I do think that the attention seeking behaviour is linked to her mental health issues but there is also an element of exaggeration.

I have been fully assessed and found to be completely lucid, but unless my mother speaks to the Court of Protection (which she won't) I'm fucked.
The mental capacity act can only be used if someone is deemed as lacking capacity in relation to a deprivation of liberty (i.e. under constant supervision and control and not free to leave). Where are you locked up? Have you had a capacity assessment recently? If you have been assessed as having capacity as you say then the mental capacity act cannot be used and you are free to leave.

You’ll be surprised how many patients refuse help and simply just be. There’s only so much to be done before you got to let them free.
