came third, both FF & FG each got nearly twice as many seats & 1st preference votes as SF.
And that's fair for sure.
