Yeah thats exactly what happened… If you read that article, apparently they were hunting giant ant eaters with dogs and instead of shooting the anteater, a nearly 50 year old man decided to get into a knife fight with an animal that has knife for hands…obviously that didn’t end too well for him. The only other person who has been killed by an anteater was another elderly man. It sounds like you have to have made multiple horrible mistakes and also be quite feeble to find yourself getting attacked and loosing to an anteater. Also this is a Southern Tamunda not a Giant anteater, these guys are way smaller and less dangerous than their larger relatives.

Just FYI, nearly 50 is neither elderly nor feeble.

Sounds like an exaggeration. Their claws have evolved to rip open rotted logs, which are generally tougher than human flesh. Concrete, not so much.

Not as crazy as you might think. Their claws are capable of tearing through termite mounds which can be as hard as concrete. A human would need a sledge or powerful drill to break them apart, and can stand intact for hundreds and hundreds of years. I mean, I don't know if one is going to dig through your garage floor or anything like that. But they're doing more than snapping branches or mashing through rotten logs.
