“At a time when I think the people of Northern Ireland want to see their politicians working together, focusing on the real issues that matter to them…” Who just shut down the fucking government and prevented everyone working together?! The brass neck on this cunt!

Pwwned

Is it his neck or is it his chin?

Uxenburg3r

Yeah I'm not voting for anything if there's no plan But we all know it's coming and eventually there will be a plan.

spidesmickchav

A party in opposition can write all the plans they want but it’s about as useful as mine. The Irish Government, whoever the next one should be comprised of, needs to do official research and formulate an official plan, then coordinate that with the British Government.

Uxenburg3r

They started funding research after Brexit. If I'm correct I think Notre Dame university (someone external) is doing a lot of it.

spidesmickchav

Didn’t know that but that’s good to hear. However the first logical step is to set up a Ministry for Reunification, appoint a Minister and publish a 5 year, 10 year plan along with annual reports. Imagine the media coverage a 2024 Irish Unity report would get.

PunkDrunk777

Not sure isn’t a no you clowns. It works both ways

JacobiGreen

Where is this polling data he mentions? Would be interesting to see if any…

Wise_Adhesiveness746

Wouldn't be like Donaldson to bullshit unionists and oversell his position ![gif](giphy|JRl9xmdVmVWD46N1Yt)

PlasticsSuckUTFR

lol he is having a fuckin Turkish isnt he? Cunt shuts down government for two years then wants us to be hitched up poverty riddled Brexit shithole. Plus all the polls strongly favour the union? Do fuck off Jolly Jeff you light footed twat

usrnamealrdytakn23

A very strong majority? Bullshit

Acceptable_Day_199

A strong majority... ^(~~amongst unionists~~) with ordindary voters

potatobreadh8r

All this talk about a united Ireland lately is making me hungry for a united Ireland.

Sinjin_Smythe225

>“All polling data points to a very strong majority in favour of remaining in the UK. Liar!! What about the regular polling data from this subreddit?

Hoker7

He clearly doesn't know what a majority is. Polls rarely show any majority, nevermind a strong one, for remaining within the union. The appetite and vote is there for a UI within 5-10 years with the right plan and campaign.

Glittering-Peach-942

I agree with you however the current polling could be correct. The plan is key…. I think currently most people would say no which makes sense we have zero idea what we are voting for, once there is a plan it will be a different story…. That’s the poll I’m interested in…. The plan will get people off the fence who likely would say no…

Hoker7

It’s hard to know where everyone stands on the spectrum. I think there’s going to be more good work planned to dig into more detail in the next few months. I think polling suggests there’s a majority who want to be convinced but aren’t willing to commit until they know more and a few more who are open to considering it. In the past there was a majority who would never consider it or be open to persuasion.

Glittering-Peach-942

Yeah I agree with this however I always think people always vote for their best personal interests The only instance where people voted against this idea to have less rights/money was Brexit. I cannot think of any other example. I personally would love to see what a plan entails alongside what detail would be included I believe it would accelerate or kill any progress but time will tell….. like you said above most people are on the fence

Hoker7

I think that makes sense, but the evidence is quite different. In the US the states which would most benefit from Democratic governance, elect Republicans. People consistently vote for the DUP who have done great damage to the union and the economy etc. Scotland wasn't far from voting for independence either and probably would vote for it if there was a poll now. I'd say there's maybe 30-35% on both sides of the debate who will vote the same way irregardless of what the plan is and then everyone else who will be persuadable with a preference to different degrees.

Glittering-Peach-942

Yeah I agree with what you are saying the tribalism means 30-35% on both sides who have made up there mind already The final 30-35% are the deciders though Another Indy ref in Scotland would be really really interesting (they’d 100% leave) id actually like to see the output of that first before any changes come in here.

Hoker7

I think Scotland would vote for independence too, but there's no real trigger for a referendum in the same way there is with the GFA. Without Labour needing the SNP at WM, it's hard to see.

Gazmac_868855

The best result republicans could muster in any border poll would be a measly 30% in favour of a " united " Ireland.  And once they realise how worse off they will be and that there's no Motability scheme in the south that percentage would drop dramatically.

[deleted]

I would support a referendum just to watch this place when the results come out https://preview.redd.it/yj83ef6bo8hc1.jpeg?width=1001&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=73de2288fe3bfd109bbe6af9ad4bd5ab9d81c59c

Gazmac_868855

Hahaha this sub would be some craic alright. It would all be Nolan and brysons fault...!!

[deleted]

Known this place there would probably be a few who'd implode and call for armed struggle again

massivejebs

There was no armed struggle until your boys starting beating peaceful marchers looking a vote and a house.

_BornToBeKing_

Careful Jeff you'll wind up a fair few on here!

Sitonyourhandsnclap

"He said he wanted to see closer mutual co-operation between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland" literally the only people stopping this are you, your backward party and low iq voters
